  1. To my understanding, OOB doesn’t necessarily mean the cartridge WASN’T completely in the chamber. It can mean the fully chambered cartridge inside the barrel hadn’t reached battery. My definition of battery, fully chambered cartridge inside barrel fully seated/locked with slide. Why OOB becomes problematic, it allows the slide to start reciprocation/recoiling before peak pressure has subsided and the bullet has left the barrel. Well why is that problematic? Because it starts stripping the BRASS casing out of a STEEL chamber that’s designed to contain peak chamber pressures. Brass casings just hold primers, powder, and bullets. They don’t contain 30K psi pressures or greater very well. Is it possible or even probable it was a high pressure event? Most certainly, could be from any number of reasons, over charged, double charge, set back, grossly over crimped, etc. But as we know guys shoot 9 major quite regularly at highly unknown pressures much higher than standard 9mm and don’t blow cases up, so long as they’re fully contained in a chamber FULLY in battery. Reason I don’t believe it was a double charge? The polymer grip looked to be mostly intact. I would have expected much more polymer damage or cracking if it were a double charge. Would I believe it was into the NATO or +P range pressure wise, certainly so? Thats just my understanding of the term OOB, hell maybe I’m entirely wrong.
  2. Gun pictured appears to a Walther. So yes it most likely has a stepped chamber that will leave a ring around fired cases. Miranda is right, you may have other cases fired from that chamber and compare it for OOB. My PDP will drop the striker well OOB, so much so I rarely ever shoot reloads in it.
  3. They’re awfully similar, although probably not the chemically exact same powders. Consider them close enough for government work. WST is another good to great minor powder. But by all accounts not a very forgiving one. That’s the reason data for it was mostly pulled and the manufacturer no longer recommends it in metallic uses. Goes from oh wow this is great to KB very quickly. It doesn’t stretch well at all. Where as N320 although fast almost requires wanton disregard for numbers to elicit a KB. Probably in large part to its single base nature.
  4. Alliant Sport Pistol, Vihtavuori N320, and Clean Shot should be on the short list as well. WSF and Silhouette are a little slow for minor but would work.
  5. As long as you’re not loading mouse farts, I’d say they’re extremely close on cleanliness. If you’re loading to replicate factory FMJ blaster ammo and keep PF to a similar level I didn’t see enough difference to warrant the premium for N340. Now you throttle back PF to less than 130 it’ll dirty up quite a bit, nothing atrocious. But you’ll notice it.
  6. I’ve run a few thousand of the 115’s and 124’s through mine. A Scorpion, KR-9, and MP5 clone with no problems. Hopefully I can get some 147’s loaded up to try before long.
  7. I’ll give you an idea how they shoot this weekend. Initial impression is very good, the same quality we’ve come to expect from Precision Delta.
  8. May be news to some, but Precision Delta has 3 members in the V.2 family now. 115,124,&147 grainers. Just got more of the 124’s in and couldn’t resist grabbing some of the 147’s to tinker with.
  9. Methods of payment Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay not a chance it’s legit.
  10. Current thread still on top page on the subject.
  11. Solely from my experience, dealing with stock guns with stock barrels, truncated cone bullets have generally loaded shorter than a more traditional round nose. I’m guessing PD designed the V.2 for the stock pistol crowd. Not to make the open class guys rethink their bullet choices. If you’ve got a winner with their V.1 then it’s a non issue, stick with it. No need whatsoever to tinker. But for guys that wanted a more traditional profile for whatever reason, now they have that option. And it’s a pretty dang good one, from one of the best names going. I’m guessing PD didn’t release the V.2 to diminish the V.1’s reputation or sales in any capacity. They released the V.2 to get their share of the market that was seeking a competition quality bullet in a more traditional profile. Smart business makes for good business in my book.
  12. It did require a little tinkering to get the Mr. Bullet Feeder to drop the V.2’s at %100 but wasn’t bad. I’ve got mine on a post by itself so I can pull it down to make adjustments on it easily. Instead of trying to reach over the press and make little adjustments.
  13. PM sent, let me know how to cover cost of shipping.
  14. Does anyone have a empty Vihtavuori N320 1lb bottle with the label intact and in good shape? If so would you be willing to mail it to me, if I pay the shipping? Recently changed up things on my press and now filling the hopper with a 4 pounder is a pain. I’d just like to have a matching 1 pound bottle to be able to fill the hopper with.
  15. Maybe Clay Dot, an Alliant powder with the off colored dots in it.
  16. Vihtavuori N320, one of the better low flash powders at minor. Also Sport Pistol.
  17. Only problem I've had with taper crimps is loading .355 bullets. No matter how hard a crimp I used, I did get bullet set back. To my experience, crimp has very little to do with preventing bullet set back. That’s a function with a properly adjusted, in spec sizing die giving proper case neck tension that holds the vast majority of the tension on the bullets. And over crimping can actually lower case neck tension. I’m wondering if maybe your die adjustment isn’t a little out of sorts. Or possibly over flaring the case mouth, after sizing.
  18. For me in the 124 grainers, the V.1 has been slightly more accurate. Shot over ASP and N320. In the 115 grainers they’ve been pretty much even. Both shot over the same powders as above. My handguns don’t mind either design as far as feeding goes. One of my PCC’s an HK pattern clone does decidedly prefer the V.2 as far as feeding goes.
  19. If I were actually loading self defense ammo, it’d be Gold Dots, pulled HST’s or nothing. Those 2 consistently perform at the top and are the overwhelming choice of LE.
  20. My weekend plans went awry, something about mice and men. And far from scientific testing, but I really wanted to shoot a few of these. I’ve had good luck with PD’s v.1 with 4.2 grains Sport Pistol and 4.7 grains N330. Seemed reasonable enough, hey try it under the v.2, so I loaded 25 of each. Shooting them. Hanging 6” steel plates, at various yardages starting at 12 and walking back towards 30 yards. I was at 100% till I crossed the 21 yard mark. Usually where I start getting a few misses with their v.1. Blame that on myself, not my equipment. No chrono data from my quick little outing earlier but I’m pretty happy so far. I’ll load a few more with ASP get some chrono data from my Magnetospeed and go from there. Probably do some shooting from rest to see true potential accuracy, might start tinkering with OAL at that point.
  21. For the competition set, I’m guessing the PD would find the most versatility. The RMR bullet has a quite blunt nose and for most seats fairly deep. While this new PD is more akin to a standard RN design. Allowing for more versatility in COAL, gives more room to tinker with load development. v.2 on the left……v.1 on the right 1.14 COAL versus 1.095 both plunk nicely same barrels.
  22. Their v.2 is a RNFP hollow point instead of a TCHP design. No skives in the jacket to aid in expansion. But given PD’s reputation for quality and accuracy I figured they were worth a shot. They only have them available by the 100 ATM Rudy, I’m guessing you may have ordered their original design.
  23. Just wondering if anyone has tried the newer version 2 jhp from Precision Delta yet? If so what were your impressions from it? I ordered a couple hundred that arrived this morning and really like what I see thus far. They will allow me at least a longer COAL than their v.1. I won’t be able to shoot any till next weekend, will try them over ASP and report back.
  24. Still in stock an hour after the first post, wow. Grabbed a few for myself.
