  1. I'm with you. I shoot a sectional match where they give you cold, hard cash if you win or place well in your division. It can vary from being about equal to the entry fee up to ~$200 depending on the number of competitors in your division. It's great! You basically get a free match if you win.
  2. Clearly the fine gentleman was doing his best to keep you from getting killed in da streetz. You can't dry fire before a gunfight 'cause you never know when you're going to be in one! That's why I duct tape a loofah to my Glock and take it into the shower with me. The forces of evil won't be catching me unprepared!
  3. I think displaying the combined overall on Practiscore has also contributed a lot to the growth of CO and PCC. If you can't win a Production match to save your life, just stick a dot on your gun, throw in some 140mm mages, and shoot CO. Sure, you ain't gonna win CO either, but at least you'll feel better about yourself when you're having your wicked way with the lo-cap guys in the combined overall.
  4. Sorry, I didn't mean that the primers looked loose in the casings. I meant do the edges of the CCI primers look rounded when compared to the Federal primers if you just take two primers out of the boxes they came in and directly compare them? The primers shown below are CCI. See how the edges look rounded?
  5. I think CCI just makes the rims of their primers more rounded, so the Federal one looks larger and flatter. Is that how the loose primers look when they aren't pushed into casings?
  6. A friend of mine was using my case gauge to check his ammo (he's OCD like that) while we were at Area 1 last weekend when he found the .380 case. I have no idea if he contacted you guys, but I'll be sure to mention to him that you're looking for more info about it. To my knowledge, this is the first and only time he has seen this happen in the several thousand rounds he's bought from you guys. No other ammo issues throughout the entire match.
  7. Yes, it was PD ammo, but I'm definitely not bad-mouthing the brand. Are you affiliated with them? I love their bullets and have had nothing but good results with them. It just made me a little wary about reman ammo in general. Really easy to check match ammo with one of those hundo case gauges, though.
  8. I would definitely have agreed with you were it not for the fact that I came across the previously mentioned .380 case just last weekend. Maybe remanufactured .40 isn't susceptible to the same problem since 10mm cases are longer than .40 whereas .380 cases are shorter than 9mm... But I'd still check it if you're shooting it in a match. Not saying don't shoot it (it works great and it's reasonably priced), just saying check it first.
  9. Couldn't figure out why your velocity was so blazing fast until I noticed it was a PCC. Federal is supposed to be softer, right? Looks like you have a deeper indentation in the Federal primer, so that checks out. I ran that exact same load (well, 4.0 gr instead of 3.8 gr) through a Shadow. Worked great. Is there something wrong in the picture that I'm not noticing?
  10. Nobody makes better value FMJ or JHP bullets than Precision Delta. Their remanufactured stuff also runs great, but it's loaded from mixed brass, which means you will need to case gauge or screen it somehow in order to make sure it doesn't have 10mm cases mixed in. Really easy to find and pull out, but they obviously won't chamber if they somehow make it into one of your mags. Buddy of mine had a .380 casing pop up in a batch of remanufactured 9mm ammo he bought.
  11. I want to be just like you when I grow up, Christian. Great matches! Who else shot both Area 1 and 7? I think Jacob Hetherington posted something about that.

I really don't think it makes any difference at all with minor PF loads. From the sound of things they don't break very quickly and if you don't use them the frame will be fine. Maybe they are trying to protect the slide stop? But that doesn't make any sense since the barrel lug contacts the slide stop before the slide contacts the frame. I would just try it with and without to see if you notice a difference in the recoil impulse.

The pad is supposed to minimize battering of the frame by the slide when using a light recoil spring. I personally don't use them and haven't noticed any frame battering. Dave at Cajun Gun Works recommends against using them, too, since they eventually break and go flying around inside your gun. Have you tried shooting the gun with one in it? I would imagine the recoil would feel strange.
  14. MikeBurgess is dropping some pretty great knowledge bombs. I do almost exactly what he describes. Inside 5 yards, I just index on targets; past that distance (when you have to actually call shots), I usually see my sights in "instant replay" on wide open targets, if that makes sense. I break two shots as soon as the fiber is on target and then watch what the sights do during recoil; the sights are moving the entire time. This works well 95% of the time. For the other 5% (if I didn't see the fiber on one shot or if it was in the wrong place on the target), I will throw in a makeup just in case. Don't do this on difficult partials or really long shots, though. For hard targets, you should be consciously triggering both shots most of the time (fire, let the gun return, immediately fire again, call each shot as it's made, shoot makeups as necessary).
  15. Good to know! I'll check the frame where it impacts for peening.
  16. Foam plugs are the best. I can't hear a thing when they're in. They also make it easier to shoot prone stages since I tend to roll toward my strong side which can knock off overear muffs. Gotta be careful throwing around those Celsius numbers. They might not let you vote in this year's election!
  17. I've heard a lot of people talk about frame battering. Which part if the frame gets beat up? On CZs it seems like most of the impact is on the slide stop, so they tend to break every 10k rounds or so, but they're cheap and easy to replace.
  18. Oh, sorry... I shoot Production and I keep forgetting that most of the rest of the world does not.
  19. Also make sure to lube the sides of the trigger bar. As the gun gets dirty, you can have problems with it not resetting if you're using a reduced power TRS because the trigger bar is dragging on the sides of the frame.
  20. Those Glocks that are shipped with CA-compliant 10-round mags also come with a stick that you can use you to keep all the women at bay if you decide to shoot the gun in Production!
  21. Awesome! I kept seeing posts where people say that the Range Officer was fit better and had a better barrel. Based on what I'm hearing from you guys, it sounds like that isn't the case.
  22. I shoot for a 3:1 ratio of As to Cs or better. That equates to 90% of available points if you're shooting minor. Shooting major, 1:1 equates to the same percentage.
  23. Catching the ejected round definitely seems to be more of a USPSA thing. I have never done a "FlipN'Catch" in an IDPA match without the SO losing his mind. "Pump the brakes there, buckaroo! I don't know how they unload and show clear where you come from, but 'round these parts decent folk EJECT THAT ROUND ONTO THE GROUND!!!" Maybe IDPA SOs see the "FlipN'Catch" as a sign of loose living and moral degradation and they are trying to steer us all back onto the straight and narrow.
  24. Wow... Production and Single Stack are right on top of one another. I would have thought that Production would be a bit further to the right just because the talent pool is usually a bit deeper in Production. I'm also really surprised that CO does as well as the plot shows given the minor scoring. I love that kind of data!
