  1. Rishii, I didn't want to expound ad nauseum about the ammo, but that's close to what I have read. My thoughts are: pull thirty and find the average charge weight. Reduce by 20% for ten rounds, 15% for ten rounds, and 10% for ten rounds. Test fire, and either make a decision on how much to reduce them all, or test further.
  2. My apologies, I put this in the wrong forum.
  3. Maybe I'll Shok Buff and Alumabuff anyway, for the .38 Super at least. I'm going to try a 20# spring with it to shorten the hike to find my brass!
  4. It was military ammo that some say was only for submachine guns. I feared for that aluminum frame too. Tech Support at Brownells told me Colt uses 18# springs. .38 Super is quite a bit hotter than most 9mm, so I was surprised. Perhaps they use it only in the Lightweight models.
  5. A little advice please. I inherited 500 rds of the (in)famous L7A1 9mm ammo. Many of you will recognize that it is loaded VERY HOT. Will a Colt Lightweight Commander hold up, with a heavier recoil spring and perhaps a Wilson Shok Buff? thank you.
  6. Hello everyone. I inherited 500 rds of the infamous L7A1 9mm ammo. Many of you will recognize that it is loaded VERY HOT. I have a Colt LIghtweight Commander in .38 Super that I'm rebarreling to 9mm. Apparently, Colt uses an 18# recoil spring in both. Will the pistol hold up to that stoked-up ammo with a heavier spring? Brownells has up to 24#. Are Wilson's Shok Buff pads any good? Thank you.
