If as you say it had a 3/4 hit with a 9mm bullet (~ 0.26") it was on either a defective target or a non-approved target. Per Appendix B-1, the USPSA Target has a 0.20" non-scoring border all around the target.

Working this morning on a fencing project. Start early and shut down as soon as it gets a little hot.

I have not used a set of check weights in years. I match my load to the chrono. Not important to me that 3,3 gr N-320 is not exactly 3,3 grains on someone else scale. Back in the good old days when these things were important to me I had a friend with a scientific scale weigh some change for me. I had good weight measurement on a penney, dime and nickle. Kept them in a small case (should it turn out not all pennies weigh the same).

Its pretty much 100% compatibility between all the models of 550. The only difference I have heard between my early mid-80's Dillon 550 (no letter) and all newer models is mine will require some milling on the frame if I want to add a Dillon case feeder. Through the years I've upgraded to newer versions of powder measures but I believe everything else on mine is original.

Looks like once the fees are paid on your June 4th classifier, you made it to the top of the list at 100%. Congrats. Though I don't have nearly as many rounds on my PSA AR9 as you, its set up close to the same as yours. I don't remember the last time I had any gun related failures.

I've been plenty happy with my 550 for over 30 years (and well over 1/4 million rds loaded). Adding a simple and inexpensive case feeder will be a nice touch. So I can spend $120 or so and be just fine with my 550 or spend a couple grand for a new press with case feeder and all the conversions kits I need to get me back to where I started. Nope, not gonna happen.

Why on earth would they admit to a mistake when it allows them to sell an extra frame for $90 (possibly a $70 profit for them)? We call it bad customer service while they call it a new profit center.

I have an early Dillon 550 (1986 vintage) and read that the Dillon case feeder requires some trimming on the frame. I don't know if that's something that a DIY'er can do with a file or it requires a milling machine. I hoping the DAA case feeder does not have this limitation.

I get mine from a local farm feed store. They offer the media in different sizes in 40# or 50# bags. Less than half the price at a pet store.

Well its almost summer so hope they are selling them soon. I check the DAA website every other week and so far no information available.

Was it possible he was pushing for a reshoot? He may have thought that it should have been offered to any shooter that requested it.

After several months off the market, I see that the folks that bought out Eggleston Munitions is back to offering bullets on the original website. I really had good luck with the "original" Eggleston bullets and hope the "new" bullets are just as good. Note that any old discount codes are not honored.

Next time it happens (hopefully never) suggest to the RO to go old school. When the RO calls out the shooting order, call out #1 the shooter, #2 shooter on deck, #3 shooter in the deep hole, #4, 5, 6 shooters to tape and set steel. Pay attention to see that #4,#5 & #6 do their job or bump them to the bottom of the stack. Usually only need to do it to them once and they catch on. For the less motivated that do it a second time, when its down to their turn to shoot, nobody volunteers to tape or set steel. Last time we did this was to a father/son dual that just felt they did enough by just showing up and paying their match fees. First two stages no one complained about their lack of help but they did notice. On the third stage we implemented Plan A. They bitched and moaned and threatened to go to the MD/RO. Next stage they did it again and once again got bumped to last and next to last on the shooting order. Big difference this time is when the father walks up to the line none of the targets had been taped or steel reset. Instead of shooting the stage, they went to the MD and complained. It did not help their cause. Did not see them again for a few months but when they returned, their attitude was much improved.

I live about an hour north of the Rosenberg range. For the past few days our area was bombarded with severe thunder storm and flash flooding warnings. We did not get a drop of rain at the house but the road to my practice range (less than 20 minutes away) was flooded out. We look at Texas meteorologists as a source of entertainment not expecting much in the way of an accurate weather forecast.

I've shot matches that really should have been cancelled. At that point its a personal decision to bail or tough it out. Any time I sign up for a match even a few weeks in advance I do so knowing that life happens and I may end up losing some money without firing a shot. I'm sure that the Area 4 staff did their level best to put on a great match and tried their hardest to mitigate the Houston weather. The decision for those that have travel expenses and limited time available to shoot matches is significant. I can understand their concerns. This was strictly a case where Mother Nature did not cooperate. I hope the match is rescheduled for the near future and everyone can attend. Still a few diehards out there that detest PCC but compared to a year ago, its much better. We have also seen a few that were gung ho about PCC last year slowly going back to their pistol divisions. All of the local clubs now include PCC. But then again us Texans were always an open minded bunch.

Since Rule 5.3.3 is in place to assure the competitor does not have an unfair advantage. I would think no procedural unless the belt dropping somehow gave him an advantage (unlikely) and no DQ unless his pistol was still in the holster and it dropped out of control. Maintaining a competitor's equipment is the competitor's responsibility so no reshoot. A DQ is still possible if in an attempt to retreive the belt the shooter does something unsafe like sweeping or breaking the 180.

I always preferred rifles to pistols. But because all the fun games at the time I got started (1984 or so) was pistol only, that's what I shot for years. Finally we got some 3 gun matches locally and that fanned the long gun fire in me. Too bad it was so late in life. After too few years I became too old gave up on 3 gun. The matches were no longer fun, more a just please "Lord let me survive this day" ordeal. Then PCC popped up. At first I was in the "carbine at a pistol match is stupid" group. Shot my first 9mm PCC at a local match as a prop gun and was surprised how much it kicked. But that once again lite up the long gun fire. Stuck with a pistol I went to the local matches more for the camaraderie than the fun of shooting. Now with PCC that fun is back. Pros: You get to shoot like an Open gun wizard but on a Production gun budget. If you want, you can tune it to your liking or just leave it stock. Won't make much difference in your match standings either way. Even though you are shooting in a different Division. you can now look for your match scores starting from the top of the page instead of the bottom. Cons: You no longer get to strut around the range packing heat on your hip. Some old friends are no longer on speaking terms with you. (Actually this could be under Pros.)

Invest in some tactical suspenders. Problem solved.

Decrease the PF of you ammo, increase the buffer weight, increase the buffer spring weight, or any combination of the three will reduce the chance of it bump firing. I agree that pulling it harder into your shoulder should also help but I prefer to make the other changes. If you decide to use a laser on hard leans, you may want to shoot without the buttstock on the shoulder. You might get a few dirty looks from your RO when it bump fires but as long as it is otherwise safe and can be fired in semi-auto mode, it cannot be penalized. (See Rule 10.5.18 for more details.)

Yup, maybe we will see a new rule making a "zero or hero" strategy a match DQ. We are going to see a lot of folks going home early.
