Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi Bill, Fingers crossed you are able to find used. In the event you are not, call me and I'll get you in contact with the local place that cut our plates and hangers out. I'll PM you my cell # Chris
  2. I'd recommend watching some of the Pro's talk about getting faster. Ken's channel is one that I find useful: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwFSygw5bf4JdZqUFGwF0Gw
  3. The matches are going good, 3rd one will be 24JAN21. There are 7 spots left: https://practiscore.com/howell-gun-club-steel-challenge-winter20-match-3-clone/register
  4. 1) I used wrong verbage, the Rear table is a 4" thick high-walled and roofed device that is our load/unload station, thats a mistake by me 2) Thanks - I miss PPC competitions and had them on the brain 3) Each table at the bays is 10+ ft long. 3 feet of that is carbine racks with muzzle pointed at berm, the other half will be available to safely work of the shooters Thanks for the help Clem!! Chris
  5. Ok- here is what I've come up with. Again, assuming plenty of new-shooters, I should be able to run this in 3-4 minutes. I appreciate the feedback. Safety Briefing @12:50pm Welcome to Howell Gun Club’s 1st Steel Challenge match 1) Anyone with a defensive pistol on their body or in bag, please go to the REAR Safety area and remove it. Make sure you don’t have more than 1 gun at the start-box. 2) 22 rimfire and PPC– Everywhere on the property except the start box, guns MUST have a chamber flag, be in a case and zipped close. Wheeled carts are fine, so long as you don’t touch until in the start-box. 3) The safety tables at each bay are for storage of cased guns during the stage. No Ammo on the tables. 4) If you drop a gun anywhere on the property, DO NOT pick it up. Call an RO and have them properly retrieve the gun. 5) RO’s are all wearing yellow safety vests; they are here to help in any way possible. If you are new or unsure of procedures at the line, just ask your RO’s, they will coach you through all the steps until you are comfortable. 6) In the Start-box – 180 rule applies, keep the muzzle of gun downrange at all times. Rotating muzzle more than 90 degrees up, left and right of downrange is a DQ. 7) Painting of steels will be done between each shooter; I’m asking the entire team to: once the RO has called “Range is Clear” grab one of the paint cans and touch up the hits please.
  6. Thank you Sir, I understand and agree with you. In our case, about 40% of the shooters have never run this sport, so I'm going to give a few minutes of the most important safety issues. Future matches will have a far shorter meeting...
  7. Does anyone have a safety briefing that you either heard at a match and you liked, or one that you use at your matches? I know most of what I want to say at our first local match but I want to be concise and complete in all the items to cover, and somehow keep it between 5-10 minutes. I'm looking for suggestions and feedback please? Thanks, Chris

  9. BTW- The club has 5 action bays, if the interest is there, I can setup stages on all 5 bays simultaneously
  10. Hi BC, Bob registered 2 guns earlier today, I spoke by phone with him this morning. I'm setting up 5 stages on 3 bays for the first event, 2 bays will have a VERY fast reset. (All stages will be SC) Did I mention that we have bay-side parking, shelters on every bay and propane heaters in every shelter? Yes, multiple guns can be run in this event. $15/first gun, $5/every additional gun. Coffee and Hot Chocolate served. I'll work on food in future events... BTW- The club has 5 action bays, if the interest is there, I can setup stages on all 5 bays simultaneously Chris
  11. Hi All, I love shooting steel so much, I decided to go "legit" and get my local club setup and running. I've got all the equipment in and our first match be 27DEC2020 at the Howell Gun Club, in Howell Michigan. It's probably the wrong time of year to start, but we do have enclosures at each action bay, with propane heaters... I'll be looking for answers to questions I have with hooking up practiscore to the SCSA site and how do I get the scores back to SCSA for official documentation? Thanks,
