Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I loaded CCI450 for a while and had to get an extended firing pin and a 17lb mainspring and I had no light strikes after.

I'd get a springer extended mag release, I like the paddle and I prefer the Gray Guns trigger, because it's the only one that I've tried and it feels great, it's noticeably better than the stock trigger. If you feel like the grip doesn't have enough bite, you could go the stipple route or silicon carbide, personally the legion grip had enough bite for me so I left it alone. Lastly a tungsten guide rod, I think the gun is already balanced pretty well, I had a tungsten guide rod from an older X5, it was a little flatter with the tungsten guide rod, I don't think it's super necessary. Biggest improvements were trigger and the paddle mag release for me.
  3. Welcome! I'm right down the Road in Tucson, you'll find tons of help between the ranges in Phoenix and Tucson, and you're always welcome to shoot in Tucson, we usually get a few Phoenix shooters at Pima Pistol Club.
  4. I prefer the window size and clarity and dot on the Romeo 3 over the RTS2, it is clearer and cleaner. I use Romeo 3 on all my red dot guns now, and the buttons don't work well after a while, I can feel the click, but it's like it's not actually pushing the button, have to move around on the button pad to get it; The only time this really bothered me was at Nationals, my dot also turned off in the middle of a stage and I couldn't turn it back on fast enough. I'd still buy the Romeo 3 again over the RTS2. Also between the XL and Max, it's personal preference, I prefer a round window so I went max.
  5. I ran CCI SRMP through my DVC open and a 17 mainspring and had no problem with an extended firing pin. Put about 2,000 through the gun with no light strikes. I just picked up 10k Winchester SPP and it doesn't sound like I'm going to have any issues with my 38SC gun from all the comments.
  6. This! My first open gun was a used STI DVC open and it came with a cheely aluminum grip, and it felt great, but I really noticed when I tried some other open guns with the polymer grip and I love the shape and texture of the metal grip. For 3 gun I'd think aluminum would be fine.
  7. Yes, if I'm recording myself I also like to record the significantly better shooters for comparison. At nationals I recorded myself and the Champ, christian for my own comparison.
  8. 365XL no dot for me... Yet. Throughout my work day my gun goes in my briefcase, so I was worried about dot or glass breaking.
  9. I'm using a full double alpha rig. Got it when I first went to open and never changed a thing.
  10. Yeah, I put a brand new battery in just before nationals and left the dot off. Regarding your warranty replacement have they sorted out the button issues on the newer dots they are sending out or are you having button issues on your replacement after a while? I had hoped to wait out a warranty replacement with button issues in hopes that they fix the issue and ship out new dots that are flawless.
  11. I'm surprised at how busy the good gun builders are right now it sounds like orders picked up last year, but makes sense with all the money people saved from not shooting or from the stimulus checks. I talked to Eddie, he's 18months out right now and Pat Rafferty is not taking new orders until next fall. I don't know if Brazos only works on 100% his own parts, but there's a guy at my range who had a new gun built in about a week.
  12. Sounds like if I have button issues but no dot issues then stick with it. I have 2 romeo 3 max's one is a 6moa the other is a 3moa, both have button issues. The 3 moa has close to 20k rounds on it, and followed me from CO to frame mounted on my open gun, the 6 only has about 5k through it and it randomly shut off in the middle of a stage at nationals. I don't get the feeling that any one dot manufacturer is going to be vastly superior in reliability than the others.
  13. I have 2 legions, both have the Gray Guns trigger, one of them I installed myself the 2nd I sent to Gray Guns I also wanted to get a barrel fitted so I thought if they can polish/tune and install the trigger too then perfect. I never weighed the trigger pull but they feel the same which I expected, but the trigger pull is noticeably smoother in the one that they did. I thought it was worth it only because I was also having them fit a barrel for me, otherwise it was a very long wait, I think a full month, and when shooting in a match I don't know a difference in the trigger between the one I installed myself and the one that was polished and tuned.
  14. I run grams spring and follower through all of my MBX mags now and I cut the tab on the follower. This is my first time switching to Grams and some of my mags wouldn't fall out freely on empty so dry fire was fun. Eventually they broke in and no issues, spring have lasted so much longer than the MBX springs.
