  1. On rules.. personally I’m of the mind uspsa rules are kinda foolish.. minor/major power factor crap is just an excuse for 40 cal to still exist. Idpa I’ve yet to be exposed to, seems like the intent is in the right, but execution is a best guess of what may happen to “ saw this in a movie once” not trying to knock it, just think the “realist” side of it is a bit overblown.. I mean I carry owb cause I don’t want anything hard in my pants that isn’t attached and I never wear a khaki vest. ( zip up hoodies or long t shirts typically) but like most conceal carry holders I know, my firearm is obvious for anyone who actually looks and knows what they’re seeing. ( lot of YouTube vids on idpa) united shooting sports league makes more sense .. but then again I’m of the mind there is never a reason to carry a 45 acp with 8 over anything 9mm with 15.. from what ive seen thus far hanging around on set up and tear down days and watching major players in my area as well as big shot show types. Most who are into shooting knew a guy who knew a guy or still in a circle of friends who are part of it. Rare to see guys like me thus far ( granted I’ve only been around it for a couple years) who are retired mil types or weekend desert shooters who get into shooting sports. People who who are buying higher end “products “ like sti guns etc that I know of would be anyhow. ( I got mine before I sort my first match, made holster for it, and spent time shooting my own little steel set up before I even saw a stage bay) I can’t say I’ll ever buy a limcat. But they are pretty..
  2. Pmed you as well.. im not saying butter up everyone’s butt. i am saying coming cold from the street to try out a match with multiple different organizations, typically on the same day all with different rules cane be a bit more than daunting... even moreso with most vets ( because they’re already jaded to shooting with others ref: tacticool douches who’ve already pissed them off) most who who take up shooting sports do so because they know someone... they continue for the same reason, least from what I observed thus far. Groups of friends squad together, hang out outside of match day Et al .. if you want your friends to come play show them how, explain ,the rules, and let them blast junk targets from last match until they feel comfortable enough to try it timed. I equate it to riding motorcycles, no way in hell am I gonna spend a day showing where the controls are onany bike I own then putting someone on it and riding alongside them on a spare bike and callin it good cause they saw it on tv, heard me rev a bike or work on one.. be like me taking someone on a ride they get back with me whiteknuckled with pants full of s#!t and stare blankly at them while saying “ what’s the problem? You can drive a car Right?” same with shooting sports... unrealistic to expect anyone to just “get it”
  3. This is the point I was just making.. the same thing can be and is often found among the wanna-be warrior guys who wear more s#!t to the range than even long tabs get issued, to a T they are quick to invite actual combat vets out to shoot... then snicker and talk s#!t when a four deployment infantry vet can’t hit s#!t with mr tacticools 3k glock handbag... nevermind the infantry kid has a reoccurring nightmare of all the bodies he’s dropped and has proven skills with an AR... its a huge reason why more military vets aren’t participating in shooting sports, who the hell wants to be a yardstick?. if you want more pals on your playground, show them what the game is, share your toys, and teach them to play nice because you do.. if you want to ensure they won’t come back, bitch about them firing 3 mags of ammo, trash thier stance and effort, and talk s#!t to them about sucking... in the Army, no one gets “torn down and built back up” they get instructed, shown, and encouraged to practice perfect. Because if your leading men up a hill you want them keeping up, not aiming at the back of your head.
  4. As a new guy, first I think a lot of the “ they don’t like actually shooting, they don’t want to loose to x, Et all” responses are well, bulls#!t... set aside your ego a minute and consider it might not actually be fun to others. Or that the picture you paint while may look like fine art to you looks like finger painting to them.... try showing them in another way.. because if your saying that, your conveying it.. it would be much the same where I and combat vets to show up at your match and ask “ why aren’t you fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan? Chickensiht? You a pussy? Got “bad knees?” *snicker* not exactly fair nor kind to toss about s#!t like that right? Take the siht talking out of it, leave the ego at home. And invite them out to shoot with you.. then set up a practice match of sorts so they can see how it really is and not that it’s some yard stick for dick measuring. You actually might get them to come shoot a match then... or take them to a steel match if they shoot steel. i was lucky enough to have a group ( JJ Racaza, Marco, Junior, Steve and RJ at magnus sports in Las Vegas)of guys local to me who saw my lov3 of guns and mil history and invited me to try it out, two years later and helping set up and tears down ranges for a few months I went and shot a steel match. This while building my gear out and picking up specific firearms. I continued to shoot my steel targets in the desert with my wife until I was comfortable and ready to be around a group of strangers with guns and have enough of my stuff squared away with some understanding of what all it entails without wasting my time or that of others.. figure anyone who has firearms has enough interest in them to be able to use them competently and will want to become more proficient at thier use, if they’re refusing to do your thing with you, it’s likely not thier lack of desire to shoot but your ability to present it as something fun and worth giving a go. So.... try another approach... even something as simple as getting ahold of your local match director and seeing if it’s possible to open a stage for new people to try out may be just the thing to give them a moment to enjoy what’s going on and want to invest money/time into getting a rig set up and practicing.
  5. Being new, I don’t get what the issue is.. I just shot my first match last Wednesday after helping set up and take down stages for about 5 weeks. I figured it out rather easily how to pull up limited after the match and see my results vs the same in my division... and I’ve got a PCC... shot limited my first match, likely will continue to shoot limited mostly because PCC at under 25 meters seems kinda boring, I don’t mean that in the “ easy to win” boring but like 3 gun... ie you can use a 5.56 to shoot a paper target 3 meters away and likely will if it makes sense to before grounding it, but that’s a time/ speed call based on the mix of weapons and efficiency of useage.. not picking the easiest recoil and sight picture weapon on a stage designed for revolver.. to me, being new and all PCC is about time and not so much targeting relative to other pistol cal divisions.. ie accuracy is greatly increased by virtue of a 16” barrel and tuned optic.. so the heart of the competition is clock moreso than target...at least to my new eyes.. what i I do see as a benefit of PCC is who it brings to the game... personally I’d be doing this solo had my wife not stolen my sub 2000 from my safe for our range Sunday’s two years ago ( she’s currently using my Nordic PCC until her sig mpx arrives). At right at 5 foot she isn’t exactly built for marathon running so her comfort with PCC got her to come to and shoot the match with me, and likely will be the source of many of my friends coming to try it out as well because it’s easier to be familiar with ( especially if your military or retired mil) and objectively safer to use vs drawing and firing... I think from that intro weapon some will go onto other divisions as thier comfort allows just as some will push harder to get better at it and tear up baby jogger strollers to make matches easier to navigate with all thier gear;)
  6. Also moving March April time states away. Makes complication not knowing where I’ll be when they land on us soil.
  7. Sadly I can’t find any at even MSRP much less lower... only two on gunbroker and both very overpriced.. if anyone has leads I’d appreciate it
  8. Glocks are thier own animal imo... they’re quickly becoming man purses with accessorizing them, painting them up, Et al.. when you have people buying a taran tactical range master type firearm at 2400 ish instead of a much more accurate and lighter trigger sti it kinda confirms my theory.. not to say decked out glocks aren’t good guns.. but to say good guns can be had from a box and often cheaper with less time involved but not “personalized”.. that whole “pimp my pew pew” trend reminds me of choppers from the beginning of the 2000s... everyone wants one, will spend s#!t tons of money for it, rideit twice and find it doesn’t turn corners then sell it at a 1/4 of investment price. just me but there’s no debate between a fine 2011 and a glock base firearm...
  9. I’m left handed and run Nordic components PCC. ( glock mag with max extension 57 rnds) I use my off hand while transitioning to drop mag and pull a reload when mandatory. Just practice the mag swap on the move. I thought about making a mag release bar I can hit with my trigger finger but it’s rare to have a mag change in my area. ( I was going through the trigger well and above the trigger so I can reach to a safe rest spot to press and release, I fabricated it but never installed since it’s not critical)
  10. Compared to the CZ scorpion, how does it stand up? my wife is interested in PCC and I’m thinking either the new mpx of gen 3 scorpion... price wise the CZ wins but I don’t want to buy something sub par... granted she shoots a Kel-Tec sub2000 and is small enough to use the sights so her mileage varies
  11. I’ve been running this with a romeo4 for three months now and love it. The price was good at 1200.00 and it’s solid. Accurate and durable. Compared to mpx and up it’s just as good as either at much less on price. The trigger is heavy but easily swapped out ( I haven’t yet since it’s got very little travel)
  12. I don’t know about that. Here in Vegas where there’s at least two local matches per weekends and hundreds of competition shooters who live in production class I think you’d get 200-500 sold just in my area easy enough if it’s better than a tan or shadow 2. Most guys here drop 2k on thier pistol, plus shoot limited and open with 2011s already. Another firearm that ups the game in production and gets known as “the go to top end production gun”. You’ll have no issue at all making solid sales. From my area, competition shooters set the list for best to buy. But we also have a lot of grand master shooters and a lot of high end gun stores who cater to that market. plus shot show brings in every big time shooter and youtuber yearly.... a store that has these in stock will be sold out end of February..
  13. I’ve been shooting with family on my own for years and built my own steel targets etc. when I found a good deal local to me for an sti 3gun I sold off some safe queens and collector guns and got it. Imo be patient and watch for good used guns. Im just starting at competition at 45. But I’m retired Army so I’ve got time to practice. Still searching for gear.
