  1. All thanks for the input I guess there is no defacto standard I am guessing that pros would say as far as FPS my logic is the closer to 851 that I think I could get without failing the test at a major would be best to control recoil. I may stick with my logic and just load down to as close to 851 as possible and as long as I am still hitting good then I will stick with that.
  2. So I am reading for 9mm I plan on shooting 147gr FMJ in competition Currently my loads are coming in at 950 FPS average. Should my goal be to get as close to the minimum feet per second of 851 so I have less recoil? Wondering if 851 FPS keyholes and is enough to knock down steel poppers I have about 1000 147gr hand loads at 950 FPS that I will shoot through prior to loading down closer to 851 FPS Thanks to all who reply and have more experience on this than I. Still relatively new to reloading
  3. Ok I have had my eyes checked I do so annually but on cardboard I can't see hits or misses worth a crap. If the cardboard is white NO SHOOTS I can see the hits better but not on the standard brown cardboard. I LOVE to shoot steel simply bc well hits and misses is a no brainer you know if you hit the dang steel and on stages with ONLY steel I consistently do infinitely better than on stages with cardboard paper targets.
  4. Answered my own question none The smallest one they have is plus 0 and it is 1.6 oz and the base pad can be 1 oz Taylor Freelance has exactly 1oz basepads just FYI to anyone who cares your research has been completed for you.
  5. I believe my 9mm are plus 5s and my got will not fit in the box. I just started IDPA. They sell a plus 3 and a plus 0 I want to add as much weight as possible to the gun I know it is marginal and likely won't matter whether plus 3 or 0 but if the if plus 3 will work I would rather have the additional weight even if fractional
  6. oh and no keyhole and lowest recoil but still qualify I know this is asking a lot and there is a science to reloading for sure but my 3.9 grain with the 147 and oal at 1.15 in length I am having what seems to be more recoil than 9mm 115 grain factory loads
  7. Precision delta bullet accurate #2 powder oal is around 1.15 I set oal based on winchester white box and federal store ammo that is 115 grain bc I had no clue
  8. I am new to reloading I have my current loading set to 3.9 grain on powder for the 147grain round nose bullets I have. The recoil still seems to be high. Open to suggestions.
  9. Sorry if this has already been discussed but was hoping to get some answers on other ways to make sure no double charging happens on a 550 other than just buy a 650 or 1050 or other autoindexing press. I am looking for a more efficient way than measuring and weighing each bullet like maybe dumping the bullets in a tray I dont know here hoping someone has answers on this. I just dont want to see myself get careless and accidentally mess up
  10. Glad a cool forum dedicated to uspsa exist
