  1. When I have a split between 3 of out instructors (2-1) agreeing with me, and 4 other RM's agreeing with me I have a problem with this situation. While you are certainly entitled to your opinion that's all it is. Only one person speaks with finality on rule matters and that is the DNROI. I'll wait for his answer.
  2. I cant fix what has already been done. All I can do is search for whatever DNROI says is the correct call. Then I can use that for future matches. We had a wealth of senior RM and RMI knowledge at the match. Not all agreed, so we need clarification from someone who is authorized to make that decision.
  3. Don't know if anyone asked. However, since inquiring minds want to know, including myself, i will send an e-mail today.
  4. Send the shooter to remedial reading class.
  5. Once again a problem that doesn't happen with a proper WSB.
  6. Dan not trying to be cute, but if you were DNROI this would be a done deal. However, he is the only voice that counts.
  7. That's ok. That's why I get paid the big bucks......wait a minute.
  8. USPSA is most often a constant state of confusion.
  9. You may be right, but I need DNROI to tell me I am wrong. With all due respect to this forum or any other forum, he is the only voice that matters. I didn't uphold this call operating in a vacuum. Despite statements here to the contrary, I'm not looking for ways to punish shooters, but I will enforce the rules as I understand them, until told otherwise by DNROI.
  10. I certainly think this issue needs clarity, but since I don't have that authority, I'll go with my understanding until told otherwise by DNROI. I see a distinction between pre-start signal and post- start signal.
  11. You are correct sir! One should never try to always use memory as your reference
  12. As I understand it, and until told otherwise by DNROI, the mag retainers applys to before the start signal, unless otherwise stated in the WSB. All shooters, regardless of division, must start in a legal configuration per 5.2.4. As an Open shooter they are not restricted as to placement of magazines as Production, Carry Optics, and Single Stack are.. So after the start signal they may stow their mags anywhere but their mouth.
  13. I totally agree and advocated for exactly that. It was not accepted though. To me it is part of freestyle.
  14. One of our senior RMI's made the initial call's. I confirmed it based on a violation of appendix E3. Until told otherwise by DNROI, the rules allow Production, Single Stack, and Carry Optics to carry additional magazines behind the forward point of the hip bone per E3. This means mainly hip pockets, otherwise retention devices attached to the competitors belt and "specifically" designed for that purpose must be used. A holster does not meet this specification. 5.2.4.1 allows these shooters to also carry a load magazine or unload magazine in the front pocket as long as it is used for specific purposes. 5.2.4.2 allows for hand carry. 6.2.5.1 calls for a move to open dvision for violation of equipment rules. FWIW, I asked three other RM's and two other RMI's who were at the match about the call. All the RM's agreed, and one RMI disagreed with his fellow RMI.
  15. Disassemble it first Some times it is easier to leave the barrel installed rather than trying to hold a lose barrel and pound the squib at the same time. As an example, revolvers are somewhat more difficult to disassemble than automatics. However, to each his own.
  16. I would say no. There are limited ways to clear a squib without sweeping. Even cleaning the barrel involves sweeping.
  17. Ive experienced this at the Reno Nationals. DQ situation, one RO said yes the other RO said no. After some discussion about us looking foolish to attempt to DQ someone in this scenario,, and the calling RO stating he might have not had the best angle, I awarded the shooter a re-shoot. No hurt feelings and as been stated a teaching situation.
  18. Find an overlay and try the actual measuring device. You might be surprised or maybe not.
  19. The rule is 2 1/8 if that helps.
  20. I use all available legal data. If one of my RO's tells me he/she is 100 percent sure of a previous score, then I am good with that. Many times an RO will score the same target or targets. Remembering a non pasted no shoot hit, hard cover hit or previous hits on the scoring target is not unusual. If I'm not comfortable with the process, reshoot.
  21. I'd like to test some of those targets for gunshot residue
  22. If the RM orders a re-shoot, as part of their scoring duties, your options are re-shoot or take a zero.
  23. You can't arb a scoring issue. It stops with the RM.
