I have the same gun in 9mm, and 4 new mbx mags all lengths. They insert and drop freely. Actually they have a slight amount of rattle in the grip, which I think is good. Different item, but I was getting a decent scratch by the mag catch on the tube upon insertion. The bottom of the catch had a sharp edge so I filed it a tiny bit.

I don’t know if the springs will interchange. Sorry. But I would bet that is not your issue. With my GT tuning completed, it will run factory or major ammo with 8 to 10 lb springs with no issue. Tuning equals Chamber ream, stroking, extractor, ejector, and well tuned mags solved my fte and ftf. Recoil spring tuning is mainly for feel in my case.

So I put the stock 45 hammer spring back in with the 22 conversion. I think that spring must be about a 24lb. Shot a few mags of the various ammo, cheap bulk, up to mini mag. Everything went bang, no light strikes. I was worried that the hammer might slow the cycle but everything fed. So, confirmed those that said the hammer spring is the answer, at least on mine.

Thank you guys for the info. I have a 45/22 conversion that I finally have time to run the 22. Everything is smoothed and polished and I am still getting the same light strike results as above, with the 14-15 lb hammer spring that I had in for the 45. So, I will try the heaviest spring I have. If that isn't 100% I will try the fp mods as above to increase momentum.

Working staff at matches with super squads, I have seen them working hard to keep their ammo warm throughout the match.

MBX has new mags available. I am using them with my .325 stroked Gold Team and they work. 1.165 oal jhp. They are not consistent when using my old ammo at 1.135 Oal. Pretty soon none of this will matter if we don’t get some primers.

I can't find them anywhere on the internet.
Is here some one nows where i can buy them.
Or is there someone ho nows how to make a tanfolgio big frame magazine work in a Caspian?
I read that this is a option?
Greetings Jan Wit
MBX Extreme here in the states has them now! 3 different lengths. I do not know if he will ship to you. Email from the website to find out. The Caspian / Tanfo mags are the same. Let me say, the MBX ones fit both.

Fwiw I did some testing with 141 155 and 171 gen 2s before they went up on the web site. Using my stroked gold team, multiple bullet hp profiles at 1.165 oal ran 100%. When I put multiple brass buffers in to “de-stroke” the gun, and ran 1.135 oal ammo (like I had to with stock mags) I got nose dives. I am so happy to get away from those k9s and load a length that will hold a gassy powder. Thanks MBX!

What polymer said. And, load the new mags up full and let them set for a few days.

Good discussion. Thanks. I have never tried it, but will soon. But, I can't see anyway.

I took the V12 on my Limited Custom frame to the range today, no sights, but just looking down the barrel I had no problem staying in the center of my paper 2/3 size bowling pin target at 25'. The concussive effect from the comp was very disconcerting to shooters all around me though! Gads, I haven't owned a comped gun since the 80's, I forgot the effect they have on peeps nearby.
Anyway, For the time being I decided to get an EGW Docter/Fastfire/Venom sight mount until I can find a frame mount.
I put a IPSC Alex mount on my Gold Team. Vortex Razor/RTS2/etc fit. Nice set back, low to slide, and very light. Be aware ejection pattern must be low, and clearance so slide does not rub during cycle.

Canbuster I would try your idea of brass shock buffer. I got some and they reduce the stroke about .105 (because you also add the thickness of the shoulder on the guide rod). Shoot a few rounds then pull the slide and look at the buffer. You can see where it is striking the frame/tunnel and file/relieve if necessary. I bet that will insure cycle and prevent possible damage somewhere.

I'm not by any stretch a new shooter, but I am just getting back into USPSA (mostly open and limited) and I'm wondering why so much focus on major 9? Granted a match win or shooter class upgrade in qualifiers can be made with just one point but isn't lower recoil of a lower power minor 9 going to be faster and easier to score more A's?
I saw another thread you may be sporting a new Domina. Get a good gassy load up to 170+ pf and that gun may shoot flatter than minor.

Wow. That slide is stroked. Really I don’t have that model, only a old small frame 9mm and a Gold Team 9mm. My GT slide is stroked .350 and it does NOT go back that far.
-
Rts2 same as Vortex Razor.

gnappi I have a GT 9mm. Using the Tanfo and K9 mags (with spacers) my max oal is 1.140. I got a 38s mag to try so I could load out to 1.165 for powder flexibility. I never did get the 38 mag to run/feed properly and gave up. I don't know why. Now that I have stroked the GT I may give it another shot.

Had the same improvements as you did, plus no nose dives (don't ask me how that works). Note; I clipped a spring during testing and it locked up between the guide rod and the plug! Get the Patriot Defense spring assortment and you will have no bind (at least I didn't with the 8lb.). The ejection direction improved and I was able to put my ipsc Alex mount back on with no more brass strikes. Runs major and minor with no changes.

I especially like the idea of pulling out my v12 and putting in a solid barrel with a better steel comp.

Why not use the existing rib cage slide cuts to put “V” pattern popple holes in the barrel?

So I am looking at building a Tanfoglio 9major open gun out of a limited frame. Came across a deal on a Tanfoglio T97 limited in 45acp. What is the difference between a Tanfoglio EAA Witness Elite Limited 9mm frame and a Tanfoglio EAA T97 Limited Witness .45 acp frame???....... I'm basically looking for a frame to build a gun.
I haven’t actually done it before. With the top end aside, maybe some safety fitting IF a different ejector is required. I can’t think of anything else. Again, I have not been inside a T97 but wanted to see if we can generate some input for you.

I know. Crazy descriptive.
Wait. You mention wanting a limited length, then mention carry optics division, then GT frame which is ok limited but not co. What do you have up your sleeve? Yes, that is a beauty!

I put one in my Gold Team. It went in raw and has been flawless. I did compare the length and verified slightly longer than stock. There is no strike drag or piercing on the primer. No need to mess it up to “improve” it.

Slide definitely travels full length...teehee.
Along the way I think it was you that said using the PD hybrid springs there was no coil bind, without cipping coils. I got some and it worked. Full travel .325 more for me. I likey! Thanks.

My first test of the gun after being modified. This is with minor PF N320 loads I had laying around.
This is also the first live fire test with the base pad prototype.
Ignore my sloppy recoil control, first time shooting in almost 6 months.
Next up load development and testing spring combos.
That brass...perfect. I hope it does that with major. You can use any dot mount you want!

I will give you another option response directly to you post. If you happen across one, the Para Pro Custom 40 fits your bill. I got 2 several years ago. Then they were about 1.100. The platform is there. Then springs, polishing, extended mag release, and MBX mags are all you need.
