  1. So far I've loaded close to 1500 rounds with the Murom brand Russian primers and have shot 500 to 600 rounds without a single failure of any sort. Depending on the brass headstamp they can be tough to seat but I use that as hand strength exercise. The only annoyance is that they tend to flip on their side inside my RCBS priming tool which slows the process down. They're ok when beggars can't be choosers but I can't wait until CCI primers are available again.
  2. NO MORE RULE CHANGES!!! Who was that screeching same not too long ago?
  3. The replace it with a G model decocker. Or flick it back to off after you use it to decock (F model)

I'm talking about a very specific point. But thanks for trying to turn this into a strawman. You should try harder next time.

That's right, so if a shooter manually decocks to some position other than hammer fully down he gets bumped to open because he started the course of fire in violation of his division firearm ready condition. Let's remember that despite your opinion the course of fire starts when the RO issues the make ready command and ends when the RO states range is clear. It can't be any more clear despite your personal opinion and an NROI explanation is not needed. I would have thought a CRO would understand all of that.

No, the rules say that course of fire begins when the RO says make ready despite the personal opinions of others.

I apply rules as written. Intent is something other, bush league, sports do. If the literal interpretation is the wrong one then re-write it so the meaning is clear. The first rule (don't be a dick) is all about how one behaves not how one applies the rules as written.

The first condition (fully cocked and safety off) is a DQ. The second instance is (hammer cocked and safety on) is just an incorrect start condition and I would inform the shooter as to why I'm not continuing with range commands. Unlike the hammer manually lowered to any position besides fully down, trying to start cocked and locked in Production or CO isn't a bump to open.

The special condition that you refer to exists only in the carry optics appendix. It doesn't exist in the production appendix. All it says is that the pistol must comply with the correct firearm start condition. Which is redundant information from chapter 8. Special condition 1 does state a clear cause and effect relationship between manually decocking to a position that isn't all the way down and being moved to open division. I highlighted that cause and effect in my quote. In my view the timing is immediate: you go to open the instant you've finished lowering the hammer to anything other than the bottom. At this point I'd be interested in hearing from other ROs on this.
  12. So instead you change one of the critical dimensions (as established by the design of the pistol) of your barrel? It's why loads are worked up, not taken straight from the middle or top end. I haven't found a factory loading that won't chamber in any of my CZs or Glocks, so their shorter throats don't seem to be a problem for ammo manufacturers. Come to think of it I don't recall a single reload of mine (rifle, pistol, or shotgun) that didn't deviate in at least some small way from the "book"

The only action needed to get a bump to open is to lower the hammer manually to half cock. Starting the course of fire with the hammer at half cock is not a requirement for the penalty. Special condition 1 of appendix D4 (SC 1/App D7 reads the same in this regard). Emphasis mine
  14. ETS mags (at least their 22 rounders) are complete junk. Their springs must be made of complete s#!t steel and they must have forgotten to do the tempering. The springs took extreme sets and lasted less than two months of practice before they became unable to push rounds all the way up to the lips. Threw them all in the trash as they became useful only for malfunction practice. Won't every buy anything made by ETS no matter what. Glock 10 rounds mags are equally worthless. Could never get through one whole mag without a malfunction, usually towards round #10. Magpul 10 rounders work with ten rounds in them, but I only normally use them for barney mags or practice so I can't vouch for long term reliability. Same for Magpul 17 rounders. Pro-Mag makes a clone of the OEM mag but I don't have any experience with them. They're cheap enough that they're worth a try. If they suck, I'm out $15 for each.
  15. Glocks don't have thumb safeties. What on earth are you talking about?
  16. Prepping means to start pulling the DA trigger while the gun is on the way to the target. There is quite a bit of nuance to it that I'm not going to go into. Suffice it to say, it's not a universally recommended practice.

I understand it's a local match. Doesn't make a difference to me when I RO.

No, that is not what I said. He should have been moved to open as soon as the RO found the pistol in the incorrect starting condition. The point is that he gets moved to open as soon as he was discovered violating the firearm start condition regardless of what happened before. The move to open affects scoring for the entire match, including stages already scored.

Doesn't matter. His entire match will now be scored (including any completed stages) as him being in open division. Also, moving the hammer all the way down after you get caught is irrelevant from a penalty point of view. You can't "undo" a rule violation by fixing it after you commit it. You do have to fix the firearm ready condition to comply with division requirements before an RO who knows what he's doing will let you start the course of fire.

Move the shooter to Open in PS with the appropriate power factor checked.

He should have been moved to Open division and then allowed to continue. See Special Condition 1 of appendix D7 or D4 as appropriate to his division. I bet that at least 90% of competitors don't actually know the rules as they pertain to their equipment and division. They just go by what they've heard or been told at matches.
  22. Make sure they fit the mag gage. My SI Glock 17 extensions do, the one I bought for P-10F/P-09 magazines does not.
  23. That depends entirely on the design of the plate system you're comparing it to. With Glock, S&W, and SIG, you're likely right. With CZ, not at all.
  24. Very nice. Will def incorporate into my dry fire. Question: do you prefer to remain static until all the belt mags are loaded and then move while you load the gun? The other option is grab everything and stuff things into the belt and into the gun as you move. My concern with that option is now the mag pouches are moving around as my hips move.
