At the end of the day, it's just preference, but when you've developed that preference and your other guns all use side chargers, it's nice to stick with it and keep all the guns the same. Doesn't mean it's a necessity or a requirement for competition or anything, but a lot of people do feel it is an improvement in ergonomics and a more "modern" design. I do agree that the extended competition charging handle from JP is very overpriced at $240 just for the handle, but so are their sidecharging upper receivers. I have multiple Gibbz Arms/Quartercircle10 (produced by Gibbz Arms) sidecharging upper receivers, AR15 and AR9, and I like them a lot. If people are capable of putting together a gun themselves, this is probably the way to go. JP seems to generally be more for the people who don't like piecing together guns themselves or tuning/tinkering. That said, this gun could be very cool. I was already very interested in the Angstadt Arms MDP-9, but it's been 2 years now and it's still not out. If this is done well and has a sidecharger-only option, I'll get one. Hopefully they offer plenty of options to make everyone happy... traditional rear charger model, sidecharger model, different handguard and barrel lengths (for competition or PDW), mlok handguards, etc.

To be fair, they haven't really done it all that well in the past with one of the options they had offering both a rear charger and a sidecharger at the same time, which is worse and a cop out just to allow creating only one model. (The rear charger should just be removed altogether, ideally.)

Exactly. The rear charger is the only thing really wrong with AR15 ergonomics. The side charger is just better, and it also allows a gun to be more versatile in some ways, because not having gas leak out of the rear makes a gun a better suppressor host, and eliminating the buffer tube makes the gun more compact. So, it allows for a wider variety of usage/applications outside of gaming.

This is what I want to know. It kills me that they left the s#!tty rear AR style charging handle on this thing despite already having side charging upper receivers available on some of their blowback ARs. Same problem with the MPX. Would be so much better with a non-reciprocating sidecharger. FWIW, Angstadt Arms showed off a roller delayed MP5/AR9 hybrid PCC about 2 years ago at SHOT Show, but they still haven't made it into production. It's called the MDP-9. It's more self-defense/suppressor host focused rather than gamer gun focused, but supposed to work with standard AR9 lower receivers, like the Quarter Circle 10. Also, it has a non-reciprocating sidecharger, and they eliminated the buffer tube. Something like that would be the most ideal setup, IMO.

Have any of you tried running the Federal Gold Medal Grand Xtra-Lite with a Dissident Arms KL-12 Elite Vepr? It's supposedly 1100 fps. Just wondering whether or not it will cycle reliably. This is a 1 1/8 oz load, by the way. Just asking because I see a bunch in stock somewhere.

Anyone ever find out if you can buy the extension to convert the 015 into the 015XL? It looks like they completely stopped selling the 015, and the 015XL is exactly the same price. For anyone that has the XL, can you detach the muzzle support or is it built into the holster?

Or just a heavy frame for a Glock-based platform. Zev is really missing an opportunity by not providing an all steel or tungsten-infused polymer frame for the OZ9. As others have mentioned, there are already very good triggers (Johnny Glocks, Tactical Trigger) available, and the bore axis is much better. If it had the same weight as the P320, it would be hands down better, IMO.

The new website appears to list the XL, which includes the muzzle support, for the same price as it went for before without the muzzle support, but it also doesn't show the support in the product images. A little weird...

Anyone directly compare these? The Weber Tactical Gamer mag pouches look nice, but they are also significantly more expensive. Outside of aesthetics, is there much justification for the higher price here? Do they allow mags to release more quickly than the Safariland pouches?

Got mine put together now. Timing the barrel nut was annoying as hell. I have to say the attachment method Coda Evolution uses for their carbon fiber handguards is MUCH nicer. Anyway, haven't shot it yet. Might try it out this weekend.

They already exist, and there are tons of people out there who carry Glocks and CZ P10_s with comps every single day. A lot of the rules in USPSA make no sense. RE: The OP of this thread, I agree 100%. Frame weights should be allowed. What's the point of allowing the overall weight to go up to 59oz if you aren't allowed to add external weights to Glocks, M&Ps, CZ P10_s, etc.? It's unnecessarily punishing the light striker fired polymer guns and gives the advantage to guns that start out heavy, like the Shadow 2 or the P320 X5 Legion. All it really does is reward certain OEM manufacturers and pushes everyone into using the same guns.

I'm about to buy a barrel for a Glock 34 length OZ9 build for Carry Optics. I noticed the 2020 rule changes, and it looks like threaded barrels may now be legal, as the previous portion of the rules that specified that the barrel had to be the same length, contour, etc. as the OEM barrel have been deleted and replaced with a simpler rule that says nothing about those things. Can anyone confirm that my interpretation of the rules here is correct? Can I use an aftermarket threaded barrel with thread protector installed (obviously, no compensator). I ask primarily because I just want to buy one barrel, and I like threaded barrels because of being able to use them with suppressors/comps in my free time, not because I'm looking for an advantage, though I suppose there would be a small advantage here with a tiny bit of extra added static weight from the longer barrel.

How much will the muzzle support cost? I assume the price of the XL will be higher than the original price of the 015 early adopters paid?

Can someone give some insight into the sizing for the ELS competition belt? How many inches should I add to the measured circumference of my waist for the belt? 2"? 4"? 6"? Also, does anyone know how much longer the belt actually is vs the inches given for its size? For example, the Shooters Connection belts are 8" longer than their listed sizes. What is the actual length for a size 40" Safariland ELS? Is it 40"? 44"? 46"? 48"?

+1 I always buy 3M stair grip tape and cut it up to apply to exactly where I want it. It's cheap and extremely grippy. I have it on trigger shoe faces, mag release surfaces, bolt catch surfaces, etc.

What's the pull weight on them?

While some people might not find it ideal, I don't think you can really say definitively that 2.5 MOA won't be good enough considering Max Leograndis has won PCC championships over and over again using the Holosun 510C. I have a bunch of 510Cs and like them. That said, my Swarovski Z8i's dot is about 7 or 8 MOA at 1x magnification, and I don't feel like it is too big. The 5-6 MOA of the SRO and Romeo 3 Max/XL is probably the perfect sweet spot.

If you ever find a shop willing to machine a grip, let me know. I'd buy one.
