  1. Got to the range today. Gun worked flawlessly no issues. First five shot group of handloads measured .468 at 100 yards. Had no issues hitting small plates (4 inch) at 400 yards. Color me me a happy camper.
  2. Got my 6 ARC project gun back today. Looks great. I'll try to post some pictures.
  3. I've been watching those. Pretty nice. I hope to get mine finished shortly.
  4. It did work, however I think this set up will be better. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Well the stock has been milled for the AICS bottom metal and the gun is leaving for the cerakote finish to be applied. Hope to have a picture or two shortly.
  6. 1978 and I believe unfired.
  7. Had an excellent day at a local pawn shop. Went in to buy some shoot-n-see targets and on the way out took a glance at a small viewing case where he keeps special guns. There was a "used" but as close to new as you can get, Colt Single Action 7 1/2 inch 45 LC. Blue with perfect case hardened frame. Just the faintest turn line on the cylinder. It's now joined a proud group of adopted playmates
  8. Had my first range day with my 6 ARC. I only had 13 rounds of Factory 105 BTHP to work with. The gun is not finished yet, but very shootable. After establishing a 100 yard zero, that was an inch. I moved to our 400 yard range. With some help from Strelok I hit small plates at 200, 300, and 400 yards. Ran out of ammo way too quick. The gun is a very pleasant gun to shoot. Now to start working up a few handloads and get back out before the weather turns bad. All considered, I'm very happy. Gary
  9. It is the AWT "Tomahawk" short action , which is based on the Remington 700 footprint, with a .440 diameter bolt face. We are waiting on my stock to arrive.
  10. I'm leaving that up to Don. He thinks he can use a Wyatt 308 metal mags because of their long feed lips. May require a bit of tweeking, but we will get there.
  11. Advanced Weapons Technology is building me a 6 ARC bolt gun. I am really looking forward to receiving it.
  12. I found this out the hard way, kinetic energy plays a part on how a popper falls. Light faster bullets versus slower heavier bullets.
  13. My dealer called his distributor and was told they had 8700 orders backed up. He said the end of this year at the earliest. FWIW.
  14. Did a final sight adjustment today. Had a 1/3 size steel target at 50 yards. Sight picture, trigger squeeze, very loud noise, and a center hit. Thats all folks. Very happy with the new Python.
  15. Well initial range report, the good the bad and the ugly. There is no ugly. Having said that, I'm not a big fan of the rear sight. The windage adjustment does not have any clicks. You loosen a set screw and adjust the sight. When you are happy, you turn the set screw back down with a touch of thread locker. This adjustment results in too much trial and error. When shooting full house 357 magnums from a bench this results in a lot of felt recoil. Hopefully I can attach a picture of the initial results. 15 yards, Remington 125 JHP, 1400 fps. OUCH!!!!!! When I get the final windage adjustment where I want it and the set screw re-locktited down I will be a happy camper.
  16. Other than the shot show, has anyone seen a real live DWX in a store?
  17. I don't think so to any great extent. It might keep them from going up like a rocket though.
  18. Not an expert by any means, but one thing is they took 13 parts out of the fire control system. This made the new gun more of a shooter than a safe queen. The originals would after time get out of time and require work. I have the 4.25 inch. It has a removable red ramp front sight. The DA is not as good as the old Python in one sense, but it doesn't stack. The SA on mine could be lighter, but I bet it will get better. I have no issues with fit and finish. i have a beautiful safe queen, this baby will be a shooter
  19. Picked up my new Production Colt Python today. Looks good, trigger pull is nice. Range report to follow. I was first on a list of 20 waiting to buy.
  20. I hear you. Trying to keep your rule set in tune with manufacturers is not really possible though. Someone will I'll always be making a better mousetrap and people will buy it. Then the harping will begin to change the rules so their gun can be legal. I guess one possible solution is to basically give up and make the rules so expansive that hard decisions don't have to be made. Now where have I seen that in practice?
