  1. Any reason not to buy the 23 round Altas mags for LO? They are on sale currently for Black Friday. I guess one could swap out the competition follower if it isn't reliable? Anyone have any insight on the 21 vs 23 rounders? Juice worth the squeeze?
  2. Started a new Limited Optics journey myself. It's a 4.25 model. Before I even took it to the range, I oiled it and cleaned the cerakote out after racking the slide a bunch. Initially took it out without the optic. With the Brazos kit and the 17 lb mainspring, I had 3 or 4 light strikes with the factory firing pin and FP spring. A Dawson extended FP and Wolff XP firing pin spring fixed that. I thought my factory STI Ranger had a nice trigger. The Brazos is head and shoulders above. It's sitting at about 2.25-2.5lb break. Also, it has a Red Dirt USA trigger. Running factory mags so far. 800 rounds in and no problems with those. I also added a 10-8 mag catch (great for a lefties) and slide stop. Both of those would be a requirement for me on the Prodigy. Just makes life easier. The factory optic plate did come loose in the first range trip, due to the plate screws contacting the top of the slide. I did trim them beforehand but I missed one by a few thousandths of an inch. It didn't come loose in the next 300 rounds. I believe that's where some people are running into issues with these. The screw won't properly torque if it's impacting something under the screw itself. Such as the slide or extractor. I see why people can get hooked on 1911/2011 platforms. It will run doubles at .20 splits at 5 yards into a IDPA headbox without much effort. Its accurate enough with my 135gr Blues. I may try some other profiles and weights. It will be fun next season for LO and IDPA CO.
  3. I'm looking to do the same thing. Please update your experiences whenever you think about. I have a 550c but considering a 1100 for 9mm only. And keeping the 550c for small runs of rifle/pistol.
  4. IDPA M here. First real USPSA classification is B. That is after I was IDPA M for a while. Match bumps only.
  5. I was going to comment probably because you're shooting a DA/SA and not SAO version. I'd agree. I wouldn't want to run a DA/SA Tanfo with a stock hammer spring either. My PD 15.5 was lighter than my Xtreme M but it wasn't as reliable for me even with a PD firing pin.
  6. Currently, Hornady Critical Duty 135 standard pressure. I've used Federal 147 HST in the past as well. Much hotter than the Critical Dutys.
  7. Shot this at a local today. I went center first, bottom then partial. Reload then left and right. Took that advice from a Lim/M. 12 A, 4c, 10.45. 6.890 HF. CO/B. Had a visualization error. Almost initiated a reload after 4 rounds. Cost me almost a second. Some meat on the bone at my current skill level.
  8. American Reloading had 6k Fiocchi SPP for $469 shipped. Free shipping and no hazmat. Best deal I've seen since thing went crazy. .078c per.
  9. @waktasz, Thanks. My SRO comp gun turned on and off as I use it. Just turn it all the way down until I can't see it. I've had good luck with batteries that way. My carry SRO stays on all the time. In the default mode, it dims right now after 16.5 hours according to the manual. I'll playing with locking into a brightness setting which turns off the dim timer.
  10. Do you have yours locked into a brightness setting? Just seeing how others have their EDC SROs set. Since it will default to dim after time, you either have to check it before you go to bed or I risk not being able to see it in the middle of the night.
  11. I agree it would be almost next to impossible to scale a division back. But I think if you offered up a unlimited version of CO/LO, you could scale back CO to a production CO division. Under 45oz or adheres to a production list, 15 rounds or whatever fits in a box. I think CO and LO would be too similar if they just created another division and added SAO and magwells.
  12. I think it would be easier to develop with one platform in the beginning. Then, it should take you less time to get in tune with a new platform after your fundamentals are solid. If you're trying to get better, keeping everything gun handling related consistent, will be most rewarding. Your draw index will change from pistol to pistol. The way the mag indexes in your hand with width or height. Where the magwell is. It's all little stuff but you build confidence and consistency that way.
  13. I've got two SROs that have been working well. One with 15k+, one I bought used so I'm unsure of the round count. I've put at least 4500 on that one. I've also got a 508T but not near the round count. It was on a carry gun for awhile, now its on a gun that doesn't get shot currently.
  14. I've only pulled off skin on the back of my strong hand from the grip of my support hand plus more chalk than I probably needed. On the top of my middle finger mainly. A good test Hwansik Kim uses to find the right amount of firing hand pressure to start with is shooting with the strong hand only and backing of the pressure until the grip actually moves around in your hand. It might be a lot lower than you think depending on your starting grip pressure. Once it starts to move in your hand, just increase it a little. I would avoid the grip trainers. Dryfiring like you should, you'll get all the grip strength workout you need. Hands should be fatigued after 10-20 minutes if you're just starting out. Using Trigger Control at Speed will tell you a lot about your grip. When you get your shot timer, set it on random and aim at a small point such as a paster at 3 or 5 yards and smash the trigger like you would in a match as SOON as you hear the beep. Should be a .2-.25 reaction time. See what your sights do and feel what your hands do.
  15. My most reliable setup was a Henning FP and an EG Xtreme Medium on my Limited Pro. Using a factory hammer.
  16. Looking forward to your journey! Keep updating it.
  17. Most of my RDS screws and 6/32, I believe. I end up around 15-18 inch pounds with 242 blue loctite. Usually try to clean the threads with brake clean or alcohol to remove and grease/oil/previous threadlocker.
  18. Just watched Army of the Dead and that is worth a few laughs. At one point, a Glock runs empty without it locking back. Then the trigger gets pulled and somehow the slide magically moves rearward, locking open.
  19. I'm 100% on board. It so simple when you think about it. Does your gun have an optic or not? Is your gun factory or not? Go here, go here. It would make my 3 TF 140s almost useless because I'd want to shoot Prod Optics.
  20. Since my last post in this thread, I've now gone striker fired. Walther PDP 4" compact with an SRO and my main match gun is a PDP 5" compact with an SRO.
  21. I was surprised at the amount of votes for a 15 round LO. I agree though. I'd like a 15 round true Production Optics and then you can have the unlimited, no comp Optics division to compliment.
  22. Seeing online companies running free hazmat is telling me availability is better. Hopefully we see prices starting to trickle down as well.
  23. Scotch. Not sure. Bourbon. Russells Reserve Single Barrel.
  24. I shoot both. In the beginning of my journey, shooting both sports was harder. Especially if you wanted to do well at either, for me. So I put USPSA on the back burner. But now that I'm further in my skill level, I would like to transition to more USPSA. The talent pool is much deeper.
