      Good evening Steve.

       

      I'm happy to supply the info.  I just do not want to do it openly on the forum and give the impression I'm blasting one brand and recommending the other.

       

      The barrels that would not give me good accuracy at 100 yards:

       

      Barrel #1 - Stock gen 1 PSA 16" nitrided barrel with short throat.

      Barrel #2 - Same as #1 but throat opened up to allow longer loaded rounds.

      Barrel #3 - Newest generation PSA 16" nitrided barrel marked "PCC"

      Barrel #4 - Spinta 16" lightweight SS barrel (has short throat)

      Barrel #5 - Same as #4 but throat opened up.

       

      Target was an 8" paper plate on a 3' x 3' cardboard background.  None of the above barrels were able to keep 80% of the bullets on the target.  Every string would have at least two flyers out of 10.  Some flyers would increase the group size to over 10"

       

      Barrel #6 - Taccom ULW barrel.

       

      Zero'd at 100 yards. I was having no problem shooting 10 shot groups under 2" (several 1-3/8" groups).  I now have a 1x4 scope on this upper and will use it for longer range targets on UML matches.  I do not like how this barrel behaves on splits at shorter ranges so not my favorite barrel. (Just personal preference from my testing).

    bill,   go to Thunder gun range website , 1st sat match, OK match , tired of listening to Tom whine about the match we think he gets paid to run. Same stages every month , .  Conroe shooting academy , has changed names but used to run a 3 gun , 3 stages 2nd sunday.  3rd sat 3 gun match at area 59 run by rdpc and 4th sat 3 gun at ccc gun club in college station .  only long range shooting in a match 300 yds +  and a lot of running more 3 gun nation type of match

    Bill, I shoot these with Dave and kind of the same idea. Sends results by e-mail. Same stages, lots of paper,  always one with a clay thrower only. Has opened up what he calls the pit with a good mixed stage with some rifle out to about 100 yards. Very hot right now cause it is out of the wind. Shot the RDP 3-gun @ Area 59 Saturday, it was easy and fast bay type. 4-stages, 1-pistol, 1-rifle, 1 shotgun, 1-all 3. West Houston Shooters is the 2nd Saturday @ Impact and is OK with most bay type stages, sometimes one longer range stage out to 100. Heard there is a new range being built in Cleveland area that will have a 3-gun match out to 300 yards. Dissident match out @ CCC in Navasota is the best, Facebook & Practiscore. Registering is right now. Have to pre-register as it sells out and is limited to 60 shooters. Mix of bay, long range, and jungle run.
