Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've been lurking here for a while. Just thought I'd weigh in. Bought the 24" but haven't had it to the range yet. Took me 2 hours of trial and error to get the shims and spacers just right but I think it fits me perfectly now. ( I ended up doubling up the shims for enough right cast ) I ordered the Beretta IM +2 extended choke and a Nordic +5 tube and clamp. I intend this to be my all around shotgun as I sold all my 3 other shotguns to finance this purchase. I have taken the last couple of years off from competing in 3 gun but with this I'm looking forward to giving it another shot. I have been practicing my L2 technique and I think I'll need to weld the lifter. I don't have large hands and have managed to get my thumb wedged a couple times. I'll probably do it myself. I don't think I'll need to profile the well. btw I got "The crazy gun dealer" in Alvarado to price match less $10 to "Grab-a-gun" and got it for $968.00
  2. Howdy, The only 3-gun match I've shot has been the TacPro match (about 12 times). Is the format and scoring similar to that or is this a USPSA type match? I couldn't find the rules on the website. Does anyone have a better link? Thanks, Art
  3. I've got a set of XS sites on my M&P 9. This is a compition only firearm. My competition of choice is 3 gun. I find that my scores go up as I slow down. I don't mind giving up some speed for accuracy. Who make the best sights (adjustable rear and fiber optic front) for the M&P 9? With the big dot front sight I don't have confidence that I can make a long shot on a plate even with careful aiming due to the bulky front sight. Thanks in advance.
  4. I spoke with SV and they aren't producing shuemman barrels yet and wouldn't install it in any guns other than their own so that was a dead end. I took the gun to a smith who seems to have a clue about timing 45's and he was very pleased with the results he's gotten with Ed Brown's barrels. I should have it back in my hot little hands in about 10 days for roughly $200. He claims it will out shoot the stock kimber unit which I must say shot pretty darn well. I'll post a follow up after I've had a chance to try it out. By the way... What do ya'll think is the best way to break in a new barrel?
  5. So who has a strong opinion as to which brand of barrel is best. Is Ed Brown a good product?
  6. Thanks, that's about what I figured. After reading shueman's web site I really want an AET but haven't found a competent smith in the Dallas area. Also I'd like to have an idea how much this is going to cost me before I ship my gun off and have to wait a year to get it back.
  7. I need a new barrel for my Kimber Classic Stainless 45. I've searched the web and read up a bit. Some manufacturers (like Ed Brown) offer "drop-in" barrels. Is their any truth to their calim? Can I fit a barrel? If not, what will I have to pay a smith to do it for me? Any good recomendations on the who's barrel to buy? Thanks for any and all advice. I'm brand new to the forum and have found it very informative.
