  1. I picked up Witness Match in .40S&W the other day, and was wondering if these can easily be converted to DA/SA. Is it as simple as adding a disco to the hammer? It’s just that my other Tanfos are DA/SA and I want to the same manual of arms. This model also has a rail, and doesn’t quite fit into my Stock I/III holster. Any recommendations on where I can find both OWB & IWB holster for it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks Yondering...the headspace comment makes sense. I’ll just get a .40 to shoot... .40.
  3. Sigh. I was really looking to be talked out of this...damn y’all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Since both have same case head, presumably this is ok? would I need to change recoil spring to get this to work reliably? What about magazines? has anyone tried this?
  5. Sorry for being vague. I put in Patriotdefense 15.5# hammer spring. That’s about as low as I’m willing to go... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just updating the thread... With ONLY a hammer spring (everything else stock), the results are as follows: DA: ~>8lbs ish SA: 4.25# The DA breaks just as I go high scale on the mechanical trigger...but it IS SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than when stock. Both DA/SA are smoother & overalll much better, allowing for trigger break without too much effort. I hope to take it to the range this week and see what she does with CCI primers and update the thread accordingly. For reference, I have two (2) PD tuned Stock IIIs. For those guns, DA:~7.5lbs to 7 7/8lbs; SA; 2.5lbs & 3.5lbs This is by far the best bang for the buck. If I can achieve the same level of reliability, then I’ll never pay to polish a Tanfo or buy any other springs again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yup, Agreed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. You went further than me. Still, results are encouraging. I’ll try it and report back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the estimates dude! DA is Off the charts on my 8lb max trigger gauge & SA = 7lb. If I can loose 4lbs in DA & 1lb in SA, I’m moving forward! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have a completely Stock Tanfoglio Stock I. The gun is uber reliable...CCI primers? Tula magnum? Muahhahahahaha this gun eats it all. The trigger pull tho leaves a lot of be desired. It’s not terrible, but not in same league as my 2 PD tuned Stock IIIs. I’m not in the mood to sit and polish a lot of surfaces...and don’t wanna spend $300 for a smith to do it either. So will changing to a 14lb (or 15.5lb) hammer spring (no other work) allow me to reduce my DA/SA pull significantly? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah, I understand the concept of momentum very well...I really should have looked at the numbers (powder charge, bbl length, and velocities) to settle on a powder and bullet selection. My selection was made on the basis of safety (no double charge), & economy (115gr cheaper)... I didn’t know till I started shooting matches that performance (per 1st paragraph) was just as important as my other criteria. I’ll go practice w reduced charges of HS-6 & 124s I have on hand and report back. Thanks again for all the feedback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I’m just shooting production. I went back and looked more closely at Quickload. Given my barrel length, I can reduce my 115gr load to 6.0gr and 124gr bullet to 5.0gr make minor power factor. i just need to work through about 1,200rds I loaded to factory specs...sigh.
  13. How my Tanfos look like with new grips Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I went out and practiced yesterday. I also brought with me a 6lb recoil spring to test out the recoil impulse and effect on speed and noticed the following: 1. A lighter recoil spring increases felt recoil! I was surprised by that. 2. As a newbie I could feel the change in recoil impulse...more later. 3. The 6lb recoil spring is too light for a Tanfoglio Stock III...it cussed hangups and FTFs. 4. The lower spring tension makes tracking the slide almost effortless...very nice actually! I have ordered 8lb recoil springs per advise here. I’ll update on how it turns out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yabbut, don’t you still need to align the dot? With your dominant eye? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I shoot with both eyes open also. thing is when the sights are aligned and on target, if I close my left eye, the sights are off target. Closing my right eye doesn’t matter or affect the sight alignment. i think per advise this far, I’ll have to keep practicing drawing to my left eye...and maybe turning my head a bit too... Im hoping not too many folks encourage me to try shooting leftie...i’d cry cause holsters are $$$
  17. I am right handed but very strongly left eye dominant. I shoot left handed for rifle shooting (hunting & competing). I was advised to compete RH for pistol shooting since I can bring the sights up to my left eye. I also notice that a lot of my speed issues and inability to call shots are because of my natural tendency to attempt to align sights to my right eye. During practice yesterday I noticed two things help me with sight tracking & shot calling: 1. Turning my head or body 45deg to the right of the target helps me align sights to my left eye. 2. I can exaggerate head position to bring sights up to my left eye. What do y’all think? Continue with some form of the workarounds above or do like rifles shooting and go leftie and overcome the week-hand issues? Thanks again in advance.
  18. So I should buy: Stock III: 8lbs longslide Stock I: 8lbs standard
  19. Thanks guys. What loads & powders should I look into when I deplete my current resources?
  20. I haven’t chronoed that load...However, quickload says ~1200ft/s out of a 4.75” barrel.
  21. Thanks for the responses everyone! i don’t think my load is holding me back, my suckiness is. My load is as follows: 115gr FMJ 6.6gr HS-6 various cases CCI/Fed SPP I bought HS-6 as it would work in all my pistol calibers...9mm, .40S&W & 5.7x28 and give great velocities without possibility of a double charge. On another Tangent, do people shooting Tanfoglio pistols have issues with HP bullets feeding reliably?
  22. Many thanks @MemphisMechanic for breaking it down like that. I wish i’d asked before buying 16lbs of slow powder and a not insignificant amount of 115gr bullets. i’ll switch to a lighter recoil spring and make the most of it... thanks everyone one for the answers.
  23. Help me out here...what’s the advantage of shooting heavy for caliber bullets in 9mm? it seems most prefer 147gr then 124gr bullets why?
