  1. I carry a magazine on a magnet at my 6 o'clock. I only ever use that mag to stoke my gun with a round when I make ready. The only reason I carry it there is because its a PITA to try to fish it out of a pocket. I'll typically have that magazine out in my hand when I get to the line before I'm told to "Load and make ready." My first mag and every mag during the course of fire comes out of a pouch. I've never had an RO say anything, but I know I'm playing with fire. I also typically shoot small local matches so I'm sure most of the RO's either don't know, don't even notice or just let it slide...
  2. After the state got sued they finally overturned their ruling about gun sales not being essential. But ranges are still not considered “essential”
  3. The bucket is genius! I'm a pipe fitter for the utility company. All of my gear and tools go right into 5 gallon buckets at work. I don't know why I didn't think of that...
  4. I've been home for a couple of weeks now with nowhere to shoot, so I've been organizing all my gear. Currently my belts just sit in a pile on top of my safes. That bothers me since I'm a little OCD. So it got me thinking, how do you all store you gear? Anyone have their stuff on a special rack, thrown in a box? Lets see what you got!
  5. I’m a first responder and an “essential employee” so it sucks even more lol
  6. x2 Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black. Matches pretty well. Great for touching up little nicks in the finish.
  7. With Glock frames I'll use finer and finer sandpaper, followed up with some polishing compound on a felt buffing wheel on the Dremel. If there is any discoloration after that, some black shoe polish to blend it all in works wonders!
  8. Every range I belong to in NJ is closed because the governor decided ranges are "not essential". I have been home loading all this ammo, with nowhere to go and shoot it. I have a couple of new guns that I can't shoot. The weather is getting nice and warm again, perfect weather to go shoot outside, but everything is closed! I'm going out of my mind. I wish I owned a big piece of property where I can shoot in my backyard. End rant...
  9. Keep us posted as to what happened to change them and how the process goes.
  10. That set up will work perfectly for years to come. Its pretty much what I run and see almost every other production class shooter running.
  11. A guy at my local club had one. It’s on par with the midway and stuff. Not the best or most rigid, but it works. I think you’d be better off spending the extra few bucks on the DAA or CR etc.
  12. I did it once when shooting a steel challenge match. I only loaded up about 8 rounds in each of my mags. Shot all 5 strings with 5 rounds each and then just forgot to reload the mags for the next stage. When it was my turn to shoot again, there was a lot of bang, bang, bang, click, @$&/@! Needless to say I never made that mistake again!
  13. I had a Midway belt too and switched to a CR Speed a while back. The CR speed is way better. The Midway one is now a spare Incase a buddy wants to shoot.
  14. While we are on the topic of grips too small/large... What is most important when gripping with the dominant hand, more grip and contact on the front and back strap, or more grip and contact on the sides? For example, I’ve been running the thin bogies for a while now, and I notice that there is sometimes a little bit of an “air gap“ between my dominant palm and grip sides.
  15. Unfortunately my local indoor range is the same. It’s more of an old bullseye league social club than a pistol range. They don’t allow drawing from a holster, and they really frown upon “rapid fire” in general. I too will go from low ready a lot to work on that sight picture. Or I’ll keep the gun close to my chest, drive it forward, align my sights and break a shot as quickly as possible. It’s a good place to practice shooting weak hand as well. I also usually save a bill drill for right as I’m leaving to avoid the dirty looks. I may bring my belt one day and just practice reloads. I’ll see how well that goes over with the RO’s...
  16. My STI has the new G2 style grip. I’m noticing that a lot of the aftermarket magazine releases out there say they don’t work with the G2 grip. I know it’s still relatively new on the market, but does anyone have any recommendations for one that’ll work?
  17. I love mine so far. But as everyone else has stated, it’s not really what I would consider a “competition gun” It’s more geared towards a duty gun. Maybe the P stands for Patrol? Idk. My CZ has a lighter trigger. But with a little trigger work I think the P would hold its own at a match.
  18. Like a lot of guys already said...Buy once cry once. You'll end up spending more money swapping out parts down the road. That being said, if you are on a tight budget, spend the money on a high quality belt first. As far as everything else goes, I ran a comp-tac holster and hanger for years and ghost pouches. They are all pretty affordable. The holster and hanger have all been upgraded, but I still use and love the ghost pouches.
  19. Had the thin aluminum for a bit, then I switched to thin bogies. Never looked back.
  20. I see so many companies making aftermarket parts for the Rugers with little to no love for the Buckmarks. So when it was time to turn my old bullseye gun into a steel challenge gun, I was very happy to find Striplin Gun Works. It’s nice to see someone making some stuff for the Buckmarks too! I got a set of their 1911 grip adapters, *thumb rest [generic]* and slide racket. These things are great, well made, fit great and they were very responsive and a pleasure to work with. So for anyone looking to give their buckmark a facelift check them out.
  21. Is there a specific thread on the forum for people to leave a good review for different parts, work etc?
  22. I believe so...I just purchased one off eBay and one off gun broker. Both said “brand new gen2, 10rds” but I also haven’t gotten them in the mail yet, so time will tell!
  23. All good ideas guys. Guess I'll have to put a little more time in with these guys...
