For the last year+ I’ve been using a P320 Legion for CO. Before that I used a P320 X5. I’d guess I have atleast 150k+ rounds on the 2 different styles of P320. That said, my season has wound down I’ve been messing with various configurations to find out what works best.
To put it plainly, IMO the legion is just not a very accurate gun. Sure, it’s more that sufficient to be rated “combat accurate”, but at farther distances it struggles. A lot of this has to do with how picky it is about what ammo you use. It seems like it likes 124gr bullets the best. But even then it’s not what I would consider great. In the end I generally considered a 2-2.5” group at 15 yards from a rest about as good as it got.. Some loads I used were much worse.
I dusted off some of my X5s, and you know what? It’s easily twice as accurate as the legion. And it’s less picky about the ammo. Essentially at 15 yards I’d get a 1”ish group, with a wider variety of ammo. Stuff that absolutely would not group out of the legion will group just fine with the X5.
Seems like Sig took a step backwards with the legion, and it’s hard to understand why. I know a lot of people didn’t understand the X5s pre tension and that is likely why it was changed. But, IMO it reduced the accuracy a good bit. I’m sure that some will chime in that their p320 legion will shoot the eye out of a bird flying... but that seems to be the exception and you see many more people complaining about legion accuracy.
Because I have TSA trigger work, I ended up putting a X5 upper on a legion lower. This maintained the accuracy and everything seems to work ok. I’m going to give this a try for awhile.
in any case, I’d be interested to hear about other people experiences with the legion comapred to x5.
