Yeah the 225gr bullets solve the problem as well. I bought some from a guy but have no idea what brand or where they came from. Any recommendations on sourcing those?

We have a couple in our LGS... I was able to fondle it for some time, but it makes me even less of a Glock fan.  It felt very “plastic” but that probably because most Glocks we sell get sent to our back shop for stippling.  It’s definitely one of those relics that can be appreciated for its age though.

Skateboard tape would stick nicely to a Gen 1 frame, so it seems.

My understanding is the Gen5 replaced the Gen4, that is why the Gen4 was discontinued. The Gen3 is still made for the California market as that was the last generation on the roster. The California market keeps the demand for the Gen3 in place.

Maybe, but a lot of new Gen 3's showing up in LGS , so Glock is pushing them out as more than just a Cali gun, I'm thankful.

They're pretty cool.  Some people just like the aesthetic and feel of the old Gen1's.  "Retro" is IN, man....

Yes, I like that Gen 1 grip, but not enough to hand over $700. Gen 2's are my first choice, then Gen 3's

I find my G22 with nice .40 minor loads from Atlanta Arms shoots even softer than my G34 with Winchester White Box ammo.

So much that I’m considering letting the G34 go...

    yes, excellent point

Probably because it’s more financially beneficial to cut slight dimensional variations in their slides than to produce something too easily interchangeable. Most ‘normal’ shooters aren’t aware of aftermarket conversion barrels (much like the OP). Glock is far better off selling another gun for $500 with a build cost of $30-$40 than allow everyday gun owners to swap barrels.

Or engineering might have something to do with it?????

That's a pretty good find, Scott.

Was it by any chance a Blue Label gun?

Negative, 2 magazines with it, but I like the finish, not that shiny frying pan coating, closer to that old flat black phosphate look.

And I did not realize that the 35 can easily be converted into a 9mm.

It can be, but if it was so reliable and fool proof, why would Glock inc even make 9mm slides? Why not save the money, and cut only 40 cal slides for both 9mm/40 cal. Something to think about.

thanks for the info, I was wondering what the difference in gen 1 vs gen 2, that makes sense, and the tuning makes sense for mags with heavy use and dropping them.  MBX seems to be the most popular without a doubt,  do most use mags that lock the slide back or do they use comp mags?  I have never liked mags that didnt lock the slide back but planned reloads it wouldnt make a lot of difference.

Gen 1 sti mags are some of the most durable mag tubes you can find. I had some I used for 8 years in uspsa matches, not one went out of spec.

  10. First vid I ever bought on shooting was Ron's "Secrets of a professional shooter" . Was able to talk with him a couple of times at a match. Good man,........... rest in peace...Godspeed
