Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. thanks everyone. did not know all this.
  2. any concerns with the time turning on (and or adjusting) the dots or am i behind the tech curve and that's no longer needed?
  3. interestingly i find that the SC is a good gateway into practical/other shooting for beginners, so i get the magazine touching on that. That said ive yet to find a beginner who knows there is a magazine until they are already shooting so i have to question the story selection and target audience.
  4. it is when you beat them!
  5. correct. shooter was grumpy about being called for something he was sure he did not do. extreme example I know but why argue about stuff? not like we have money on the line. all in all though i do this because i have fun and have met some nice people. to me its worth the putz's. cheers all.
  6. outside of some things already mentioned I'd like to see less arguing with the RO/scorekeeper on things. Last few matches ive seen several shooters argue things like the 180 line being crossed, sweeping themselves, arguing hole placement and stuff like that. When 5 people see you do something, dont argue it! Had a shooter break the 180 by at least 15-20 degrees and get huffy and quit the match (not dq'd mind you). another swept himself at the elbow level and wanted to argue it. about once every 4 or 5 matches i have one of those "dud, really?" moments. I dont get it.
  7. i recall there is a indoor match on thursdays in vancouver someplace. ask around.
  8. i wondered about this myself so i did a experiment one day. took 4 of my pistols from G19/B92F/1911 in 45/and CZ75 and ran a round robin simulated match. mixed things up so i would be trying a different pistol each run. I learned 2 thing (YMMV). 1st i shot all of them about the same results-wise. I did not expect that. 2nd i like the feel of the cz75 in my hand the best and thought it gave me the best chance of a decent grip the first time. i use the cz in matches most of the time now. my other takaway is that i was not going to find a perfect choice and suddenly get a bunch better. i guess i relearned thats its the indian and not the arrow. have fun all.
  9. I shoot limited minor fairly often while fully understanding the limits of this. Reasons: i dont care that much about my placement so long as i satisify myself with how i shot. 2nd if i have a friend shooting and like the head to head trash talk match. 3rd i have helped several new shooters get started and find that handing them complexity in bites instead of the firehose they have more fun and since many new shooters are shooting what they have (9mm with 15 rd mags and irons) LM is easier than the production stage planning. for the beginners i think they benefit shooting what they have instead of getting on the internet and buying stuff right off
  10. try it and see. ive done a couple dozen matches with one and seen lots more. never heard of the safety being accidentally activated.
  11. +1 on grip. i switch pistols all the time (shoot everything i have) and the only thing that ive found that matters is that the grip safety forces me into a lower grip so when i switch back to a glock or whatever i can get a better grip or at least what i consider as a better grip. I also change my mag change technique to a pull the mag out and reload not trusting the empty to drop free on its own. normal ymmv and imho cheers
