  1. 12" I think. you can see them in a video from one of our matches (this isn't me) and the really tall dark brown, rusty, ones are not the bases I was referring to
  2. We use round tube that fits the 2x2's we use for walls. The tube is welded to a flat bar about 16" long. We have single, double and triple tube versions but mostly doubles. We prefer the round tubes so we can orient the walls any any direction and are not limited to 180 or 90 degree alignment
  3. I am 6'4" tall and I can see things many people can't on hard leans, over barrels, etc. If the OP can lean out and see any fraction of the popper then he can try to shoot at it and thus he has engaged it. There is no definition of what seeing a target entails, only the minimum legal presentation from some point in the shooting area. If that minimum was met in another location then if he can see it, he can shoot it. Same thing applies to gaps between a wall and barrel, or in my case most often seeing the top few inches of a mini popper behind a barrel. If shooting at it goes through the barrel then its a REF if the steel falls, but I did see it and engage it per the definition of engaging, which does not say anything about everyone must be able to see it, just that it "is in view"
  4. If you already shoot CO the entry cost is essentially zero. If you want to add a magwell, maybe a couple hundred bucks. Don't need a slider racker if you use the dot.
  5. Because that made it so much better..... SMH Those changes don't address any of this controversy around "only" and "then"
  6. I have 4 Kore belts, two "gun" belts and two dress belts. They have been great, especially once they changed their buckles over to have the set screws and not just the clamp to hold the belt in it.
  7. I really like Mueller Magic Grip Spray. Its not cheap but it does not take much. Not tacky at all, dries quick to a fine chalky layer. Doesn't get all over everything as bad as heavier stuff. Lasts 2-4 stages depending on how hot it is and how much I am sweating or touching things.
  8. Put good thumb screws in the tensioners or switch to a level setup. That is the point of them for competition, loosen them at Make Ready, and tighten them after Range is Clear.
  9. until you figure out the game and what works for you and your gun, then whatever you can afford as long as it makes power factor.
  10. 4-4-4-reload is not allowed without penalty You didn't engage the targets after the reload per the WSB requirements. So you can be penalized under 10.2.2. I would also think that its 6 penalties because of the significant advantage of the time savings and lack of transitions. This is not about the incorrect number of shots, but about there being no shots at all after the reload, thus not engaging. It can also be considered stacking instead since you shot more rounds than required at a target prior to the reload while shooting fewer at a target after (the engage, reload, engage again requirement), so again 6 penalties. I think the blog post decision is just "clarifying" for us regular folk that "only" does not matter in terms of WSB stage procedures. I can see why they decided it's no penalty IF the word "only" can be ignored under 10.2.2./10.2.2.1 if total shots/hits/stacking penalties are correctly applied So 3-3-3-R-1-1-1 or 1-2-3-R-3-2-1 is okay here, but 4-4-4-R is not.
  11. I shot a few matches WHO when I broke my finger. Was not great but I wasn't last place. As long as you don't need to reload within a string then you are going to be okay. Be cautious of how you reload between strings or during make ready due to the rules about placing firearms on objects when loaded if that is how you handle your gun during those times.
  12. You need to check the matchbook or ask the MD when the range is open for inspection. it might not open early enough the day of to get all your initial walk throughs in. If it is a two match then maybe you can get the first stages in just before, then hit the second day's stages after you finish the first day.
  13. Because the WSB says engage one target, reload, then engage the other target. You didn't follow that procedure because you engaged both before and both after the reload. Nothing to do with the 10.2.2..1 exception of number of shots, this is purely 10.2.2 not following the procedure of one target, reload, other target. It's also supported by basically a derivative of this comment from the QOTM, which is saying that what targets you engage before/after the reload matters.
  14. Even though it says you can engage in any order NROI would probably say two penalties (one in each string) each under 10.2.2 since you didn't correctly engage the targets before/after the reloads per the WSB. That seems to be how they are defending the no penalty call for this QOTM
  15. They used to have a post about the Bull Shadow 2 available from CZC being prod/co legal. It said if you bought it from them directly it was not legal, but if you sent them an S2 frame and they built it into a BS2 that is 100% identical to what you buy from them, then that was legal. I sent them an email asking questions and the next day it was removed.
  16. Exactly, English is read left to right and that is the expected order. "Jump off bridge, pull ripcord, land" is the order of operations, but feel free to jump off bridge, land and then pull the ripcord.
  17. Side note but still on the stacking subject: The proposed rule change for stacked shots 9.4.5.3 is going to change the number of penalties one would get for stacked shots. Previously it was one penalty for each incorrectly engaged target given the commentary on NROI blog posts about VC (ignoring the what the rules actually say path we've now gone down) Proposed is on penalty for each saved transition. There will always be one less transition than targets engaged. Example: WSB says "Engage T1-T2 with only two shots each, perform mandatory reload, engage T1-T2 with two shots only. ". Shooter shoots 4 at T1, reloads and shoots 4 at T2, much like the El Prez example in this thread. Old rule would have two penalties as both T1 and T2 were incorrectly engaged. But the proposed rule would have only one penalty since there is only one transition saved, that going from T1 to T2 (or vice versa) Better yet, only a single target with 6, reload, 6 WSB. Dump 12 rounds then reload at the end is no penalty under the proposed rule since no transition. Can we just drop VC now and tweak Fixed Time?
  18. While I hate VC, I do like that is tests a few things. First, one's reading comprehension since many don't read the WSB let alone understand it. Second, it tests cognitive ability under the tiny bit of stress from the buzzer. A lot of folks are habitually pulling the trigger and do makeup shots and/or spraying and praying.
  19. This situation still isn't stacking as the shooter didn't shoot more than required at one target while shooting fewer at another target.
  20. You can't claim stacked shots here because as previously described in other NROI posts it has to save a transition to be stacking and that did not happen in this instance.
  21. That is where 10.2.2.1 come into play, where it says you can not penalize for not following the WSB based on number of shots. Now does 10.2.4 come into play? Several of us here believe so
  22. I am starting to agree that it should apply for the one shot since the point where the reload was required was after the 6th shot 10.2.4 A competitor who fails to comply with a mandatory reload will incur one procedural penalty for each shot fired after the point where the reload was required until a reload is performed. Or was that point after the 2nd shot on the third target? If the shooter shot 3, 2, 2 reload 1, 2, 2 then would it be the same situation? I don't think it would be because the shooter did reload after all targets were engaged twice.
