  1. That IS a good idea. I was thinking of comparing results between Production and Production Optics in IPSC since the mag capacity limits are the same but that data is hard for us to get. IDPA is the same situation as IPSC but much more readily available.
  2. THAT gets me on edge every single time. Worse is when idiots who do that look at you like you have three eyes when you tell them why that's a bad idea.
  3. What I was implying was reloading a partially filled standard capacity mag after a stage in a capacity restricted division. It's easy to put that 11th or 12th round in if you don't completely empty the mag instead of just topping off Luckily the latest generation of CZ P-07/P-09/P-10 magazines (the ones with the orange follower) are so well made that the cartridge witness holes line up perfectly with the primer of the deepest cartridge all the way down to the bottom. No need for me to empty and count. Just look.
  4. Your post is what I see in the dictionary when I look up the meaning of the latin phrase "non sequitur"
  5. Gotta read 5.2 and comply with the applicable portions, then go to the appendices.
  6. It can be argued either way. Since the magazine is not in play.......
  7. Which has nothing to do with how many fit in the magazine if your mags hold more than 10 rounds. Personally I reload all magazines all the way up and set up my barney mag right after I finish a stage. Never leave that for later, based on hard earned experience.
  8. The only people who whine about DA triggers are complete noobs who've never shot one, people who never train, people who have no hand strength, or (most often) a combination of all three. If you're a noob who has never shot a DA pistol with a decent trigger, ask to do so at a match. Most will oblige. Even my s#!tty P-09 with its 7.5 lb trigger is not an issue. If you're someone who doesn't train and/or have weak hands, fix that before commenting.
  9. Throat erosion caused by powder flame temperature (primarily) and solid particle erosion (secondarily) are the principal mechanisms that "kill" barrels. This is significant in rifles. I've never heard of someone shooting a pistol barrel so much that throat erosion killed its accuracy. Not saying it happens, just saying I've never heard of it. There is so little powder in a handgun cartridge compares to what's in even a small centerfire rifle cartridge that I doubt you could shoot enough to kill a pistol that way. As far as copper eroding the rifling due to raw friction, you'll probably die of old age before that happens.
  10. I used to GAF about that when I started in sporting clays. Pretty soon "1st C class" in the state shoot became pretty meaningless. If you want recognition, go play for money in trap......
  11. The steel barrels are made of is orders of magnitude harder than the soft copper that's plated on a bullet. Most people in gun forums know absolutely nothing about basic metallurgy.
  12. LOLOL that must be why every noob here is told to shoot limited minor for their first few matches. We don't want those kinds of people
  13. Slide speed not directly related to slide mass? Yes, why yes you are.
  14. It all depends on slide speed. Anyone claiming something one way or the other is FOS unless they show their calculations. Yep, I'm a mechanical engineer........
  15. Man, might be time for that M9A3 that I had no reason to buy before...... Oh, I just saw the price..............pass
  16. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a P/CO mag limit closer to what comes from the factory.
  17. There's also no reason any more for production to have a national 10 round limit either.
  18. Exactly. The ban states and Canada run everything at 10 rounds without needing special divisions to tell them so. I still want production and carry optics at 15 rounds. Reloading 2-3 times instead of once is a non issue except for those who won't spend 30 min a week working on reloads during dry fire.
  19. Be that as it may, it is what needs to be done. Personally, I've been shooting target focus for close to ten years with irons since presbyopia started setting in. So the transition has been pretty seamless.
  20. That's certainly true, but it's only a piece of the puzzle. How we focus and where we focus is completely different. I know you know that but I keep mentioning it because I think more people struggle with this focus issue than they care to admit. Many don't know that they need to focus differently so they can't figure out why they're still slow.
  21. You have to unlearn almost everything you know about using your eyes to shoot a pistol.
  22. You're making the same exact blanket statement that I made, just in the opposite direction. I know no one personally that carriers a pistol with a light. I've looked at the holsters of officers in my township police and deputies in my county. They don't have WMLs. Neither does the state highway patrol.
