  1. From my reading it was variations between their results and published data. But not knowing those those who wrote it, who knows honestly.
  2. Thanks for that information. CZ’s will be primarily what I’m loading for. Along with a few Sig’s and a highly worked over Kimber.
  3. Where are you at charge range, with 124 grain? From what I’m seeing 3.9 to 4.4 grains looks like my ladder.
  4. Darrell, your endorsement of it is the primary reason I’m looking to try Ba9.5 in the first place. Thanks for sharing your load data and knowledge to us still looking to learn, it is appreciated.
  5. I snagged the one in 357 magnum from him yesterday after work. Yes not the preferred conversion. But it beats waiting indefinitely.
  6. Some minor variations between lots would be no problems. A couple of these guys were talking major differences. Around 150-175 FPS from what published data suggests they would be at. Of course that is giving the benefit of the doubt they were using actual data.
  7. For those that use Vectan, in particular the ones that have been using it for sometime. How are they for consistency between lots? I’ve read some older posts on other forums guys claiming they’re not getting close to published velocities out of them. I’m wondering whether to chalk this up to inexperienced loaders, lot inconsistency, or them using incorrect data. For my use in particular Ba9.5 and Ba9 would be pretty serviceable if they’re somewhat consistent between different lots.
  8. Keep this updated with what you learn from Dillon. And what they do in regards to replacement parts. I just got home from picking an 1100 up a few minutes ago. I’m interested to see how this unfolds.
  9. Turns out the no conversion option became a moot point. Bobcat called today. Had a few units come in that weren’t spoken for yet and would I like to adopt one? Absolutely, so a short ride up to Indiana after work and my wait for an RL1100 is over. 3 weeks to the day. Setup begins tomorrow.
  10. Ordered through Bobcat Armament on Black Friday. He’s been seeing them on a somewhat regular basis.
  11. Just ordered an 1100 myself last weekend. Went with the no caliber small primer option in hopes it may appear sometime before next April. We shall see.
  12. I just ordered one directly from CNC Shooter last weekend. Got it Wednesday. I don’t know about now, but he had some in stock then.
  13. There’s no way to positively identify the powder used, so there’s no real good methodology to start load development from with an unknown powder.
  14. In my opinion, if you feel like there’s enough lube to remove after loading, then you used too much to begin with. Think very very light dusting. Not a drowning event.
  15. Probably just enough pressure difference between the two to not get a decent case seal on that stepped Walther chamber. I see the same mess with an HK at lower PF loads with ASP. Sport Pistol is relatively clean at 130 or so PF for me though. Not N320 or N330 clean, but clean enough.
  16. If I had to pick 1 powder to load 9mm, and N330 was unavailable it’d be WSF. Power Pistol and 330 are so close it’s not funny, other than muzzle flash. N340 and WSF mirror each other performance wise. Reason I’d take WSF is there’s not enough difference to justify the premium price. Both clean, accurate, low flash. Different price points. WAC/CFEP, 6 of one half dozen another. Your research is accurate. Dirty on the low end, clean up nicely at mid range plus. Not obnoxiously flashy on the high end. I’ve not loaded BE86 but have a friend that does. He gets some nice loads with it. Good numbers, accurate, clean mid to high range, nice little muzzle bloom though, not atrocious. Only powder I’m still trying to locate a few pounds of locally is True Blue. Word around the campfire is that it’s a true gem in a 9mm. I’d like to sample it on a small scale before I’d commit enough to order it in bulk.
  17. If I had to pick one single powder to reload 9mm with, it would be N330. To me it has no holes in it’s performance. It can get sooty at very low charge weights, every powder will do that. It will do minor to +P very well, accurately, cleanly, and none of the associated flash of Power Pistol. Simply it will do mild to hot as well as anything I’ve found to charge a 9mm case with. You wouldn’t make major PF with it, but that’s not a goal. As stated it’s only drawbacks have been cost and availability. It used to be a favored powder years ago, and Vhit changed importers to the US and N330 disappeared for several years. Loaders found other powders to accomplish the same goals. It never stopped being a great powder, just lost some fans because they couldn’t get it any more. I’ve used N320, N330, N340, N350, WAC, ASP, HS-6, and WSF. But I burn more N330 than the others combined. Opinions vary, but it works very well for me.
  18. Vhit N330, N340, and WSF would be about ideal for what you’re trying to do. They check all your wishes for what you’re looking for in a powder. Accurate at your approximate PF, clean burning, very low muzzle flash, and I highly doubt you could tell a difference in recoil between the 3 of them. The obvious still applies, Vihtavuori powder is higher cost than WSF. If you decide to run Vhit, buy ahead of your needs. It’s imported so availability can be an issue even in the best of times.
  19. Based on the series of pictures, I’d say that’s a 2 part problem. Out of battery and double charged. Per Hodgdon 3.2 gr is a start charge on a 147xtp at COAL of 1.1 with at 22,500 cup pressure. Based on how that case is blown out and bulged just at/above the case web, that’s an extreme pressure event that happened. The scorched carbon in the primer pocket and where the case head fractured tells you it was way hotter than a “book” load.
  20. I doubt you will find Sport Pistol on any burn rate charts. As a point of reference, I had described this product as an accurate metering, small diameter version of American Select(R), which has been a favorite of mine in light centerfire pistol target type applications for years. (It doesn't meter all that well though.) This powder is absolutely not American Select though, so make no mistake about that. The chemistry and geometry are different, but I just used that as an example that made sense to me. The third slide of the attached file shows how the P/V characteristics of Sport Pistol are essentially the same as N320, and close to Win231 and Titegroup in these applications. That is by design, as those three powders dominate the handloading by USPSA and IDPA shooters (according to our intel). We have received great feedback from our beta testers, so I think we hit our target. (Disclaimer: the P/V chart does not show charge weights shot for the data, so please do not assume that the powders are the same because their P/V characteristics are similar. Titegroup, for example is a high nitroglycerine powder, so it's charges are materially less due to the high energy. Use only the manufacturer's data please.) Thanks for the interest in our new product. a copy and paste of one of his responses omitting only who he replied to and his name given. In case you don’t believe some random stranger on the interwebs.
  21. Yes, per an Alliant Powder rep on another “Highly” rated forum he stated it has a similar burn rate, functionally overlapping with American Select. But also made sure to state they were two completely different powders.
  22. Anyone other than Country Attic carrying Sport Pistol close to Cinci? Fin Feather and Fur up in Ashland carries it but it’s a hike. Attic had an 8lb’er last time I was up there, but I wasn’t ready to commit 8 pounds worth at the time. I’m working a load up for a comp’d P30L over 115 HAP’s, if I can get it to function %100 without going way over book I’ll start buying it keg at a time.
  23. I know I’m digging this post out of the grave. But Sportsman’s Warehouse bought out the Field & Stream from Dick’s in Crescent Springs. Hopefully we’ll have another option here south of the river very soon.
