Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Csalt, I've had a hybrid for about 4 months. I have about 4,000 rounds on it and use a mix of MBX and Atlas mags. I've had zero issues with either MBX or the Atlas magazines in the DS-9. I did try a couple of Staccato magazines in it and had some issues with those magazines. The magazines are modified with an MBX follower and spring, so I'm not sure I'm the reason they act up. My Honcho doesn't feed well with the modified Staccato mags either. My Staccato has never had an issue with the modified Staccato mags.
  2. You may have to call PT. i don't think they're on the website right now.
  3. My DS-9 has the aluminum grip on it and I really like it. I far prefer the steel grip on my PT gun. It's a lot more aggressive and I really notice it in the summer, when my hands are sweaty. That said, I hear steel grips are not fun when it's cold. Not much of an issue in Southern Arizona. I haven't shot one of the Masterpiece Arms steel grips yet, but I think I would get the steel if I did it over.
  4. I've had one of the Viridian HS-1's on my PCC for a couple of years now and I believe I've used it once. It was from the weak side and in a hard lean. Unless it's a close shot, it can be difficult to find in bright sunlight and most of the time I don't even think about it begin there. It seems to me that on most stages, it's harder to find the laser quickly than to just bring the optic to eye level and engage.
  5. Thanks all, this is something I've been having trouble with. It really became evident to me at a match last weekend. I have a habit of taping, scoring and resetting right up until I shoot. Then I'll grab a few mags, go over my plan quickly in my head, wait for the timer and watch it all go to s#!t. A couple of the more experienced shooters gave me some of the same advice posted here. I definitely plan to stop resetting, when I get on deck. I'll try to start focusing on the stage and visualize what I need to do. I do try to break it down into shooting positions, but one mistake usually causes a cascade. At least it's entertaining.
  6. I've been using them for a while, in Mutiple 2011's. I've broke 2 of the followers, but they work great for practice and save expensive magazines.
  7. You don't want to do that. The slides are fit to each frame.
  8. Thank you, Sir. I think you described it adequately. I've been looking at the Platypus and wanted to make sure the grip had a little bite to it. I guess you could always add silicon carbide to it,
  9. How aggressive is the texture on the grip?
  10. I've tried a lot of magazines over the years. I settled on Wilson 47's and CMC power mags. I've actually found the power mags to be more tolerant of fine dust, all though I haven't had many issues with the Wilson 47's.
  11. I had mine break a block. I want to say it was at about 5,000 rounds. I was told it was A lack of lube on the block. I do lube the pistol often, but I was shooting in 105+ temps, maybe it wasn't enough? I now make sure I lube it, before every range session. I also started using 5w-20 Mobil 1 for the lube. I don't worry about it in between stages, it's stays wet throughout a match. It doesn't take long for the slide to get too hot to touch, during summer in southern Arizona. I've put another 10,000 on it and I haven't seen any issues so far. I do keep a close eye on it. I do like the Honcho, a lot.
  12. Mine's been great. My biggest issue is keeping the mags clean. I live in the desert and the fine sand/dust will cause failures. My lesson learned from yesterdays match is clean them before you go to a match and if the go in the dirt, they get taken apart and cleaned.
  13. I've got to agree. I purchased one of the Lighting holsters for my Honcho with an X300u light. Fit is fantastic and I've been beating it pretty hard the last 4 months, haven't had a single issue.
  14. I noticed the trigger guard screws and bushing had come out of my Honcho over the weekend. I have the Dawson replacement parts, but it seems like the bushing is too wide when the screws are tightened up. Is it normal for it to float side to side, or should I shorten up the bushing?
