  1. And a follow up to this post... Since the 115 and 135 loads have basically the same 130ish PF, I'm guessing the 135 should have the least amount of felt recoil?
  2. OK, but is it ok to assume that the 147 may have still have less "felt" recoil than the 115 or 135 loads?
  3. This rule is specific to loaded firearms. How about at the end of a stage at hammer down and holster. Does 10.5.2 apply?
  4. If a shooter misses the bucket of the holster and the top of the pistol slides down the back of the holster, is the gun considered to be pointed up range?
  5. Three types of factory ammo: 115 grain, 1145 velocity, PF of 131 135 grain, 970 velocity, PF of 130 147 grain, 920 velocity, PF of 135 Given this info, which should have the lightest recoil? I currently shoot the 115 grain, but will probably try out the others.
  6. Dragging up an old thread/post. So, how has the Vector held up? Looks like a cheap SRO knockoff. I've recently watched a few videos and it looks ok. But not info from a competitor with high round counts.
  7. I actually liked the additions the one guy did to his Shadow 2. No, a magwell, extended safety and thumb rest won't make him or me a better shooter. Shooting cocked and locked and dropping the safety on the draw is something I've never done. All in all, it would be something different to try out.
  8. I've seen a couple of guys run their CO gun in LO. Both were Shadow 2's. One guy added an extended safety, *thumb rest [generic]*, heavy magwell and is starting cocked and locked. The other didn't change anything on his S2 and is starting in DA. He has a 2011 on the way though.
  9. Update: I bought my Speedcross 5 shoes in July of 2021. I mainly wore them at matches and they've made it almost 2 years. I would say I average 3 matches per month. The exterior of the shoes are in good shape and the interior of the shoes are in very good shape. But the lugs on the soles have worn down to the point that they aren't worth using any longer. Probably should have retired them a couple of months ago.
  10. I was able to demo this model this weekend. I was just standing still shooting at targets and steel from maybe 12 yards. Shot it fast and hit A zone and steel every time. I have little to no experience with 1911 and 2011 platforms and felt like the pistol was made for me.
  11. That’s really sludged up. Worst I’ve ever seen. Can’t see how that amount of buildup doesn’t slow down the slide action.
  12. OP here. Glad to know at least someone else has even thought about this! And had some consideration of this idea.
  13. If a current model on the Production list is discontinued by the manufacturer, is it grandfathered for continued use in USPSA?

Decided to go all in with the Glock 17 this year in CO and have purchased a second Gen 5 17 as a back up. Will get it milled soon.

Do you polish internals before adding the - connector? Or just shoot it to fire fit?

Anyone prefer the feel of the 17 over other models? I’ve had a chance to shoot and run on the timer various Glocks of late and I like the balance of the 17 over the 34. And I prefer the grip feel of the 17 over the 19. All had their pluses and minuses in terms of triggers, red dots and/or irons. But just picking them up (all Gen 5’s), I preferred the feel of the 17 best.
  17. I’m looking for an interpretation based on experience. Any RM’s out there want to chime in? Here’s an article that gives some insight to the rule(s) on the subject. https://nroi.org/rules-insights/when-the-gun-breaks-the-rm-must-be-called/ Here’s the part that’s interesting: Secondly, the RM needs to make sure that the gun change does not give the competitor a competitive advantage. I will tell you that we hardly see competitive advantage when the firearm meets the division requirements.
  18. What if you’re shooting a match with your actual carry gun and it breaks. Then you want to switch to your regular match gun. So, let’s say you’re shooting your 365XL in CO and you have an issue and want to switch. Your “back up” for that match is your normal CO gun, an X5 Legion. The X5 obviously meets division requirements, however, it does present a competitive advantage over the 365XL in terms of capacity and recoil management. Does the X5, in this case, constitute a competitive advantage?
  19. I was expecting to see more 26/27’s since they share grip size and mags. But just one so far. Curious as to what CClass4Life carries as his former CO gun was a carry gun.
  20. For those who compete with a full-size Glock such as a 17, 34/35, etc... what do you choose for carry? 19, 26, 43X or other?
  21. A co-worker recently got a steal of a deal on a new Gen 3 17 for $320. After shooting it, he found the grip way too thick for his liking and the texture too slick. He now plans on a grip reduction, finger groove removal and stippling. He’ll now be in it for more than he would have paid for a Gen 5 at regular cost.
  22. Long drive tonight and I thought of a hypothetical question. Let’s say you started outside the shooting area, and could to run to the fault line to enter the shooting area. Could you leap/jump into the shooting area and fire shots at targets before physically making contact with your feet in the shooting area? Your body would physically be inside the fault lines before making the shots. I can’t think of a a legitimate reason where this could be advantageous, but I didn’t get into figuring out possible scenarios where it might be a good idea. My main question is does some part of the body have to make contact within the shooting area in order to be “inside” the shooting area. Does physical contact have to be established? This is basically the opposite of leaping out of the shooting and firing off a couple before touching the ground outside the shooting area.
  23. Gen 3 grip texture is a bit slick. Mag release is small and has a sharp, pointy edge that bites your thumb. Grip is thicker than a Gen 4 or 5 without back straps. Removal of the fire control unit is a bit more involved than a Gen 5. Doesn’t come with front serrations. Has the old recoil spring design. No MOS option. No “marksman” barrel. No ambi slide lock. My one Gen 3, a LEO trade in G23 runs great with no issues and I regularly carry it. All of the things I mentioned above are not an issue to me except the sharp edged mag release. If I was buying new and had to pick between a new release Gen 3 or a Gen 5, I would pay the extra $50 or so difference and get the Gen 5.
  24. Just saw a clip with Ben Stoeger on low round count live fire practice. He suggested 200 rounds of focused live fire per week with drills along with focused dry fire and maybe 1 match per month. In my area, I can easily find 4-6 matches per month and usually shoot 3 per month. Perhaps fewer matches and more live fire practice and drills would be a better use of time and resources??? And spend more time in dry fire. Anyone use this approach either on purpose, or because you have limited numbers of matches in your area?
  25. Since the three light primer strikes last week, I ran another 100 trouble free rounds in practice this week. And then another 175-200 rounds today in a match. So, maybe a single bad box?
