  1. Yeah, it seems like you can easily offset the extra reload since you can be a lot more aggressive when shooting major.
  2. Obviously either one is worse than shooting a .40 gun with 21 rounds, but I'm interested in whether people think you would gain more of a benefit from Major PF scoring or from having an extra 7 rounds. Kind of like a more extreme version of Single Stack major vs. minor.
  3. I'm a GM in Production and M in CO (actually have a M classifer percentage, didn't just classify one lower than my best division), so I'm pretty decent with both irons and a dot. On long shots or hard shots, my shot calling is much more precise with a dot and the transitions are faster and easier. However, for fast shooting up close I find shooting with irons much easier since since the dot turns into a streak when shooting sub .25 splits due to persistence of vision. This streaking makes it more challenging to call exactly where the dot was on the target when the gun went off, meaning shooting close partials is a bit slower. I think I remember JJ saying something like this after he won Limited Nationals in 2019 with an almost identical score to Max in CO.
  4. Where were you placed at the end of day 2? I was shooting Production, so I didn't really see the CO scores. Were you shooting the same schedule as the super squad?
  5. I would be all over that if such a thing existed. Seems like this sport would work really well for that.
  6. Are you referring to the year before you made Max Michel sweat like a whore in church because he thought you were coming to take the crown? If you beat him next year, I'm bumping you to the top.
  7. The subjectivity is what makes it fun. You could just sum the percentages for all shooters from their best two nationals in the relevant years, but that still wouldn't be completely objective since placement and match points are dependent on which top talent showed up for a given nationals and that varies from year to year.
  8. I factored in each shooters attractiveness index on the universal 1-10 scale before compiling the results. However, I heard Stoeger may have gotten a haircut, so that could cause him to drop a few places the next time the rankings get updated.
  9. And that would totally work since the same shooters show up every single year and always shoot the exact same divisions. Man... why didn't I think of that?
  10. Since there isn't really any ranking system for USPSA (aside from the Top 20 classifier averages, which are kinda meaningless), I thought it would be fun to put together a top 10 list for the more popular divisions based on recent nationals performances over the past few years. All of these lists were painstakingly compiled from data derived via the highly scientific methods of skimming through nationals results and pulling numbers out of my butt. These rankings are extremely subjective and solely based on my own opinions, so I encourage you to post your own lists below if you disagree with any of the orders or feel that I left anyone out, but try to stick to the following guidelines: 1.) Post an entire top 10 list for the divisions you care about, not just general comments about how I'm crazy for not placing a certain shooter higher/lower on the list. 2.) All shooters included in each division need to have shot at least two national championships in that division in 2018, 2019, or 2020. 3.) These aren't meant to be "Greatest of All Time" lists. Rankings should be based on USPSA nationals or area match performances in 2018, 2019, or 2020 (not IPSC matches). 4.) Feel free to include foreign competitors, but guidelines 2 and 3 still apply. 5.) Don't trash me, any competitors you are referencing, or anyone else with whom you disagree. It would be fun if we could keep this thread going for awhile and not have it get locked. Here are my picks for top 10 in each division. I left out L10 because it doesn't have a dedicated following at the national level the way the other divisions do and I only have 7 entries in the PCC list since it was challenging to find 10 top competitors who showed up consistently for PCC nationals in 2018, 2019, and 2020 (a lot of the talent is made up of 3-gunners who decided to slum it in USPSA one time since there were no good multi-gun matches to shoot). Also, Carry Optics was really hard to rank past the top 5 since it's a relatively new division that hasn't had very many pro shooters settle into it yet. Take a look and then start posting your own rankings! PRODUCTION 1.) Ben Stoeger 2.) Jacob Hetherington 3.) Mason Lane 4.) JJ Racaza 5.) Nils Jonasson 6.) Sal Luna 7.) Casey Reed 8.) 11. I used to play a lot of pool before I got into USPSA. The cost of entry isn't that high (you can get a decent cue and gear for a couple hundred bucks), there are pool halls everywhere, the tournament scene is pretty widespread, it's easy to get into recreationally if you get your own table or find a bar nearby that has a decent table, and (most importantly) you get to feel like Paul Newman. It's incredibly deep, you can sink a massive amount of time into it, and there are tons of learning resources online if you like figuring things out yourself instead of taking lessons. Sounds like it would fit the bill pretty well.
  12. Are you getting the light strikes on the double action pull, the single action pull, or both? Also, how old is your firing pin spring? The lightened Cajun springs are pretty thin, so I've found they wear out pretty quickly. One other option is that you can throw a CGW reach reduction kit in there with a 13 lb spring. It shortens up the double action throw a fair bit, so you can run a heavier mainspring without it feeling heavy. This might be a happy compromise.
  13. I'm trying to mount a Romeo 1 to a SP-01 Shadow with the RDS plate cut from CZ Custom and I was wondering if anybody could share the torque specs they used when mounting the dot to the aluminum adapter plate. Thanks!
  14. For anyone who is confused by the lack of context given by the OP, I present the following (locked) thread for your reading pleasure: It starts to get really good on page 2. Enjoy!
  15. Primary Machine's nitride coating came out really nice on a SP-01 slide I had milled. They also precisely size the cut-out in the slide to the dimensions of your RDS (you have to send the optic you want mounted with the slide so they can measure the exact length) which is supposed to help with dot longevity if you don't have any recoil bosses on the mounting surface. Only downside is that turn-around time on the nitride is kinda slow (6 weeks or so) since they use an external vendor. If you aren't too attached to nitride, I also picked up a SP-01 Shadow with the RDS plate cut from CZ Custom. The only do bluing and parkerizing, but being able to swap out a $35 plate to change optics is convenient. Since you will have to use an adapter plate to mount a SRO to a SP-01 anyway due to the width of the optic, this might be a good option if you think there's a chance you might want to switch to a different dot someday.
  16. Anybody running the RTS2 version 5 in Carry Optics? How do the newer models hold up when slide mounted?
  17. Ordered 3 cases of 125s on July 30 and the guy I was in contact with was pretty responsive. Told me that the order was supposed to ship out over a week ago, but haven't heard anything since then or received a tracking number and now they aren't responding to my emails. Creeping up on 10 weeks now. Gallant always seems like they don't quite have their act together. I have had times in the past when they haven't shipped a delayed order until I called about it (kind of like they were overwhelmed and were prioritizing anyone who was complaining about delays). Seems kind of odd.
  18. You have a favorite out of the different dots you've tested?
  19. Yeah, that really is the impression I'm starting to get.
  20. Just picked up a CO gun and I'm shopping around for a dot to throw on it. The price on the Romeo 1 looks pretty great, but I keep hearing people say that the vertical zero can drift pretty badly. Anybody experienced this with a Romeo 1? Approximate round counts on your dots would be much appreciated. It also seems like Sig tried to iron out the vertical drift kinks with the "TruHold" zeroing system that they added to the Romeo 1 Pro. If you have both, how does the Pro compare to the original in terms of reliability? Thanks!
  21. You have any idea how many rounds you've put through the gun with that dot?
  22. Is anybody running a dot on a SP-01 Shadow with a CZ Custom RDS baseplate cut? If so, how do you like it and what kind of optic lifespan did you get? Any idea how the dot longevity compares to direct mounting? I have heard people say that mounting to an adapter plate on the slide of a metal frame gun is more likely to beat up a dot because the attachment isn't as solid as direct mounting, but I'd be interested to hear from someone who has run this particular setup if that is actually true.

    Shadow 2 vs. SP-01

If you care about the reset, they also sell a short reset kit that will get you really close to the reset on the S2 without removing the FPB safety.
