Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I just took an old piece of bicycle inner tube and slid it over the grips
  2. I emailed LOK last week, they said they expect to have large-frame long Witness grips in 2 months. Figure mid-December.
  3. I did some shooting Sunday with Underwood 10mm ammo at 10 yards. Clockwise from upper left, 20 rds each: Upper Left: 200gr XTPs at 1250fps Upper Right: 165gr XTPs at 1400fps Lower Right: 155gr XTPs at 1500fps Lower Left: 180gr FMJ at 1250fps middle is just me farting around with a USP 40 using 155gr Federal JHPs This pistol REALLY likes the 200gr XTP, which is good because that's my carry ammo.
  4. slightly off topic: I assume this EAA .45ACP upper will fit onto this frame? https://eaacorp.com/gun_accessories/index.php/parts/tanfoglio/witness/conversion-kit/standard-conversion-kit/45acp-conversion-kit-standard-blue-300030.html
  5. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it works out.
  6. Is there somewhere to buy a cone-fit .45ACP barrel to fit this pistol? I would love to have one of these set up for 45Super.
  7. I cannot see any reason why it wouldn't be able to handle Underwood 220gr -- as long as it has that 20lbs. spring and Hennings guide rod as you mentioned. I was very surprised how light the stock recoil spring was.
  8. I'm pretty sure all of the EAA Witnesses in all calibers are Tanfoglio large frame.
  9. It almost makes me wonder if Tanfoglio had a bunch of excess railed frames and/or bull-barrels/slides they couldn't sell, said "how do we get rid of these," and someone in Marketing said "I know! Put the bull-barreled uppers onto these frames, and call it the Pro!"
  10. I used the 3.8" guide rod from Henning Group and their 20lbs. recoil spring. Got mags at CDNN.
  11. Shot 100 rds through it, ran flawlessly with Hennings improved guide rod and a 20lbs. recoil spring. Target below is 10 yards standing two-handed. Center target and lower-right target were 180gr Underwood Ammo. Upper and lower-left targets were 180gr Sellier & Bellot. Recoil was on par with a 9mm Glock or a 1911 in 45, even with the hot Underwood (1250fps) ammo. The recoil spring and the weight of the pistol help tame it dramatically.
  12. I ordered and received the Witness Pro. Although EAA said it's a Stock II upper, it's actually a Stock I upper. Cone barrel with polygonal rifling, full-length guide rod, Stock I sight. Build quality is excellent. The internal trigger parts are covered in a slick polycoat that is not very slick. The trigger isn't bad, but it isn't good either. Gonna require some work. So I've disassembled all the lower parts to polish them and to put in some lighter springs: TRS, sear, hammer, and trigger plunger. I'll give a range report this weekend. the shiny on the rails is from me doing some initial lapping of the slide/frame fit with Flitz.
