  1. I found some more help on Discord. The trick is that the CZ Shadow dovetail is 0.060" deep. So the 8.5mm (0.335"), measured from the bottom of the dovetail, needs a 0.275" (0.335 - 0.060) post.
  2. I want to replace the sights on my SP-01 Shadow with the CZC Adjustable Target Rear Sight and a Dawson Sight, for CZ SP-01 Pistols, Fiber Optic Front. The rear sight calls for an 8.5mm tall front sight. Is that 8.5mm the height of the front post or the height of the whole sight from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the post? Which Dawson height would be right?
  3. A narrow front sight, for sure. I like .100". I may have to try it with the wide rear. My other competition guns have .100" front and .120" rear which leaves me enough light on either side to feel like I have a good sight picture. The stock front post is .160".
  4. S&W says the rear sights for the Competitor are different than the CORE. The Competitor does have a blacked-out rear and is not too bad. My gripe is that the notch is very wide (.156") which means the front post must be wide, too. I prefer a .100" wide post, so I need a new rear to match.
  5. I did. They say they have no rear sights that fit.
  6. I'd like to replace the stock sights with a blacked-out rear and an FO front that would allow for a narrower than stock front post. Has someone here fount such a set?
  7. What are folks running on their M&P Competitors to increase the weight? I see Floyds Custom has a brass magwell, but no brass magazine extensions. Talyor Freelance has brass magwell extensions, but no brass magwells. I sure wish that S&W had just made the gun with a steel frame in the first place.
  8. What is known about parts interchangeability with 1911/2011? I think I know the frame, magazines, mag release, and thumb safety are not interchangeable. What about the rest of the small parts?
  9. Yes. ESP max weight is 43oz with an empty magazine.
  10. I shoot and enjoy them both. Lately I have concentrated on shooting the same gun in both sports - switching sports and guns didn't do well for me. Finding a gun that I like that fits the rules of both sports has been mildly irritating. Shooting an Alien in ESP and A fudgecicle nobody but a few crayon chewers and winder likkers want has worked. I'm now working on getting back to my 1911 in 9mm for ESP and SS Minor.
  11. Phil, How well does the pistol handle the newer (G2 and G3) Staccato mags with the Dawson aluminum basse pads? I have several of those and would rather not have to stock up on MBXs. https://dawsonprecision.com/magazine-9mm-38-staccato-p-xc-xl-20-round-140mm-by-staccato/
  12. Now that the IDPA site is up again, I see in that post (as you refernced above) this quote: "EDC-Fit the Box-Make Weight." What does the EDC part of that stand for? Surely not Everyday Carry.
  13. Thhe Staccato XL is very well fit - maybe not quite as tight as a Wilson Combat or Nighthawk 1911, but very well fit.
  14. Which of the several IDPA Facebook pages was this on? I'd like to use it as a refgerence.
  15. Like all guns, it has its tricks. But there is a ton of information on YouTube (but being blocked more and more) and the Internet in general. The 3rd party market is as strong, or stronger, than Glock and CZ). Message me is you get stuck or hit up the mart guys at: https://www.1911addicts.com/forums/1911-gunsmithing.46/ https://www.1911forum.com/forums/gunsmithing-troubleshooting.18/
  16. I am on the same path, but from the 1911/2011 platform. Another big trigger improvement can be had installing the Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger and Sear Housing. Too bad they are nearly impossible to find, right now. Even Earl does not have them.
  17. Polishing the firing pin block and reducing the power of its spring are pretty common ways to improve the trigger. Sprinco even sells a spring 'kit' with lighter trigger and firing pin block springs.
  18. It sure looks like the end of the road for the PPQ. But what of the Q4 and Q5 steel frame models? Are we to expect steel frame PDPs, or are the steel frames not popular enough to continue? Please speculate. I'm new to Walther and unfamiliar with their history.
  19. I agree. Very odd for a specialty gun not to have all the bells and whistles. I would have guessed it to have the optic cut, optic plate set, several magazines (at least 3), and lower weight trigger springs in the box.
  20. The good news about that part is it works like a little, partial, magwell and helps guide the magazine in. Wilson Combat uses the same style piece for their Berettas (but theirs are metal, of course).
  21. I installed the whole kit - trigger, trigger return spring, sear, sear spring, striker block, and striker block spring. Other than the trigger return spring, I can imagine that the parts you installed would be most of the improvement. But I had to get rid of the stock plastic, curved, and hinged trigger.
  22. The Apex flat face trigger kit is really quite nice. Mine runs at about 4# with very little over-travel and a nice crisp break. It's as good as any striker fired trigger I have tried with friends around the range.
