  1. Works prefect, connects nearly instantly, and stays connected.
  2. I have a slot on squad 34 Thursday afternoon that I'd like to swap for any Friday or Saturday morning slot. hey, ya don't know unless you ask...
  3. I hope I shoot so well at Worlds that people will think I've been sandbagging!
  4. I didn't include the wed/Thur shooters, as it's likely several of those have comp'd slots. Still, 69 guns at a major? Prize table should be for some nice pickin's...
  5. Can't believe they still haven't pulled the plug on this debacle. I just checked and as of right now there are: 5 guns Friday AM 0 guns Friday PM 10 guns Sat AM 2 guns Sat PM 9 guns Sun. Total of 11 shooters...
  6. Oh man, I like that. I wish I hadn't seen that...
  7. Troy McManus wrote about this very subject in his column in the USPSA magazine a couple issues/months ago.
  8. Flying so far under the radar, the plane has crashed. Incredibly bad date planning as there are something like 6 other Level II or better SCSA and USPSA major matches going on the same weekend. Then there's the $100 per gun entry, and no one goes to a major to only shoot one gun. As I write this there are... (drum roll...) 1412 open slots. Me thinks this match is going to be cancelled, rescheduled, or be a complete bomb. There's no way it will be a success on this date.
  9. To say that the intent of 8.3.8.7 is to prevent access to the trigger is a bit misleading. The *entirety* of that paragraph clearly states that "3-Gun Carts may be used" and "...whether or not they are cased" so obviously the trigger is in plain sight with the chamber flag in view.
  10. Tried and true, batteries are never dead. It you lose one, you just get another. Mack's 33db foam
  11. I may he completely ignorant on this, but I just can't visualize a significant amount of people who are sitting at home saying "I'd shoot Steel Challenge if they'd just do away with the movement on Outer Limits." I could get behind changing the single box penalty from 4 seconds to 3 seconds, but no way on eliminating the movement. That borders on Cancel Culture meets the Shooting Sports. Meanwhile, more than 700 guns are registered for the WSSC later this month, and I dare say every one of those shooters will be moving on OL.
  12. I have no direct experience with the Ruger bolt, only this tidbit of info: when i asked Steve Foster his advice on parts for the VolKrak, he highly recommended spending the extra money and getting the Volquartsen bolt. I'm really glad i did, as it glides glass smooth in the upper.
  13. Corollary question: Why are Oympic games for less ambulatory competitors held separately from the 'main' games?
  14. I emphatically disagree. Outer Limits and Speed Option both require 35 yard depth. Gonna retire that one too?
  15. Hmmm.. I could be wrong. We could both be wrong. I'm shooting an 8 stage match Saturday, and hopefully another 8 the following Saturday. I'll ask around.
  16. Weird thing? What's weird about pointing out the uniqueness of the stage? The few of us on this forum are in our own small bubble. I really doubt the masses will support doing away with OL.
  17. There is more to outer limits than just the movement; it's the only stage when the shooter purposely stops mid-string from a steady cadence, (moves) and to some degree, has to reaquire the next plate before continuing to fire. That alone is worth keeping outer limits.
  18. Many clubs that host SCSA matches never run Outer Limits (or Speed Option) because they don't have bays deep enough to do so. Why don't these clubs have higher than normal percentages of physically challenged shooters that are happy about that fact? If they never run OL, those who are physically challenged should be flocking to those matches. I'm not seeing that happen. In the southeast at least, clubs with 'deep' bays that have the flexibility to offer any of the 8 stages (at their 5 or 6 stage match) seem to get the best attendance. Some clubs go so far as to brag/advertise their ability to run outer limits and speed option to boost preregistration. When clubs start advertising "we do not run Outer Limits! No movement required!", that's when this might get traction. With registered shooter counts up astronomically over the past three years, it doesn't seem like this is the lowest hanging fruit of problems to fix. Please don't misinterpret my remarks as being unsympathetic to those shooters who are physically challenged for whatever reason. Nothing makes me cringe more than when I go to a USPSA match (less, and less often) and see a stage that requires running to a position, then having to get on my knees. The pain starts before I ever get there. I don't like it, but I cope. I know I'll be 5 seconds slower on that stage than most others. I'm not going to ask that prop be tossed out simply because I don't want to get down and up off the ground. I'll take the penalty.
  19. I am not in favor of changing SCSA stages, particularly Outer Limits. We race against the clock and with our peers. Life isn't fair, and never will be. Accept it, or don't.
  20. Well, I just fell for it an hour ago, but fortunately PayPal saved my dumbass. The 'mutual friend' on FB is James Barton, hawking primer availability from Redwing Tactics. My first clue sure have been that 'Redwing' responded to Messenger at 11:30 pm, claiming that yes, they had Win, and CCI in stock. Second clue was the syntax of writing was a bit off, but I attributed that to spell check. Third clue should have been when I asked about Sport Pistol, and the person didn't know what I meant. I glanced at the Redwing website and it looked legit. (Had I looked at their accepted methods of payment, I would have seen the huge red flag.) I sent a message to James Barton asking about Redwing Tactics. Moments later received a glowing, but oddly worded endorsement. Reading them over again, it's apparent both Redwing and James Barton's responses were written by the same person. Caught up in primer and powder euphoria, I attempted to send the $370 PayPal anyway. PayPal blocked it. The seller then requested the funds from me. PayPal blocked it again. Then I got suspicious and had the uh-oh moment. Searching BE I found this thread. Then I went back to the James Barton FB post, and guess who has been commenting on the thread; none other than our friend Mason Wills... Looking through the Barton posts, is apparent now to me that they are fake. I gotta give props to PayPal, they saved me $430 tonight.
  21. So, back to the optics and Mamba X upper that we touched on earlier... With the X, there are three optic mount choices; rear, middle, and forward. I've only shot it yet with the optic on the rearward position. What are the pros and cons of rear/middle/front? Though the muzzle rise and rotational force is minimal, I'm wondering if the 'pivot' point is farther forward and the optic would be more stable in the center position?

I like the WD40 Specialist dry lube w/ ptfe for the trigger assembly, but use Mobile1 0W-16 synthetic motor oil on the bolt. An $8 quart at Wal-Mart will last you forever. It's the ticket, especially in cold weather.
  23. It doesn't look like they've posted it yet. I have family less than 15 minutes from the South Kent club, so maybe... I'll be able to make it this year. This "South" match is posted; escape the frozen North and come join is! There's still a few slots open... https://practiscore.com/south-georgia-steel-challenge-championship-2022/registe
  24. Very nice! Looks nearly identical to mine -which i copied from a friend. I know a lot of people in Georgia that are running the exact same setup...
  25. Lots of people do that. Though it's a bit pricey, having another bolt that could remain in the X upper would allow you to switch the entire upper assembly in seconds (assuming you're using the push-button Ruger lower) without getting your hands nasty.
