  1. Local production GM switched from a stock gen 3 17s with over 250k rounds on it to a CZ Shadow 2 this past season. I talked to him a bit about why and he said the added weight seemed to help on longer shots he would see as well as less muzzle flip and faster follow up shots. He used this season as a trial period but I asked if he was switching back to Glock after this season and he said he's staying with CZ. He did shoot my 34 with the Timney trigger and said it was amazing but he just wanted some added weight more than anything.
  2. The putty does not turn hard but you'd need a way to keep it but that could be just one of the cheap plastic plugs.
  3. Discord reloading is great and helped me a ton last year but prices on everything are up a lot. I'm finding better deals locally since the 1k limit most places have of primers make it hard to stomach the shipping and hazmat costs.
  4. I keep looking at new guns but I have a hard time leaving my 34.5, especially after throwing in That Timney trigger. I have a couple minor changes I'm making to it in the off season but I'm not competing serious enough to have the gun hold me back at this point and I'll just run what I have and what I know.

    Gen 5 G34 Mags

I've been running Dawson's for quite a few years but just picked up some brass TFs to try out to add a little more weight.
  6. I had called and emailed last year ahead of the Apex 10 launch and never got a response, ever. Since then I found a 1050 and went that route instead and figured maybe I'll try again when it comes time to automate or buy a new press.
  7. I cut my inner belt to be about 2 in short and it works great that way.
  8. I installed my trigger in March when it came out and cleaned it about a month ago when the season ended. Shot probably 4k or a lite more before cleaning and I didn't have any issues.
  9. I'm just looking at the brass ones for added weight, I love my Dawson's and don't mind 22 vs 23 as it rarely makes a difference.
  10. Were you able to get the brass TFs to ever work? I was looking at picking up a couple to try, I already have some Dawson's.
  11. I've had the gen 5 one since release and it's been great. Converted a lot of people to them as well from other triggers as it really is a completely different trigger. I tuned my stock dot connect just slightly and have a nice crisp break at 3 lbs
  12. Once you have sound fundamentals, I think you need to shoot as fast as you can see at a match. Steve Anderson talks about this a lot with his match mode. Then in training you focus on speed OR accuracy, but not both at the same time. Pushing speed lowers accuracy and vice versa so you need to identify what you are trying to do and have realistic expectations. I've added a A/S/M column to my training log to identify that while training to better measure results. Then when you get to a match you shoot as fast as you can see. Each target will have to have increased focus based on increased difficulty but I don't actively tell myself to be faster or more accurate.
  13. It's crisp, which I care about more than pull weight. But on my completely stock 34.5 my pull measured about 3 lbs with dot connector. I'm planning on building a backup gun at some point in the next year and it'll get the Timney trigger as well.
  14. Ive had the gen 5 trigger in my 34.5 since it came out. Took me 10 min to install and has worked fine ever since. Even if I had to spend some time getting it to work, the trigger is on a whole new level and in my mind what will likely keep me from moving on to a shadow 2.
  15. Timney trigger, sights of choice, mag extensions of choice. If you want you can add a tungsten guide rod and look to pack the grip cavity with tungsten weights as well. It'll likely add 4-5 oz which will help some and not be overly heavy to carry.
  16. All I've done to my 34.5 is add the Timney trigger and a tungsten guide rod and it's great. I also added some tungsten weight into the backstrap that added 1.5 oz and plan to pack the grip cavity with tungsten and do a silicon carbide grip job to it.
  17. I'm good for 3-4 years but I do see primers and powder all the time but expect to pay for it. That being said, locally I bought primers from Cabela's like 2 months ago for 65/k and passed on some last week at a LGS for 90/k but now Cabela's is 130/k.... Expect prices to continue to climb before it ever drops.
  18. You can get up to 5-6 oz most likely by using mostly solid shapes as the putty isn't that heavy. I was able to stick 1.5 oz in a large backstrap with tungsten discs and a little putty. Plan to pack the grip cavity full soon. eBay has a lot of options but I bought a bunch of weights from maximum velocity, pinewood derby store. I'm gonna play around with a few different shapes to maximize the weight.
  19. Yep, menu is now visible along with notifications.
  20. The price used to be a lot closer but has grown a bit in the last 2 years or so. I think it's more in the 800 or so range. I'm someone who also runs a 550 and a 1050 and it's perfect for me. I'm finding a lot more crimped 9mm and 223 so it's easy to not have to worry about it. At some point I'll look to add an automated press for processing.
  21. Why not just use the bullets you like and calc PF based on a slightly lower bullet weight? I usually shoot for a PF in the low 130s as Ive tested those loads against a 126 load and I can't tell the difference but it gives me piece of mind.
  22. I watched it but haven't read any of the books and had no thoughts going in. I thought it was good and worth watching. That said we just watched it at home on HBO over the course of a few days.
  23. Are they a reloadable 23 in 9mm? I've got a handful of Dawson's that are very tight loaded to 23
  24. Ok, I was wrong, I went back and looked at my notes for all 3 on a postage scale I used. Stock was 0.6 oz TTI was 1.2oz Jentra was 2.4 oz. So the glockstore is an ounce heavier compared to the jentra. I'm sure a lot of that is due to the additional length but it's also a lot more in cost. I can definitely feel a difference between all 3 and would love to try the glockstore one but I'm not going to spend that kind of money for an ounce. But I will email jentra again and ask them to make a 34 specific one.
  25. I don't remember exact weight but the stock one weighs like nothing. My TTI steel one was like 1.4 oz and jentra around 3. I'm just curious if the 34 length one adds a lot more weight for costing twice as much as my jentra.
