  1. DVR'd a block of Olympics that was supposed to have shooting. Got home and fast-forwarded through it and didn't see a second of shooting sports coverage. Instead there was a womans basketball game that ended sixty-something to fourty-something. Went back through slower and I caught a couple of outdoorsy advertisements for one of the larger sporting goods big-box stores during said basketball game. I'm betting that said store didn't pay for basketball.

I know NBC hates guns, but it's the freeking OLYMPICS! Oh well, a couple more weeks and I can go about my buisness of ignoring this joke of a network except for three hours a week during football season.

  2. Don't forget the cost of the sights themselves. I looked at doing something like this as a learning experience. It was cheaper than a new shadow Custom, but I realized it would be one of those projects I start and never seem to finish.

  3. I have the techwell SP on my Les Baer and I am looking for mags. I settled on the ETMs but I don't know whether I need the 500 or 500c. Or if I am going to have to pick up basepads because of the depth of the magwell. FWIW the stock baer mag works well.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. So, I've been married to a wonderful woman for three years and an handful of days. I love the hell out of her, seriously she is perfect. She is the black sheep of the family, but only because she isn't the perfect Mormon daughter and she married a heathen Lutheran. Her family on the other hand drives me crazy with their lack of boundaries and well, sometimes cooth.

Like after we got engaged, her mom gave her younger sister-who was already engaged for some months-her grandmother's engagement ring until her fiance could buy something better(than what I got my wife was what I read into it).

Or after they got married, but before our wedding, we were all going to California for her cousin's wedding. It somehow came up at dinner that they had just bought eight plane tickets(Father, mother, three sisters, brother, my wife and the brother-in-law). My darling just about lost it right there at the table because they were buying him a ticket and not one for me. Chosing my words carefully, I told her it wasn't a big deal since I had already budgeted tickets for the both of us, since she was my fiance and it was my job to support her.

Or the time that the aformentioned sister and fiance got married and he took an internship in Germany. The inlaws paid for the entire family to go visit except for my wife and I, since we had jobs. My truck got offered to help haul luggage to the airport. But their car broke down on the way, so SIX people crowded into my Tacoma extended cab and away they went.

Or when my wife's grandmother passed not long after we found out she was pregnant. At the time we were trying to pile up money and get out of debt in case of any unforseens(if you are a Ramsey person, you will understand) and flying to Utah for the funeral realy wasn't in the budget. But my best friend is an airline pilot and offered us buddy passes, I managed to make things work at work and I sold a gun I didn't shoot much to cover the expenses. After all that, my mother-in-law spent most of the time complaining that the rest of the family wasn't there. I get being distraught, but it was hardly unexpected and I had moved heaven and earth to get my wife and I there.

All that really doesn't bother me. What bothers me about all that is that it bothers my wife.

Then there was this weekend when her brother invited himself to a grill out I we were having with friends and proceded to pitch a multi-level marketing travel program to my friends.

But what really bothers me is that in the morning, my mother and father-in-law are taking MY TRUCK and driving it from Iowa to Arizona to get her share of the stuff from the estate of grandma. The truck that I worked long and hard to save for. The one that I spent hours researching. The one that gets washed every week and has rarely seen the tach above 2500. The nicest thing that I have ever owned, aside from our house. Was I even asked? No, that went through the wife. What will I be driving in my beloved truck's basence? An early 90's Saturn. The SAME CAR that died on the way to the airport. That is what I have to get to work for the next two days and all of Memorial Day weekend.

Now I will grant you that my mother-in-law watches our son on the weekdays. But all the other siblings have been assured that they will receive the same treatment and she offered, we never asked. However that isn't good enough for me. I bought them a new deep freeze when theirs was going south, we are paying for family pictures and about half a dozen other things because I don't like owing anyone anything.

Don't get me wrong, they are nice people, but I guess the way I was raised I just don't ask for or expect anyone else to take care of me now that I am an adult. I felt ashamed to accept buddy passes, I think I would pass out while attempting to ask someone to drive their truck half way accross the country and back.

Thanks for listening to me vent and PLEASE tell me if I am being a selfish douche. I was an only child for awhile, so it is a possibility.

  5. Girlfriend dumped me for another guy(that she had probably already slept with) while I was in the military. I did the self-destructive drinking and man-whoring thing for awhile...don't do that. Now my life is good. A few weeks ago i ran into her at a bar. Divorced with four kids and living with some guy. She asked me to "take her home". I laughed in her face until i had a coughing fit. Talk about a zen moment.

  6. That's not what I'm saying and for the fart comment I really don't care honestly. I'm saying kids are kids and I do reprimand my toddler but an infant?!?!? Come one guys and I do agree that they should not take them to certain places but if I have an infant child and I wanna go eat at a place then I'm not gonna dump the infant off just to go. Being a parent not only includes making a child mind but it also means they are yours to take care of not put off on a babysitter so I can go eat and cause some people don't like a baby that cries. Infants scream and cry that's how communicate.

That's why they created the job of baby sitter.

Do you know how hard it is to find a babysitter you trust with your infant. Bratty kids are one thing, but infants are another. I'm sure back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, all of you complaining about infants were one and may have annoyed your fair share of people. It's life, get over it.

  7. Either of those will be fine, the only difference is the adjustable sites, which is a matter of personal preference.

10 rounders are available, just ask when you place your order

  8. 1. CZ 75 Shadow Custom. Great trigger, fixed sites and makes weight if you want to play the IDPA game for more trigger time.

    2. CR Speed or DAA, the choice for me came down to color.

    3. I like the OEM 18/19 rounders that came with my Shadow Custom. I bought 5 more for consistency and I suggest the same.

    4. I like my Comptac belt feed, but it isn't for everyone. If you have limited real estate on the belt, it is a good option, if a little pricey.

    5. Gold standard for reloading seemed to be 124 grn Montana Gold bullets over 4 grns of N320 and a federal primer. Factory? WWB is cheap, so buy alot and shoot alot, just save your brass and money for a reloader.

    6. Holster, bladetech dropped and offset is great for production and the hanger can be removed for IDPA. Big +1 for slide glide and Brian's book. After 20 months and between 3 and 4 thousand rounds, my gun still cycled sub-power factor ammo without fail. Just slather the stuff on, wipe off the excess and pretend you've got a Glock with ergonomics.

  9. My peeve is someone standing there with a handful of scratch offs.... Then when they finally check to make sure they did not win they spend the next 5 minutes pointing out the next half dozen cards they want to a moronic clerk.......with 6 or 8 people standing there wanting to pay for a soft drink.

    +1000000

  10. I love my belt feed from comptac. I'm skinny so belt space is at a premium. I've never had an issue like yours.

I'm not so skinny... you picking on me?? roflol.gif

I ment the sticking issue. However I do have a problem typing faster than I can think. If only I could apply that to shooting ...

  11. In terms of spare parts...

    Slide stop

    Extractor

    Extractor spring

    Trigger return spring

    Recoil spring

    Firing pin

    Firing pin spring

    Grips

I detail-strip whichever of my competition pistols is being used regularly every few months, or shortly before majors. I will strip out everything save the trigger, trigger pin, and trigger bar. (Mainly because I'm lazy and don't like fiddling with getting the trigger back in with a slave pin.)

Cleaning the extractor is easy. Punch out the extractor pin, the extractor and spring will come out easily. Clean it, put the spring back in, then the extractor, then hold the extractor in place while driving the pin back into position.

Do you drive the pin out from the top or bottom? Is it held in with just spring pressure?
