  1. I have been wondering the same thing. If I have a 36" pant size seems like I should buy the equivalent sized outer belt. What size inner belt should I buy? The same size as the outer belt? Thanks
  2. Do they offer this scope in different reticles? Anyone know what the asking price is?
  3. I replaced my A2 flashhider with a Surefire muzzle brake and my point of impact was raised approx 3" 100 yards. Good thing I listened to my brother who advised me to rezero for the reasons given on this thread.
  4. Wow! Those are very nice. Does JP offer a shorter barrel length (10.5 or 11.5) in those rifles?
  5. That's a fine looking gun! Any word on the weight yet?
  6. It has a high "CDI" factor! and it's looks very cool too!
  7. I am curious of this as well. Looking to invest some money on a belt system and I'm considering going Safariland ELS across the board. Anyone have pros/cons for the ELS system and the SG caddies? The Safariland caddies are the same as the CCW/Choate caddies, except for the addition of the ELS forks. Are you able to attach an ELS fork directly to a stock CCW caddy with the metal clip or do you need a special adaptor in order to do this? The hole patterns of my ELS fork don't line up with my CCW caddy screw holes.
  8. Thanks for the info. Will look into the Arredondos
  9. Love my 21SF and it does shoot softer than my 1911s/Paras using factory ball! All I can say is wow! For you guys out there who shoot the G21 in limited, what kind of extended basepads do you use and how many extra rounds does it give you? All this talk is making me wanted to shoot mine in Limited
  10. Normally not, but I have done it when it makes sense. Example: fast hoser targets with movement followed by a short run to a prone shooting position for a significant number of targets to finish. In this case I would consider starting with the shorter stock setting and pull the stock out to max length while moving to the prone position (assuming it does not cost me any time). Adjusting short-to-long on the fly is easy with most M4-style stocks. Forget adjusting long-to-short though... disaster factor is too high. If you had your stock set short and didn't have time to extend it before going prone, how do you adapt to shooting prone with a shorter stock? Would shooting prone with a shorter stock throw off your length of pull / cheek weld?
  11. So during a match would one have time to adjust the stock going from one position to another (i.e. standing to prone or vice versa) or do you just leave it at one length and deal with it?
  12. I'm a confused newbie rifle/3-gun shooter, did a search and found this thread. Wow, a lot of great info! Staying square vs bladed stance is something I've been struggling with. In my first couple of matches, I used the square stance-gun on pec method and it was very uncomfortable and fatiguing (I'm right handed and my left bicep was killing me after each stage)! I am going to try the bladed stance-shoulder pocket method, but here is where I get confused: If using a bladed stance, can you still use the "nose on the charging handle" method or is that only for shooting squared up to the target? Since I am using an AR with a collapsible stock, would it be normal to collapse the stock when shooting squared up, nose to charging handle, but extend the stock if shooting bladed? I borrowed a friend's RRA with an ARFX stock and there was no way I could shoot bladed/NTCH without stretching my neck forward (for that matter, I could barely shoot NTCH with a square stance). Needless to say that was not comfortable. I am currently shooting a 16" with irons, but will be alternating with an Aimpoint Comp M4. Not sure if using a 1X optic would change anyting since eye relief is not as a big concern as it is with a scope. Looking forward to hearing from you stud 3-gunning rifle shooting BE'ers.
  13. I can't wait to actually get my hands on the new 525. I think it's a great looking piece. I think it's great the SA is coming out with a "competition ready" package. Will I end up purchasing one is another question. It has nothing to do with it not having a custom shop type trigger out of the box or how low or high it sits in my hand or any other of negative perceptions about the XD(M). It's about me finally settling on a single platform and sticking with it to try and shoot it better. I've shot an M&P Pro with a Burwell trigger job and OMG! If I chose that platform, that's the option I would take. I've also tried an M&P with an APEX drop in kit and guess what..OMG too! Another option if I shot that platform. This example (custom gunsmith trigger job or drop in kit) extends to other manufacturers. We should be thankful that we, as shooters, have choices and many good manufacturers and gunsmiths to choose from. I think it's unrealistic to expect a manufacturer to come out with the perfect affordable by all, out of the box, competition ready, personalized to my particular tastes gun. As for price...I am a cheap b@stard, but let's try to compare apples to apples the best we can. For example, if Glock offered a G34 with similar sights and a slightly than better "stock" G34 trigger, I would imagine that would drive up the price way beyond what they are currently going for. Again, this example can be extended to other manufacturers. The more "custom" features that come with the gun, the higher it's costs will be out of the box (manufacturers need to make money too, esp ones like SA who are a major supporter of our sport). Instead of being negative on a gun that only a very few have had a chance to actually shoot while the rest of us have only seen pictures of, like myself, we should be grateful that a company like SA has stepped up and offered a product directly geared towards competition shooters, with a lot of input from one of the best shooters ever - thanks TGO!). I think this is a great step for everyone because now that the bar has been raised, maybe the other manufactures will follow suite, but then again maybe not. This innovation also benefits our other supporters such as various aftermarket manufacturers as well as the many great smith's out there who are always striving to improve a product and make it even better! I can't wait to shoot the XDM 525, and who knows, I might like it enough to switch platforms. It's a great looking gun and has a lot of features that I desire on my current gun (except for the fiber front, sorry Rob...maybe in a couple of years). Again, I'm thankful for manufacturers like SA, S&W, Glock, etc..who support our sport and have listened to the needs of shooters as well as the gunsmiths and parts manufacturers who provide us with options that allow us to personalize our guns just they way we want to or can afford to. Thanks to you all!
  14. Comp-Tac. Just ordered one for my SA Pro-Light Rail and it fits like a glove. The quality is second to none!
  15. I was wondering the same thing too. I have to "flip" the gun in order to reach the mag release and I'm using a "tactical" length release too. I just wonder if a cut out as large as the one pictured causes your grip to have a different feel.
  16. Hope it's nothing serious. Hate to see a talent like that get cut short.
  17. I read the most recent issue of Front Sight where it made reference that Adam Tyc is no longer shooting. If this is true, curious as to why. He appeared to have many great years ahead of him.
  18. I agree with you Rich! As far as I'm concerned USPSA is riding on the back of the SSC. This was my first SSTK Nationals/Classic and I liked it a lot because it emphasized shooting skills (which I'm severely lacking) more than "gaming skills". Hats off to the staff for keeping the courses of fire true to SSC standards. If I want to shoot "circus" stages, I'll attend another nationals. Thanks to all the staff/ROs for keeping the match running smooth. We shot on Friday and missed the bad weather on Saturday . If I can afford it, I plan on returning and hope the match maintains its integrity. Thanks for a great match!
  19. Looking good. Who did the slide cuts?
  20. I prefer the Comp-Tac belt or paddle. Very well made.
  21. I've used the CSAT rear sight out to 10 yards and it worked very well. Haven't had the opportunity to try it at further distances.
  22. +1! I still do that and should know better. This thread is just another example of why not to do it. Thanks for sharing and glad it wasn't too serious.
  23. Looks sweet Kurt. How long is the barrel? I'm thinking of going that route as well, but can't decide between an 18" or 20" barrel.
  24. And the reason why he hasn't won a handgun nationals is??? That is just plain sick! Like a previous poster said, why even try?...He is a freak! WOW!
