Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I carry every handgun I own. Besides which, the mags have to be transported unloaded. I’d hate to have 2 standard capacity mags with a round or two left in them from the range, make it into my truck for the trip home inadvertently and become a felon. I’ll have some mags that stay at home unmolested and some for leaving the house. We’ve got 90 days before the mags can’t be taken anywhere but to amd from the range, gun store, etc.. I want to take the time to make sure I have working solutions for all the guns I have that hold more than 15 rounds. Putting a 15 round limiter in a Staccato C2 16 round mags, is just retarded though. Not that any of this isn’t.
  2. So they limited capacity to 15 rounds. Our illustrious governor is signing it tonight. Mags can’t be readily converted back to full capacity. I’ve seen post where people talk about epoxying the blocks in place or riveting the baseplate somehow. Is there a way to do this where you can still disassemble the mags for cleaning? ETA: I watched the mag block video. I get how they work now. Do they hurt reliability? Video
  3. Well it looks like IL is about to go the way of the other ban states and limit mag capacity to 12 rounds. I’m not going to get into a will/will not comply thing. However I will need some 12 round mags for matches (the new legal limit if this thing passes). Does anyone offer a service to modify magazine capacity, like dimpling they mags. I’m looking for 9mm 2011,, M&P and Beretta mags to be modified to hold 12 rounds. I can probably buy 10 round Beretta and M&P mags easily enough, but would rather have the legal limit, 12 rounders.
  4. Grey Ghost Precision is now selling, what appears to be, serialized P80 frames with their brand. They are also making complete guns. I would think that they would try to get on the list. Ive got one of their G19 frames on order.
  5. I picked up my new 9mm Tac Ultra FS HC model 51679, this is the double stack with full rail and mag well, on Thursday. I'm very pleased with the pistol, it has the new ramped barrel, slide to frame fit is excellent, as is the barrel lock up. The trigger was much better than I was expecting based on others reviews, some creep no over travel and fairly light, around 4#s. . For mags I tried using Mecgar Para mags with the Dawson 140mm base plates and Dawson modified Arredondo inserts. These dd not allow me to get more than 16 rounds in the magazine. I also tried the same set up with Arredondo springs and followers, that allowed me to get 20 rounds in the magazine, however they do not lock the slide back after the last round like the factory mag. I'd really like the slide to lock back when empty and still get 20 rounds in a 140mm magazine. I may order an STI mag to see if that will do the trick, unless someone else has a better suggestion? I made a few minor modifications before firing, the extractor had to much tennson on it so I adjusted that as well as radiused the extractor hook slightly. The breech face and feed ramp were both fairly rough so I polished them both lightly. Then I took it out and shot it today. Accuracy was outstanding, as good as any other 1911 I have owned, including SIg, S&W, Kimbers and Springfields. It was 100% reliable for the 100 rounds of WWB I put through it. However ejection was a bit week with most brass landing within 2-4' of me. It may well be over sprung, or just need some more rounds for break in. I'll likely order a few diferent springs to try out and possibly a new extractor, just because I like having spares. The factory magazine that came with my gun had a plastic base pad, not metal as others have posted. Perhaps that is the base pad advanced tactical is selling? It looks like the new ones at least are plastic.
  6. Thanks for the info. Time to order some mags. USMC1049, I may give those a try if the paras don't work well in my gun. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Hump, I'm ordering the pistol today. Will I need to order new springs, followers and Arredondo spacers as well?
  8. What magazines work for the 9mm with magwell? STI 126mm or 140mm? or paras with a Dawson base pad? I've read the whole thread, but I am still not sure.
  9. Does anyone run a magwell on thier Glock 17/22/34/35in ESP? If so wich magwell and what base pads do you use? Did you have to do any mods to get everything to fit in the box? I'm building an ESP gun for my wife and would like to put a magwell on it for her.
  10. Has anyone tried the Cylinder and SLide amib mag release for Glock? I am getting a G34 for my wife and she is a lefty. She has a very hard time manipulating the mag release with her trigger or midle finger. I was wondering if any lefties had tried this and what they think of it. Also will a glock fit in the IDPA/IPSC box with this part attachedBeing that its a C&S part I assume it is of high quality. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to where I saw the part: Cylinder and Slide
  11. I've got a Tru Glow TFO front with factory rear blacked out on my G34 that I'm really happy with. Best of both worlds. I don't care for 3 dot configurations though kinda clutters the sight picture for me.
  12. I like the fact the every match I've shot has a stage I haven't seen before or requires me to do something I have never done before while shooting. I like being able to take a $500 gun and be just as competitive as anyone else there. I like using cover when I shoot matches.
