If you don't mind me asking, was it because of the weight of the PRS? I've had them on a few rifles, but the only one's I didn't mind having that weight on there were the Rem 700 and Savage 10 I had them on. They were just bench guns, so didn't carry them more than the distance from the parking lot to the range. Had one on an AR for a bit, but didn't like the balance.

Luckily I was able to try one out first (a buddy bought one). It was fun to shoot, but after a box of shells I was good. For me, it just wasn't something I'd get a ton of use out of.

One of these popped up at a shop near my work. I'm kicking myself for not snagging it while I was there. Wen't back a few days later, and it was gone. I really liked the feel of it. I'm digging the PRS stock on yours.

Nice work! I've been thinking about getting stippling done on mine, am using grip tape for now, but might have to check that out.

The double layer is what does it for me. They are just solid holsters. I have others that feel more refined, but I prefer the RHT.

I have big wide hobbit feat, so I mostly wear Keens. Super comfortable (especially for wide feet), light, and good traction. The one with KEENDry (Gortex like membrane) are great for wet conditions, but definitely go a version without in hot dry conditions. They breath much better.

I have a match elite, so I had the same issue. I was looking at the LOK grips too, but I was told they don't make them for the large frame witness. I ended up buying the lava grips. They are really thin, which I like a lot, and, in my opinion, feel much better than the stock rubber. Unfortunately, not too many other options that I could find.

CDNN seams to be about the cheapest right now, although, I think the price just went up from $29.99 the other day. Taylor Freelance makes excellent base pads. I also like the UTG +0, and you can find those cheap on Amazon sometimes. I recently picked up some black and some blue ones for less than $9 each as "add-on" items. While I like the UTG a lot, they're made in the US, and I think the quality is excellent, for full price I would stick with the TF.

Got the holster yesterday. Not nearly as robust as the RHT I have for my Canik, but it's nicely made, and fits well. The knob I had in the parts bin, so I threw it on.

Decided to set mine up for CO, and threw a Vortex Viper on it. The more I shoot it, the more I like it. Still want to try an Apex in it, when they have one available. Also, decided to try my Canik mags with the Taylor Freelance extensions. No function issues during the 200rds I shot. Doesn't lock back the slide, but that's fine with me. Trying to decide if I should make a sleeve for the mags, since they stick out a bit. Ordered a holster from Dara on the 7th, and it should be here tomorrow.

I was specifically looking for a steel frame gun, and had been intrigued by the Q5, so that's why I went with it. Advantage over the Q5? Only thing I've seen so far is the weight, but some may see that as a drawback. I think if I already had a Q5, I probably would have gone another route for a steel frame gun.

I recently picked up a TP9SFL for a good price, and figured it would be a good backup for my SFX, but looking at the production list, I do not see it. I'm wonder if they are planning on having it added or not. It's basically an SFX without the optic cutout. Has anyone tried using one for production? Still new to this, but wondering what it takes to get a gun added? Thanks!

I use Glock 17 stainless guide rods from NDZ in mine. The gen 3 with the gen 4 adapter. I turned down the lip on the adapter a little bit, and it fits perfectly. I've been running 15lb springs, and a mix of factory ammo with no issues. I've been thinking about trying tungsten, but not sure it was worth it over the stainless I'm already using. If I didn't already have them, then I probably would give one a shot.

I finally got out with mine for the first time last night. Still on the fence on how I feel about it. I was a little disappointed, but to be honest, I think that was more me than the gun. I had quite a few times where I must have shifted my finger slightly, and the trigger safety didn't disengage. I haven't shot much other than my Caniks with Freedomsmith triggers lately, so the Walther trigger wasn't doing it for me. I am anxiously awaiting the Apex trigger for this one. I kept pulling to the left too. I had a hard time getting a hold that felt perfect. The grip feels just a little larger than what I like, and just a smidge shorter than I wish it was. All that being said. It shot nice and soft and consistent. I picked up a box of 124gr Syntech to try out, and that was super flat (I liked it a lot). Shot a mix through to see how it performed (115gr Fiocchi, 124gr Winchester NATO, 124gr Federal Eagle, 115gr MFS Brass cased, and the Syntech). Recoil was extremely manageable with all. By the end of the trip I was shooting it better. Ultimately, I just need to get some more time behind it, and get used to the feel.

I've built a lot of rifles, in calibers ranging from 223 to 338 rum, on Savage actions, and I've never had the issues like I'm hearing here. I've even built a couple on Axis actions. A lot of the issues I've seen with Savages, and why they have a bad rap, is that people that don't know what they're doing will work on them, and then complain when something goes wrong. That doesn't mean they are flawless, but neither are Remingtons (which I've built on too, and also enjoy). The biggest issue I've had was with the Accu-trigger, but that was poor technique on my part with a really light trigger. I was engaging the trigger before the safety blade was fully pressed. I wish aftermarket support was as good as Remington, but it has grown, and you still have quite a few options. The Savage Shooters forum is a great place to research more on Savages.

I've had good luck with GG&G. They make some nice bipods that fall in between the Harris and Atlas price wise, but are closer to Atlas features. I've had one that I've used on anything from an AR to a Savage in 338 rum, and it's been great. No regrets with the purchase. I will say though, my experience is based on PRS and not 3 gun.

That's how I read it. I'm still a newbie to all of this, and still familiarizing myself with the rules, but anyone have any thoughts why it wouldn't eventually be production legal?

I've been hemming and hawing on getting a Q5 Match, but with my Canik TP9SFX, I didn't feel like there was enough of a difference to justify. Well, I stopped by one of the shops I frequent, and they had one SF in stock, and it was marked for $1210 (not the pro model). Lowest price I had seen, and I couldn't pass. Had to put in on layaway, but should be picking it up late next week. When they were ringing it up, the price came up at $1340, but since they labelled it wrong, they gave me the $1210 price, Super excited to try this one out.

Very cool. I was thinking the magwell would be my first change, but wasn't sure if it was worth the price. I stink at mag changes with this thing. Haven't had much AK experience. I should clarify. I was only able to shoot slugs because of the range restrictions, not because of the gun. I have no doubt it will chew through most anything I feed it. Thanks for the tip on the cover, I'll have to check it out!

I picked up one of these from Centerfire Systems when they had a deal where you bought one, and you got an SAS12 for free. I've only taken to the range once so far, and was only able to shoot slugs, but no issues and it shot great. Overall I was impressed. Been thinking about making some changes, but it's really just a range toy for me, at this time, so hard to justify the cost right now. I'm sure I will at some point. How do you like the magwell?

I'm seeing it along the length of the bolt body, in a few places, and where the hammer rides on the bottom. I'll have to try lubing it up even more. Thanks for the info! I couldn't find anything on the "3 Gun Labs" bolt, and didn't know about the Surmount Defense or Shooting Innovations versions when I was looking (still new to all this). Did a little digging with this new found knowledge, and found your 3000 round update on the one you had. I'll have to pull it apart and take a look at how it's doing. All in all, I don't regret giving it a shot. I was able to snag it for just under $100, so while a loss of money, it's not a huge one. After using a Brownells in another build, that will be the direction I go from now on.

I went with the 6lb Ghost firing pin spring in mine, with an NDZ Glock guide rod, and 15lb spring. Works great on 115gr. Just tried some 124gr, and the slide wasn't fully feeding the next round reliably. Think I need to move to the 13lb for those. Otherwise, the gun has run flawlessly. Looking to pickup another.
