  1. I'm a little bummed this is on the same day as malabar's 3 gun, but I guess you can't make everyone happy. Good to hear there are more matches popping up down here, though.

A little? I'm a lot bummed. Maybe in time there will be more matches.

really glad to see this happening though Mario. Kudos to you and all involved.

  2. For the last couple of months, we have been working on establishing an action challenge pistol match at the OK Corral Gun Club in Okeechobee, Florida.

The inaugural match will consists of 6 challenging stages with a minimum round count of ±150.

Please be advised that this match will be run as an ACTION MATCH, and as such will not, initially, be USPSA-sanctioned. The match will, of course, follow all USPSA guidelines regarding safety, divisions, scoring, penalties, and equipment requirements. As the matches progress, OK Corral be joining USPSA with the intent of hosting USPSA-sanctioned events—even, perhaps, state and regional events. Future Action Challenge Matches will scheduled for the 3rd Saturday of each month. Sign-in will be at the range clubhouse starting at 8:00 am, with a walkthrough at 9:00 am. The match fee will be $20.

The facility includes a pro shop, rifle range, sporting clays courses, competition shooting park, and restaurant. 4. "Prophet" interpretation of the USPSA rules versus a "user-friendly" interpretation.... This this could create some issues.

I believe the unloading process starts once you press the mag release. The reloading process is complete once the mag is inserted.

Note that 10.4 defines an "accidental discharge" as: (10.4.3) "A shot which occurs while loading, reloading or unloading a handgun". The presented language does reference whether the shot was fired under the shooter's control or not.

  5. To further clarify, mag removed and shot the round in the chamber. Also, it occured during the middle of the COF (i.e., additional targets remaining, not after ULSC).

My intial position was no DQ, however, after reading the rules, I reconsidered and believe it should be a DQ. The shot was during the process of loading, as there was a need to insert another mag to finish the COF.

8.4.1 When loading, reloading or unloading during a course of fire, the competitor’s fingers must be visibly outside the trigger guard and the handgun must be pointed safely down range or in another safe direction authorized by a Range Officer (see Section 10.5).

Under 10.4.3 a DQ should apply:

10.4.3 A shot which occurs while loading, reloading or unloading a handgun. This includes any shot fired during the procedures outlined in Rule 8.3.1 and Rule 8.3.7.
