    Hey all,

This came up at a biggish match over the weekend. We had a competitor squib during a course of fire and stop himself. The rules are really clear about what happens here when the RO is the one who stops the competitor - if the squib is legitimate, the course is scored as shot (5.7.7.1). If the RO was mistaken, the competitor gets a reshoot (5.7.7.2). However, there doesn't seem to be a provision for the competitor calling the squib themselves as 5.7.7 is prefaced with "In the event that a Range Officer terminates a course of fire due to... (squib etc)".

If the shooter calls the stop and not the RO, is it an immediate "scored as shot" with no chance of a reshoot? That's the only interpretation I can glean from the rules, but it seems odd to put the onus on them to decide if the possibility of bulging their barrel outweighs likely zeroing a COF.

If the competitor calls it himself, then it's no different than a gun malfunction during a course of fire.

I have had totally the opposite experience. Here's quick review of the 147/135 FP profile in 9mm:

    1.  He's fast with delivery
    2. The weight is normal variance between bullets.
    3. The coating does stay on the bullet (I tested into a trap and examined them)
    4. The lead is softer and the bullets deform slightly more than Precision Bullet, Blues, Acme...
    5. No notable increase in smoke using SP (in fact far less than the ACMES I used to use with TG).
    6. Accuracy was no different than PD, PB, ACME, Blues at 25 yards from TF Stock 2.
    7. The coating leaves a slight grey slippery residue on my fingers. I suspect he uses graphite in the mix.

Are they worth shooting? Obviously one has to test and find out what works in their particular gun. For me the answer is yes.

Here's a good example of different gun results. I have a Glock 19 Gen 5 and it is the sole gun in my pistol collection which has very poor accuracy with any of the minor PF 147 grain loads I use.

BTW my favorite coated bullet brand is Precision Bullet. Very well made and the coating better than jacketed. But, like them all place your order and get in line.

Agreed. I just recently tried Precision Delta, Acme and Precision bullets from prize table prizes, but the best accuracy, less smoke and toughest coating was with the j-ames bullets.  Especially in my M&P 40, STI 5" 1911 and Glock 19 and 20.  Real reliable feeding too. That J-ames bullets was the one company I really originally liked, but I won bullets at matches and tried them for shiggles and now I'm back to what I always liked. I just re-ordered from j-ames a week ago, they said they are so swamped with orders, they can only ship 1,500 max per order. well, kind of disappointing, but no problem the shipping is free so I don't care about making multiple orders.

"For some reason it hates slow rounds (less than 1000 fps) ."

--- ^ That's likely due to the twist rate of your barrel and bullet weight. I had that same problem until I changed out the barrel.

    Definition of Draw

     - The point at which a handgun is removed or disengaged from the holster so as to allow access to any portion of the interior of the trigger guard.

If the gun remains completely holstered (I.e the trigger Guard is Completely covered) no problem at all. You can have your hand on the grip all day.  That said, If you move the gun up even slightly where the trigger is uncovered it’s A DQ.

    hope that helps

Yes, that was great help. Thank you!

As I wait semi patiently wait for a shipment of coated bullets to come in, I am down to a few thousand 9mm 125gr .356 dia uncoated hard cast bullets.

I have only ever put coated or factory ammo thru any of my guns. Could anyone advise if it would be unwise to use them or if there is anything to watch out

for while loading them or firing them?

You should just wait for those coated bullets to arrive. Scraping out encrusted lead deposits is a real chore.......

Only if the trigger is accessible

    From the glossary

Handling (As in “handling a firearm”) The act of manipulating, holding, or gripping a firearm while the trigger is functionally accessible. Note exceptions for casing/uncasing PCC.

So you're saying it's OK to fully grip a holstered unloaded gun on a cold range?  The rules say that "handling" of firearms can only be done at the "Safe Table" or "during/under direct command of a Range Officer"

I am still unsure of what is actually allowed and what is not when it comes to "handling" of firearms.

  6. Is it a violation of USPSA or SCSA Rules to be standing around the range with your unloaded handgun in your holster and have your shooting hand wrapped completely around the grip of that gun the same way it would be if you were drawing and shooting the gun?

I'm thinking it may be a DQ because it's "handling a firearm" outside of a hot range course of fire without a range officer giving you the command to handle a firearm??

I've seen people run blues for 9 major I was curious if anyone has tried black bullets. They seem to be the only manufacturer with product in stock and shipping in 3 days... despite the RONA.

    Thanks for the advice.

Who cares if they ship in 3 days or a week. They probably sell a lot less is why. Higher quality shipped in a reasonable time is all that matters.

Evening! Been a lurker here for bit and figured I would make a post. (Just excited) :) Picked up my first open from a local gun club member, CK Arms Thunder in 38sc  3 poppel and 2 port cheely ti comp.. I had been shooting a glock 19.5 in carry optics with an SRO. What a difference! Gun came with 11lbs or sr7625 so I am using that up. Current load is 7.1gn sr7625, rushmore 125gn .355 coated, 1.225 oal, 168-170pf. Sorry, i know this probably does not belong here, just having a blast, literally and figuratively:Dvz1Af0a.jpgw01tkL1.jpg

We need a boycott J-Ames bullet thread...

LOL.  What competitor of theirs are you?  Clearly, you are one. It must really make your blood boil to hear a real J-Ames Bullets customer rave about their products haha.  Personally, I think your troll comments are actually quite complimentary to them.

I will also say the J-Ames customer service and pricing, especially with the discounts are the best I've seen thus far. Shipping isn't the fastest. Email replies are fast and very professional. But I've done my homework too. I'm no ordinary buyer. I only buy the highest performing products in their category, even if their prices are higher. My wife will vouch for that, since she sees all my expense invoices Lol.

I don't read or care about online reviews anywhere, since too many of those "reviews" are from company owners. I just simply buy and try. I don't care what obvious trolls post. Unfortunately, the world is filled with too many jealous troll haters. Look at what's happening with poor Trump. You know he's badass powerful cool and everyone wants to be him with his successes with all his troll haters. He's the icon epitome of real unrelenting power and talent. The more haters he has, the more I LOVE the guy.

AN UNCUT VIDEO in REAL TIME speaks ten thousand words!  I have a great video of my heat tests done with three popular bullets, including a J-Ames bullet as described above on my first post in this thread. I will upload it on YouTube when I get time and send J-Ames a link to it. Very cool video! I'm sure the ( two ) people posting in this thread will enjoy it:roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:

  10. the tighter fit in the slide definitely helps with loosening issues. all the expensive firearms are machine to make it as tight as possible, so that's not just for looks.

I'd be more likely to look into having it removed if it ever became a problem than to risk removing it against Dr's advice.

i guess that surgeon was concerned about nerve damage. but I would've required a second opinion. a sharp jagged metal object left in muscle tissue is very very bad. I had three shrapnels removed after they caused me so much agony for the years they were in there.

Every one of those are flat base the 45  even says so in the description    J

    did you  look

They are as flat as any flat base bullet that you (J- ames ) has.

Yes, I did look. Only one 45 bullet in all those links has a flat base. All the rest are bevel based. I have bought some of those. And (you) should watch (your) intentional fight provocative and false accusation remarks in this forum from (all) of (your) account(s). (You) most certainly sound like a jealous competitor of theirs. No doubt about that now.

Not that it's any of your business, but I'm in the styro-foam cushion materials business. Hence my name "Styro".
