  1. Again it’s my opinion, yours may vary and that’s okay. I am more comfortable and shoot better with my 929, my unloads and reloads are smoother, I can sight faster and hit better with the longer 6.5” barrel. I also shoot production division and use the same load in my CZ and 929. (I was blessed with .355 chamber throats) That makes my reloading faster and cheaper. I only have the one press and don’t want to change it over to .38 all the time and when I do have to change over I’d rather load .357 627 is a excellent revolver also. If I could only have 1 firearm, it would be on the top of the list.
  2. My opinion is that the 929 is a better gun for competition but the 627 is more versatile due to the wide variety of ammo that can be used in it, from really light .38 cowboy loads to my personal favorite hot .357 loads. Plus you can legally hunt with a .357 revolver. If you’re like me whichever one you buy you’ll probably want the other one later.
  3. My 929 seems to have a narrow cylinder to firing pin gap and it never binds up with a Federal brass and .035 moon clip combo. I started using Federal primers years ago on my Vaquero after installing a light hammer spring and they worked so well in the gun and press I started using them in my 9mm ammo too..... Good thing because all that have been available around here lately are the Federal match sp primers and they have gone up to $65/1000. Wondering ... how are y’all crushing primers?
  4. I was about to order some Bayou 160g’s to try in my 929 after reading recommendations from some older (2015) post. I noticed a lot of folks are using the .358” ones and are saying that a .357” will basically fall through their chamber throats. Tested my newer model with some .355” 135g blue bullets and they need a very slight tap to fall through my chamber throats. I’d have to hammer a .357 to get them through. It shoots nice tight groups with the .355 blues so I’ll probably order that size in the 160’sAll this said because I’m wondering if the larger chamber throats and barrels is typical of older 929’s and if others with a newer 929 is seeing the same thing I am.

Thanks Mine likes .035 moon clips btw
  6. I disagree, You can recover from a squib if noticed.
  7. Similar to Memphis, I found 3.2g of titegroup worked well with the Berry's 147's in my Shadow2. I loaded them at 1.120 for my Shadow 2 but strangely that OAL wouldn't cycle in my Brother in laws Shadow 2 so your results may vary. For titegroup at your OAL I'd recommend trying different charges in the 3.0 to 3.4 range and test. I'm a fairly new re-loader also but of all the ammo I have loaded for my CZ, I like the Bayou and Blue Bullets 135 Grain bullets loaded with 3.5g of titegroup. I like the Blue Bulllets truncated cone 135 bullets best because I can load them all the way to a OAL of 1.160 with no issues. I plan on trying some of the new Bayou 120 Truncated cones soon. Happy Reloading.
  8. 1st shooting competition ever, Left lot’s of room for growth. I borrowed a belt/holster but didn't have enough magazines to shoot production so was placed in limited. Small local match I placed 6th out of 9 among the limited group (14 out of 18 overall) Definitely something I want to do again.
  9. With all that money you saved go get you a nice ghost holster.
