Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Ruger's are the true pain to clean. Although I hear once you get used to it, it ain't so bad Hi Standard (the originals made in Connecticut) are wonderfully fun pistols and quite a few had threaded barrel options. Talk about easy to clean! Some also came with their own intergral supressor!
  2. Got three years on mine, right at 1200 rounds on it so far. Runs real nice with CCI Maximags Not even a hiccup, since I refuse to use Remington ammo on it at all. (Dunno what Remmy is doing wrong with their primers, but they suck.) Heck, it even likes ARMSCOR!
  3. Well, I'll make the Totally Twisted suggestion...a Star Megastar 45. Shoots .45-acp or .45-Super without changing anything. Progressive springs make switching ammo rather easy. 12 rd mags or 10-rd California mags available. Downside...no longer in production, Star went out of Biz... but if you can work your way around a Browning Hi Power, ain't nothing on a Star ya can't fix I use S&W 4506 .45-SUPER recoil springs for replacements. Guy on the Spanish Pistols board makes replacement FP's, get 3-4 and you're good for 50 years + It is a BEAST, only thing bigger is a DEAGLE, but that makes it rather soft to shoot, weight soaks recoil so nicely it feels like a 9mm! Of course, you better be a big ole SOB like me to wield it
  4. Hrm...while I'm at it...what's the BEST Firing Pin & Spring available for a 10mm? Might as well set the second slide up properly
  5. Because the info can be Directly related to pistol shooting, ZEN IN THE ART OF ARCHERY by Eugen Herrigel Aiming is Aiming
  6. Back in the Old Days, there was this crazy guy named Paris Theodore... he took S&W 39's and created a little mod-job called the ASP... had an odd little sight called the Guttersnipe... looked like this... Also had clear grips & mag sides so you could quickly see how many rounds you had left... Starred in 11 James Bond 007 novels as well
  7. Pretty much sez it all in the title Just picked up an EAA Witness-P-F 10mm a few days ago, looking forward to finding out a lot more about the pistol and the options thereof. Are there any Florida Panhandle groups?
  8. Thanks! Good to know all that! Young Gun, Old spare slide! Everything but the FP & FP Spring is in the spare slide...those shouldn't be too hard to source. Did do a range visit and shot a box of 50 at 5 meters Wednesday afternoon. Rear sight was moving with recoil, so boresighted & gave it a dot of Blue Loctite when I got home. Does shoot a hair low with a 6 O'clock hold with those tall sights...not unexpected. Did switch the barrel after roughly 25 shots to the Threaded. Shot roughly the same POI at the regular, ignoring the side-to-side from the loose rear sight. Handles recoil about the same as my G20-SF, pleasant to shoot, unlike the 1911-style 10mm's Next time I hit the range there will be a VERSUS contest! So now all I need to find out is what kind of freaky optic mount that is, and why the Catalog Number to the right of the serial isn't easily found...140300... or figure out what that is if it isn't a catalog sku? EAA should be able to tell me the latter tomorrow when I call.
  9. Bought a slightly used Witness from a local shop, No idea about anything else, wasn't an EAA guy, until I bought this Haven't been able to find anything like it on the 'net to figure out exactly what I've got here... Catalog Number inscribed on the gun is 140300, which doesn't seem to exist...searched EAA catalogs back to 2008. Tall tritium sights, not in the normal location on what looks to be a fairly custom slide.. Also an Optic Mount for unknown type optic. Threaded barrel included, along with the Original Slide. Additional OEM slide with threaded barrel also included Given the general uncleanliness with minor holster wear...nearly new bore...LEO previous owner? Basically looks like it was shot a few times & shelved a lot. The shop I bought it from is run by retired cops...so LEO trade-in makes sense...maybe from SWAT?? So I'm looking to find out everything I can about it! What the heck have I got here?? Other than Polymer Fullsize 10mm Witness? Didn't ask a lot of questions at the shop, and won't be near there for awhile... probably should have thought of more then tho
