Anyone else have issues with jhp? Im using PD 115 v2 and they will not feed for anything. They consistantly end up stovepiping instead of chambering. Have to remove the mag and rack to clear it.

Have you removed the ejector recently or at all?  I have an issue where I did not replace the Ejector E Clip properly to where the Ejector Pin fell out of the rifle.  Once I installed it correctly, what I did not know is the Ejector Spring had become Damaged in the process.  It was creating all kinds of ejection issues.  Once I replaced the spring all of my issues went away.

    Maybe something to look at.

What do you think about your magwell (techwells) vs the Taylor freelance?

I have ran both.  I prefer the Techwell, due to the material.  Soft (Delrin I believe) vs hard (Aluminum).

In all honesty it really does not matter in that it is rare that you reload PCC.  Mostly for classifiers and with a little training PCCs are not hard to load.

Delrin will be easier on your mags in the long run.

Great, more Titegroup for me, lol.

You can have it all.  That powder is horrible to clean out of any gun.  Seems like it sticks in the pitting of the metal.  N320 and Sport Pistol you only need to wipe it off to get it out of my guns.

Can anyone explain how to remove the ejector from the JP-5? It's probably very simple but I don't want to do anything to try and figure it out for myself (and potentially mess up) before asking

As explained above remove the E-Clip.  Note: take care when assembling everything back together correctly and make sure the inner center of the E-Clip, sits in the groove of the Ejector Pin correctly.  If you do not, you can run into all kinds of issues.  One possible one is the E-Clip falls out and the ejector pin fall out of the gun, becoming almost impossible to find.  The ejector then fall into the inside of the gun creating a malfunction.  I had this happen, and that ended up mangling the return spring under the ejector which created all kinds of malfunctions down the road when I replaced the E-Clip.  Anytime you reassemble the ejector, inspect the spring and make sure it is normal to prevent issues down the road.

  5. I have found with the Primer Pro, cleaning every 5K rounds helps greatly.  After cleaning, I usually use Simple green to clean the bowl, the plate, and the ramp.  Once clean and dry I spray Pledge (Yes the Lemon scented furniture polish Pledge) into a rag and "polish" the bowl, place and feed ramp.  This help keep the surfaces of the plastic slicker.  Then I assemble the plate back onto the bowl, only using finger tight pressure.  I will play with that pressure/tension applied using your fingers to tighten the screws that hold the plate to the bowl depending on which Primer I am using.  I have not used Fiocchi primers.  I have used CCI, Federal and Servicios Aventuras Primers without issue.  I have noted that I need different screw pressure to efficiently feed the primer being used.

  6. I do find it a little weird this is the battle they choose to fight.  I would like to know what brain trust came up with the idea.  This will do nothing to stop anyone from using points/second scoring.  I do not want to use the term "H!t Fa7or" scoring to avoid any future litigation.

I also find it equally weird that people who claim to attend and work numerous nationals do not seem to be worried in the least about USPSA's current burn rate.   From the outside it does not look like they have done anything to stop or even slow their spending.  Are we expected to believe that USPSA can continue to operate for years operating in the red?   They are not the Federal Government who can print their own money.

Ken Nelson of Practiscore has already written a post indicating that Practiscore will just use another name (as would everyone else) if USPSA were able to Trademark their term for points/per second.   Hell, if I were Practiscore I would just charge USPSA for using the site.  From my understanding Practiscore currently does not do that.   Pretty sure no one wants to go back to scoring on paper.

A lot of the top guys do not do this, so there's probably a reason that I'm wondering what that reason is?

Probably reliability of their guns.  In three years I have had only one malfunction with my ARs.

If you maintain them and their ammo is on point, they probably do no feel the need.   It does at a bit of weight to the gun.

is there any good reason not to have only coupled mags?

I run them in 3-Gun and some Tac Rifle matches if it makes sense for the stage.  The cool part about coupled mags is they make a nice Bi-Pod.  Through testing and due to body issues I have found I actually like using 40 round mags when Prone when resting the rifle on the magazine.  I find the 40 round mags agree with my neck angle and I find it easier to get on target.

I use the Taylor Freelance Mag Couplings. You replace the base pad of the magazine, and then bolt the mags together through the base pads.  Made of quality aluminum.  I have a 20 rounder mated to a 30 rounder and a 30 rounder mated to a 40 rounder.  Make sure you are mindful how you mate them so you do not cover the evection port.  You can reconfigure coupled magazine in less than a minute.

because nobody carries 40s or 45s any more, we should move everything to minor pf.  In reality, most defensive 9mm rounds are well above 125 pf and many are actually closer to 165 than 125.  Also, part of the game was learning how to manage recoil, which is a non-issue with minor pf.  At least for anyone with a moderate amount of training and experience.  If people want to do away with that, whatever.  But, it's kinda like Ironman saying we're not going to have a swim segment because some people don't like it.

I and some others pitched an idea of having an intermediate PF.  Say a floor of 150-155.  Close to self defense ammo as you are correct, 9mm self ammo is no where near 125 PF.  I think it would add an interesting wrinkle to the game.  Something different than CO, Limited, and Open.  But, alas people wanted nothing to do with that idea. A PF of 150 would also be a lot easier on guns.

Any ideas to help speed this along?

I am always mindful of the my off-hand grip pressure when dry firing.  I have found if I am no diligent maintaining the proper grip pressure that it suffers during competition.  Meaning you will not be able to do more than 15-20 minutes of dry fire per session.  Your forearm should be smoked.  If I have longer dry fire sessions, I am not gripping the gun properly and it allows me subconscious to think a lackadaisical grip is ok.

I do find when I am not on top of my dryfire, my proper grip suffers during competition.

No real change in the structure of the match.  Just not advertising it as USPSA, not running classifier and not sending results/activity fee to USPSA.  All the people in charge are still USPSA members and are RO/CRO with enforcement of safety.

This is similar to the conversation amongst the dozen or so clubs in our section.  I imagine not all clubs are going to agree, and it seems most clubs are leaving this to a vote of their respective board members.  It will be interesting on what happens.

If 100 members do not renew that doesn't move the needle considering all of the turnover there is yearly in membership.

I never measure the metrics of USPSA's economics on membership.   I do measure it on hundreds of clubs possibly holding back their USPSA fees.

I for one feel very strongly that we should hang in there with USPSA and give it some time to work things out.

I do not think it has been suggested to ditch USPSA for good.  I think what people are trying to do is make USPSA understand the membership on the whole (at least those that run the level 1 matches) are not happy with current board, organizations and decisions they are making.  By running something other than USPSA matches for a spell and further hurting the organizations pocket book seems the only power Level 1 clubs have.  If they feel the crunch the first quarter of 2024, maybe they will understand that they need to change their behavior.

Some of the board is trying to understand the current state of finances are and figure out how to fix the short falls, while some other board members and admin members of USPSA are making that very difficult.  The BoD for USPSA has been able to act unchecked for far too many years, and I think as many others do, that it is time for a reckoning.

People who have expressed the displeasure with the BoD has changed nothing.  The only real way to fix things in my eyes is to make it painful for the current BoD through finances.  Emails, and social media posts are not going to cut it.  Money talks.

Lack of a compensator and frame-mounted dot.

The comment was a bit tongue in cheek.  I am not creating an argument with you @shred, I just wanted to point out many would chirp, there is a place for your single action minor gun in Open.  People should not be allowed to use SA guns in CO and/or another division should not be created for single action minor guns.

If you haven’t watched the two most recent BOD meetings, I would suggest you take a look.

    They are here on YouTube

Yes, the videos are very telling by observing each board members demeanor and non verbal cues.  Things that cannot be picked up my simply reading Board minutes.  I am curious what a board meeting is like with some of the directors when the board meetings are not being live streamed.

I agree with @BritinUSAto fully understand what is going on and the dynamics of the board watch the videos of the Board meetings.

Currently, USPSA has in its coffers approximately 1.8 million, meaning if the Board continues to act in the current form regarding finances USPSA has a three to four years of runway at its current burn rate.  Something needs to change.  I am not telling anyone how to think who to vote for, what I am telling you is if you really care about USPSA as much as you claim, you may want become invested in what is going on.  The fact the members of the board are hindering other members of the board about understanding USPSAs finances is very telling and troubling.

If you truly care about USPSA the simple expression "I just want to shoot", is not going to cut it.
