  1. At gulf coast blackout was 178 out of my open gun (Not an MPA). Every time I chrono black dot it ends up between 178-180. Hot, but it's been very reliable and accurate. I wish it was a little more around 170-172
  2. You are not old at all. I started at 29, 33 now and I don't see a disadvantage physically to younger shooters. I think if you are physically capable of standing for the duration of the match, you will be good. Good luck!
  3. He has full classes posted on there and many different topics from gear to training. He's putting a lot of great information out for free!
  4. what was your wait time for the priest ? Did you go with the hybrid grip ? Thanks
  5. Thank you for this awesome review. How do you like their iron setup (the rear inside the sro?)
  6. For the folks getting 2011s built for LO, are you going with backup irons or just dot ?
  7. I’ve been using 9.7gr with 124 Everglades RN 172 PF, 8lb recoil spring. comp works great but you definitely feel it in the hand. A friend gave me a few rounds loaded with 7.8gr of silhouettes, dot tracking was about the same but it felt a little softer. So I got some silhouette to try soon since I’m entertaining the idea of being able to use 7.8gr.
  8. Has anyone used a magwell with this yet ?
  9. If it’s more than 26-27 or 26 and some steel I’ll start with 155 and reload to another 155. 170s if 25 and less. 140 is backup and Barney
  10. I had my first open gun built by Bad Dog Customs out of Coleman Tx. Check my post history, I posted a little write up about my experience.
  11. Bad Dog customs 9 major 2011. 5 inch barrel with akai comp and 2 poppleholes
  12. This past weekend I Chrono’d 9.0, 9.2, 9.4, 9.6/9.7. (I have all the data if anyone wants it) The 9.7 had the least amount of dot bounce and felt better/“softer” than the rest. I’m using a 7# spring. But like others said, practice and dry fire is the most important.
  13. I just got these results on Sunday. 9.6-9.7 aa7 over 124gr Everglades RN. 9 major Bad dog customs open gun.
  14. I’ve been using these for my first open load. Chrono’d today at 170-175 with 9.6grn of aa7. Good accuracy too.
  15. Just talked to colt: bdcguns@yahoo.com +1 (325) 214-4296 / call or text. Leave a voice mail if he doesn’t answer, might not hear it right away.
  16. I’ll be happy to send anyone videos of the gun running at matches, just PM me your number or you can add me on instagram at thepage.of.eli , I post videos on there. Gun has been running great. I’ve used blackdot ammo and reloads with aa7 and blazer brass processed by Everglades. it did also cycle factory 124gr but obviously the comp didn’t work to its full ability. Finally bought a chrono so I’ll be doing some more ammo testing this weekend. Blackdot ran amazing, just a little too hot at 180-182pf.
  17. Miss shooting with you too, hopefully I’ll be back in Area 6 soon. Thank you all for the replies, Colt makes great guns and I’m really excited to run this and hopefully win some matches with it
  18. Funny, I took my grip tape off recently and wish I had done it sooner. I prefer the chalk without it
  19. Black Dot Chrono data, 2 holes, Akai comp: 1458 1479 1451 1463 1467 1452 1466 1461 1449 1466 1431 1435 1458 1447 Temp: 50 degrees Humidity: 33% Elevation: 1488 ft Cycled perfectly but just a little too hot out of my gun, in my opinion.
  20. Inspired by @engineerjet's experience post so I thought I would write my experience with Bad Dog Custom Guns. I have been shooting USPSA since 2019, mainly in carry optics but have always wanted to shoot Open division. Since moving to West Texas I have been shooting with a lot of guys running Bad Dog custom guns and the builder himself, Colt. I was able to shoot a few different Open and Limited guns built by Bad Dog customs and see a lot of them run flawlessly run during matches. I liked the idea of actually knowing who is building my gun so I decided to ask Colt to build me one in 9 Major. I gave him the deposit on 23NOV22 and he estimated the build will take 4 months. I took possession of the pistol on 17FEB23. 3 Months! Colt asked me exactly what I wanted, helped me decide on parts combination, and advised on what will and won't work. Keep in mind this is my first open gun so having someone answer the million questions I had was very assuring. I also got to pick the exact slide design I wanted, which was neat. He also asked me to send him my MBX magazines so he can make sure they will work with the gun. During the 3 months, Colt regularly sent me picture and video updates on the different stages of my build and continued to answer any questions I had. The day I went to pick up my gun he had ammo ready for me to test fire. I also brought some ammo with me that I was able to shoot. At pickup he went over the gun with me in detail, cleaning and service recommendations, and even offered to show me how to take the grip apart in the future when I need to. I am extremely happy with my experience with Bad Dog Custom Guns out of Coleman, Tx and would recommend them to anyone. Check them out on FB and Instagram if you want, Bad Dog Custom Guns: https://instagram.com/baddog_customs?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Here is a picture of my open gun:
  21. Thank you for making this. Very informative (I had no idea what a trigger dyno was before this). Are you going to test the performance trigger with a minus connector ? Ive seen some posts/videos of folks getting around 2.5lbs using a (-) connector and performance trigger.
  22. They sell 38sc but the 9 that’s certified is 9 minor. They won’t be making 9 major anytime soon. I wish tho since I live so close to them
  23. Awesome, thank you. Got some coming and gonna test them out soon!
  24. Is it a service they do only for Atlas guns or any open gun ?
