  1. Louu thanks for the tips and feedback on 700x. I am am going to go with H335 it seems to be a pretty popular powder and Midway has it in stock. I will try the IMR8 if it ever comes back into stock again. I gotta have that triway cutter and sending Doug and email now lol! MSCOTT Thanks for the offer I may take you up on that I will send a PM with my info. CamaroSS400 that is a really nice reloading room and I like the fact that you have and use both presses and can give feedback. So is a DIllon 1050/1100 pretty much a 650/750 with all the accessories or is it a completely different press?
  2. I was told Breech face erosion can also be an issue with small rifle primers in 9mm cases since they are hotter than regular small pistol primers. Thoughts on this and have you inspected all the guns you tested for any indication of this? Thanks for taking the time to do this and post the results.
  3. Sorry I missed a few replies I updated my profile to include my location. Ends up the small rifle primers I had are magnum small rifle so they are not going to work. I sold them for close to going rate and now plan to buy small pistol primers at the current going rate. I am willing to spend Gunbroker money on 1k primers so I can get started and at least load enough ammo to get through the rest of this season. I would much rather pay inflated rates to a board member here so if anyone has 1k small pistol primers they would like to part with for 3/4x what they paid I would be appreciative and happy to buy them. On the breech face issue I read about rifle rounds will using a sealant in the primer pocket. Would this help that situation at all on 9mm? Thanks Louu I think I am going to go with the LnL mostly because it seems like it will be easier and less expensive to swap between 9mm and 223. I have not ruled out a new 750xl and was planning on starting out just like you suggested feeding the bullets by hand. I just bought a Lee APP press to process brass and picked up 2k crimped rifle brass and 3k 9mm brass to keep me busy for awhile. I have all the parts to load rifle so may be starting with that since I have primers. Any suggestions of a good powder to start with to load 223 for 3 gun? I bought 55gr FMJ from Everglades to start with. Once ammo prices come back to earth I only plan to load heavier match grade rounds for rifle and will continue to use XM193 surplus ammo for plinking and anything under 100yds. I also think I am going to pick up a different powder to start with on pistol other than Titegroup. I saw Universal Unique 700x and Red Dot were suggested. I am thinking 700x since Midway has it in stock?

    Max capacity 140mm

I have shot a few matches with the magazines and the 23round CZ 18rd mags with Grams springs and followers are not playing nice with my S2 and I am getting FTE/double feed issues. It has happened twice now and I am pretty certain it is the mags with the Grams springs and followers in the 18rd CZ mag tubes. I have not had any issues with the MecGar 17rd tubes with Springer spings and factory followers. Any suggestions on fixing this issue?
  5. For now I am going to use it mostly for a local Wed night steel match I have been going to and having a lot of fun with. I have been shooting 3 gun and still struggling with pistol accuracy and my eyes so I am looking forward to using a dot. Once I get better at the steel matches I may try a USPSA match. I would love to get out and shoot more but ammo is getting tough to find these days. Right now I dont think I have enough 9mm left to get through the rest of the season yet alone practice. I am collecting tools and materials to start reloading but pistol primers seem to be even more difficult to find than 9mm ammo!
  6. Here is a pic of my hand on the S2, I keep it in my tool box in my garage and dry fire with it daily so I do use the DA a lot for that.
  7. I am just starting out too and have some of the same questions as the OP. I am still gathering/researching stuff to load both 9mm and 223. I ordered a Lee APP press to re-size and decap/swage brass. If I do this on the APP press do I still use a re-size die on the loading progressive press or would I start with a powder charge die? If I have a 5 station press and do not need a re-size/decap die will I be able to run both a powder check and bullet feeder die along with Powder charge, seat and crimp for my 5 stations? I haven't decided on a progressive press yet but it will be a Hornady or Dillon. Thanks for useful info the Dillon video was pretty informative.
  8. It has to do with how the beaver tail is cut higher and deeper. My hand and fingers fit better on the S2 and I am able to get better placement of my finger on the trigger especially in DA and I can hit the mag release without breaking my grip. The smaller grip on the SP-01 with the relocated trigger and S2 mag release is probably going to fit my hand pretty well. I am looking fwd to the Lok grips since I like the factory palm swell ones on the SP-01 . The thin Alum grips on the S2 which look good but get slick when my hands get sweaty and adding palm swells to that grip may be to big for my hands. In the pic below you can see with my index finger extended the trigger is more than halfway through the pad and the mag release is at the end of my thumb. On the S2 my index finger makes it all the way out past the end of the trigger housing and my thumb will be right at the mag release. The larger grip down in the palm of my hand doesn't bother me as much.
  9. I am new to gun games this year and after having issues with my Glock decided to buy a Manual Safety SP-01 to use. The original plan was just a spring kit with Dawson sights and I would be happy. Well after getting it I found I really didn't like the trigger position or the hook and with my small hands and short fingers it really didnt work well. So I went out and bought a new Shadow 2 which I have been totally happy with and has worked well for me out of the box. Without having to get into a complete gun build or waiting 8 weeks for CGW or CZC to do the work. I was originally going to just sell the SP-01 but hung on to it because for some silly reason I hate selling guns I purchased. I was considering building it as a CO gun and actually planned to send it to CGW to have the slide cut and I was going to put in one of their pro kits. While looking in the classifieds I came across this gentleman (EERW) selling a Shadow 1 slide and decided to inquire about it. Ends up he sold that slide but happened to have another one with an Accubushing. After figuring out who I was buying the slide from I decided to go all in with a CZC build. Stuart sent some cool pics of my parts I thought I would post. Hopefully, my gun is going to look like when done. But here is the build list and I will post some of the finished gun which I am patiently waiting for lol! SP-01 manual safety Frame that CZC is going to poly coat Burnt Bronze Shadow 1 Accubushing slide with RDS Optic cut CZC trigger job with relocated Combat trigger and short reset etc. Shadow 2 Mag release Trijicon SRO LOK Palm Swell Boogie grips
  10. I am new and have WAY more questions to ask than stuff to sell lol! I bought a few things off the classifieds already that went well, I will follow the rules.
  11. Awesome Thanks, 13 more posts and I will post them for trade in the classifieds lol, that's a great idea.
  12. I did read that post on here recently about the new loader blowing up his Sig X5 with a double charge. I was looking for progressive press with 5 stations so I could put the powder checking dies. Any suggestions on this?
  13. Thanks for the info. I am just getting started and hope the Hornady will be all I need for now. I will upgrade if it gets to be to much to mess with or I start shooting/loading a lot more. I was going to start with a Lee lol. I am also planning to eventually do 223/556 and will probably just get a second press at that point since I read that the Hornady is a PIA to switch over.
  14. I am not using them by choice lol, desperate times... I did research it some and there were several folks on here using them. I will only load a few rounds to start with anyway so I will test them. Will this be something I would see on the breech face after just a few rounds? I found Hi-Powerjacks post on the plunk test I will follow that advice. I did measure a few rounds of factory ammo, 115g Blazer Brass is 1.15 and the 135g Syntech was 1.12 I have many rounds of both through my gun without an issue.
  15. I definitely picked the wrong year to get into shooting sports lol!! I was plenty content buying Fed Syntech 135g delivered to my door for $234/1000rds. I think those days are gone for the foreseeable future and right now I don't have enough 9mm ammo to get through the rest of this season. So I have decided to start re-loading and could use some advice as my knowledge base at this point comes from this site and youtube lol! I have been collecting the materials to make ammo and today I found some CCI small rifle primers in stock at local shop. I can now load at least 1000 rounds. I have 8# of Titegroup on its way along with 2000 once fired cases plus the stuff I have collected. I also order 3000 147g Black bullets with Hi-Tek coating which will be as as soon as USPS will get it here. I am shooting a CZ Shadow 2 to start I am planning to use 3.2gr Titegroup at 1.15 OAL and 147g bullet which should give me a 130 power factor? My buddy (who I may use his press to get started) uses the same load but at 1.172 and shoots an Atlas 2011 I am guessing the 1.172 is going to be a little long for a CZ? In the meantime I am lookng to order a press, dies and whatever else you guys think I should need? I think I am going to go with the Hornady LnL Ammo Plant with bullet and case feeder. It seems like it is a really decent press but has a few quirks like anything else. The price is right at $1098 at midsouthshooterssupply.com and its available! I know a lot of people on here are die hard Dillon but a 750xl(which is on BO) with a case feeder and a Mr. Bullet feeder is going to be considerably more money than the Hornady and out of my budget. I am however open to suggestions as I haven't purchased anything yet other than materials. I am also going to get the Lee Precision Deluxe 4 die set and Hornady Shell plate and a Hogodon Manual when I order the press. I have a good set of digital calipers and a digital scale, I am going to pick up a Harbor Freight tumbler and I should have any basic tools that would be required. Anything I am missing you guys would suggest? Open to comments and feedback I am totally new at this. Thanks
  16. I ordered 60#(2850rds) of 147g Coated bullets from Hoosier today and they said it was in stock, we'll see maybe I got lucky because site says they are out of stock now?

    Max capacity 140mm

Little of all that lol! I would like to keep the slide stop function and only give up one round over the Grams, at least that was the original plan. The BSPS use the grams followers which everyone is saying won't keep the slide stop fxn. I am converting the mags I have already. I am building the SP-01 as a CO gun and using the S2 for 3 gun so I have 2 18rd mags and 3 17rd mags that came with the guns. I dont plan to run production or IDPA so I can use 140mm mags for everything I plan to do.

Yes but its not exactly working out as planned lol. I was able to get an extra round in when I used the shorter 18rd extension on the 17rd tube by cutting down the follower I managed 20rds. When I put the proper 17rd tube extension on which is deeper I was still only able to get 20rds in, same as the shorter extension. Funny thing is with the other two 17rd mags and unmodified follower and Springer springs I was able to get 21rds in, WTF? I am playing around with springs which seem to make a difference I still for the life of me can not figure out why I can only get 20 rds in the mag with the cut down follower and 21 rds in the ones without a cut down follower. I have three different mags, the 17rd mags that came from my S2 which are the SAME mag tube and follower as the Mec-Gar 19rd mags I purchased. I also have two 18rd CZ mags that came with my SP-01 which use a longer tube and different follower. The 18rd tubes leave a gap with the extension. With Grams springs/followers in the 18rd tubes I got 23rds. I am still working on getting 22 in the 17rd tubes with modified followers. For now the slide lock is working with the Grams followers but from what people are saying in this thread that will not last long. https://imgur.com/undefined
  19. I would like a box of standard sort 9mm brass cleaned and polished

    Thank You

  20. I can say for sure the extended SP0326 Springer basepad will fit the MecGar 19rd mag tubes. They are the same mag tube as the CZ 17rd tube that came with my S2 as Falfar stated and definitely different than the 18rd CZ mag tubes although a 18rd SP0318 basepad extension does still fit the 17rd mecgar tube

    CZ 75 P-01 optic cut

I would love to see a pic of your SP-01 cut for the RDS plate system and SRO all the pics above show a Shadow slide. I am pretty sure this is the route I am going to take with mine. Just for clarification CZC does have a RDS fixed sight plate for the SP-01 and a RDS plate cut slide? I believe this part? 10472 RDS Plate CZ75 B. Just verifying B slides and SP-01 slides would use the same fixed sight plate? I know they are both FPB slides?
  22. I have all three the MecGar 19rd the SP-01 18rd and the 17rd that came with my S2. The tubes on the 18 and 19rd mags are longer than the 17rd mag tubes and will use a different base pad extension. I am 99% sure the MecGar and CZ 18 and 19rd mags are the same but I have not taken the MecGar mags apart yet, The tube length is the same on them so I would imagine they run the same basepad, I would check with Springer. I am in the process of adding basepad extensions to my mags to make them all 140mm. Springer has two extended basepads the SP0318 for the 17rd tube and the SP0326 for the 18rd tube which will probably be the same for the MecGar 19rd mag. FYI The alum basepad extensions on the 18 or 19rd mag tubes leaves a huge gap and does not fit flush with the bottom of the grip. The plastic basepad ext on the factory and Mecgar mags come up to meet the base of the grip. The 17rd mag tubes with the basepad ext DO fit flush with the bottom of the grip. I was told no one makes a basepad or basepad extension that will fit flush with the bottom of the grip on the 18rd mag tubes like the factory plastic ones will.

Yes, Springer makes two extended basepads one for the 18rd mag tubes (0326) and one for the 17rd tubes (0318). I have a shorter (0326) for an 18rd tube on a 17rd tube with a cut down follower with the Springer power spring and can get 20rds in easily and maintain the factory slide stop function. I am waiting on the longer SP0318 for the 17rd tubes but think I am going to get 22rds with the factory slide stop working. I know I will get at least 21 but I think I can also take more material off the bottom of the follower and get 22 in there. I'll post a follow up along with pics of what I did to the follower once I get the parts and run a few rounds through it at the range.

Ok here is my take on this project. I ended up cutting down the bottom of a factory follower from a 17rd mag and with the SP0326 (which is for an 18rd mag) on a 17rd tube I can easily fit 20rds and maintain the slide stop function. It works really well as far as I can tell so far I have to live fire test it but on the bench it is no issue. Ironically with the Springer powerspring in the 18rd mags I can only fit 20rds with no chance of 21 without having to modify the bottom of the follower. In the 17rd tube I can actually get 20 rounds in without cutting the bottom of the follower too but it is to tight and difficult to get the mag to seat. I am going to try 17rd tubes with the SP0318 basepads Springer powerspring with cutting down the bottom of the follower. After measuring I am guessing the SP0318 is close to 5mm taller than the SP0326 to maintain the 140mm overall length, With the extra length I think I am going to easily get 22 rounds in a 17 rd tube with a modified factory follower and still be able maintain the slide stop function.
  25. Glock 22 with a 9mm conversion barrel. I switched mostly since the Glock doesnt fit my hand well and the CZ does, especially the S2. I also had issues with the barrel and slide on the Glock and just didn't want to put any more money into it when there are better options. I do still prefer a Glock for EDC or home defense and also have a Gen 5 19.
