  1. I’ve been running an 11.5lb CGW hammer spring for a while with no issues on factory ammo. Also run the extended firing pin and soft spring. I’ve recently had some light primer strikes with some cheaper ammo including Tula and remanufactured ammo, but no issues with what I normally run, Blazer Brass. This weekend I had a couple of light strikes with Blazer. My first guess is that I should change out the hammer spring as I’ve probably hit the end of it’s life span. What is the general life span of that spring?
  2. Not sure this applies very well to USPSA, but anyway... I shot a modified LEO qualifying course to be certified as a SRO at a range. You have to qualify with the firearm you plan to carry so, I took both the Shadow 2 and the Glock 17. I actually shot slightly better with the Glock. Everything was timed but it wasn't difficult to shoot under the limit. There were a few mag changes and distances from 3 to 25 yards. In reality, the speed required on this course of fire was moderate. I'll be carrying the Glock on the range as it is considerably lighter.
  3. My guess is that the S2 is too muzzle heavy in comparison to the Glock. No big deal during dry fire or slow fire on paper, but under the stress of the timer, maybe I rush the 25 yard shots. Just seemed that the Glock was back on quicker at distance. Again, not that it really mattered. The trigger of the S2 is so much better that it negates any advantage that I may have "seemed" from the Glock.
  4. I had the opportunity today to shoot free reign on a range set up for USPSA practice. Several bays with steel and a few others set up with paper/steel and activators/swingers, etc... After I had shot all I wanted with my CO Shadow 2, I decided to give my CO Glock 17 some practice time. In every way, the S2 was better and more consistent, but, in fairness, I rarely shoot the Glock. But the one observation I made was that on longer distance targets, where you slow down and focus, it was easier to get the dot to settle on the lighter Glock. That being said, I wasn't necessarily more accurate with the Glock at distance, as the SA on the CZ is way better than the stock Glock trigger. But, purely in terms of getting steady to take the shot, the lighter Glock "seemed" better.
  5. Have just enough of my current match ammo to make it through the next major match. And I'm taking extra boxes of Syntech in case I miss a lot on steel, have to do reshoots, etc... Do you submit both for chrono?
  6. Shot Area 6 on Friday and I WON..... a door prize! A 250 round box of Universal .40 match ammo. I had a great time and had a great squad to shoot with. The Super Squad was right behind us so I was able to demonstrate to them how to shoot a stage a few times. I'm sure they appreciated it.
  7. Shot one major previously. On one of the stages, I gave ammo from a mag that I had shot with and it was put in a sealed bag by the RO. I then went to a chrono stage where the ammo was tested. However, for an upcoming major match, an email mentioned a declare match ammo form and noted that you go to a tent if you need to declare match ammo. Not sure what this means. Can someone explain this process. I'm signed up in a squad that begins at 7:30 am. If I arrive at 6 or 6:30 am to walk the stages, it will be too dark to see anything. I'm guessing the only option is to arrive the day beforehand if I want to do a walk through. Is that the normal way to go about it?
  8. In the last month, I've been in conversation with or overheard at least 4 shooters at matches say they never clean their guns. One did say that maybe once a year when changing springs the gun will get cleaned. Two of the shooters have Sig P320 Legions, one shoots CZ's, and the other shoots a Glock and a Tanfo. I used to clean every gun after every range session or match. Now, I clean my CZ after 3-4 matches, or approximately 500 rounds. But, I'm beginning to wonder if that is overcleaning. For the typical production type guns, how often do competitors here clean? Or do you just add lube occasionally and go shoot? If you shoot a Limited or Open gun, do you clean your mags more often that the pistol?
  9. Sig makes a 365 fmj 115 grain with a published velocity of 1050. I would assume this is out of the 3.1 inch 365 barrel. What type of velocity would likely be produced from a 4 inch or 5 inch barrel?
  10. Pick your SHTF scenario and you can only grab one firearm. Would you rather grab your hi cap competition firearm that you shoot every weekend with, practice live fire with, and dry fire with all on a regular basis... or a self defense pistol, rifle, shotgun etc... that you are familiar with, but don't put in the same amount of time that you do with your competition firearm?

    S2 trigger issue

Quick trip to the range this morning. Ran about 75 rounds with no issue, including some mag dumps and double taps. If there's a difference in the feel of the trigger, I'm not able to feel it.

    S2 trigger issue

Just removed the screw. I should have tested the overtravel before removing but didn't really think about it. Again, it was fine in dry fire. After I removed the screw, I don't think I could tell any difference in the feel. After removing, I did block the back of the trigger with my index finger and then pull to break and then watched the overtravel. It's not much at all, so I'm not sure I would have even noticed if it had less overtravel previously.

    S2 trigger issue

I think you just answered the question that I have... If the overtravel screw is working itself out, and that is causing the issue, why does removing it alleviate the issue. Question 2: Will the trigger feel different once it is removed?

    OK, I'll start there.

    S2 trigger issue

Just wondering out loud... when the hammer/main spring gets weak from many rounds of live fire and numerous dry fire pulls, what happens?

    S2 trigger issue

Parts = Recoil spring, hammer spring, extended firing pin. No work, springs or polishing done to the actual trigger components.

    S2 trigger issue

It was colder on Saturday at the match when I had no issues. It was slightly warmer on Sunday at the practice session when the problems occurred. I have not done any adjustments to the overtravel screw. It is as it came from the factory.

    S2 trigger issue

That was sort of my initial thought when it didn't fire, until I realized the hammer hadn't actually dropped. If the hammer had dropped and not ignited the primer, then the S2 would have returned to double action.

    S2 trigger issue

No, had three boxes laying around and thought it would be good for the practice session. What would the plunk test reveal for the trigger issue? I thought the plunk test was more about ejection.

    S2 trigger issue

On Saturday, I shot a match with my Shadow 2. No issues running 147 remanufactured ammo. On Sunday, I did a practice session and ran a couple of drills and ran a stage four times with Wolf 115 steel cased. At the end of my second run, I pulled the trigger and felt the action, but the hammer didn't drop. So, I pulled again and it fell. I asked the RO if he knew what happened and he thought I had trigger freeze, but wasn't sure. When I explained what happened, he said I probably didn't go all the way to reset. The next two stages this happened 2-3 times on each run, but I just pulled again and it fired. I can't recreate it in dry fire as the single action is pretty light and drops the hammer every time. If I don't allow it to go to reset, there's just no resistance on the trigger which is noticeable. I definitely felt the trigger pull, but the hammer didn't fall. I'm running a CGW 11.5lb hammer/main spring and a 13lb recoil spring. Any ideas?

    X5 Legion

Yeah, that seems to be exactly what he referenced. He said it only cost $25. https://www.glockstore.com/Competition-Spring-Kit-for-Sig-P320s

    S2 no decocker

There's no way to know if he shot previous stages at this match in half cocked. And he moved it to full lowered before shooting after it was noticed. Based on his reaction and statement, I'm guessing he's been shooting it in half cocked since he got it and it was never noticed. Instead of manually lowering the hammer all the way, he had been manually lowering it to a decocked position. Probably ran a decocker model prior to the Shadow 2.

    X5 Legion

It wasn't a Gray Guns trigger as I asked him. If I'm not mistaken, he said it was the same set-up that Max Michelle uses and referenced a very affordable kit.

    S2 no decocker

Local match and shooter has a Shadow 2 that he's been shooting for a good while now. RO also shoots a Shadow 2 and they're friends and have squadded together many times. At make ready, they have a conversation. Shooter says, "this gun doesn't have a decocker". RO says you have to drop it all the way down. Shooter thought that you move the hammer to half-cock in the same manner as a decocker pistol. After being assured it had to be all the way down, he adjusted and shot the stage. However, he seemed genuinely surprised. Here's the thing. He's been shooting this gun for at least a year, maybe much longer. And apparently he's been dropping it to half-cock and thought that was correct. And no RO's noticed it until recently.
