Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Thanks for that suggestion. Easy enuf to throw in a g17 slide stop, and if that doesn't fix it, I'll just take it out.
  2. I thought about taking it out (the slide stop) just wasn't sure if there would be a down side to doing so??
  3. Yes, randomly with all mags. Mags are stock Glock (no pmags or others).
  4. I built a G35 for a distraction from 9mm major for open (IPSC). I built it using a G35 with a KKM comp'd barrel, Gomney Alpha trigger and a few other bits, but left things like the locking block and slide stop and spring are stock. I've been loading 180grn pills with various powders and for the most part it's been fine. Recently tho, I've started having an issue where the slide will lock back for now reason. I know I'm not riding the slide stop, I've had others watch my thumbs and confirmed I am not pushing the slide stop up or touching it in any way. It was fine most of last year, using the same loads (TG to WAC with 10 grn fcp pills. Any idea why this has started now??
  5. So, on Sunday I was able to run thru about 160 rounds from my 8 mags. I had 2 ftfs both with the same mag #3. All the others worked beautifully. I then went back to some old notes from a while back when I was having other issues and it turns out that #3 was the one that I cut off 1 coil (it was suggested by someone) and I never fixed that spring. It now has a full length XP spring. The 2 that I stretched the spring worked beautifully. The other 4 with different front lip widths also worked beautifully. I think my next step will be to get all the lips to a std width and also stretch the springs I have until I can get some Wolff (or other?) XP springs. Thanks guys.
  6. OK, so I've got a coupe of different front widths to test. I've also taken 2 mags and pulled the springs to extend them to at least temporarily provide more tension - getting anything in Canada these days is almost impossible - but if this helps, I can extend the others. Hoping to get out in the next couple of days to test the mag changes. I'm running a 10 lb recoil spring right now, would it make sense to increase or decrease? Is a stronger spring going to "help" the rounds get up the feed ramp, or would a lighter spring give more time for the slide to move and strip the next round?
  7. Thanks. 10 thou wider in the front I presume?
  8. I've made a lot of progress eliminating issues with this gun, but still have a feeding issue. About 1 in 10 rounds will seem to drive into the left hand side of the slide and miss the feed ramp and jam the slide. Pulling back on the slide the round drops free and in most cases the next round will feed no problem. I have done a bunch of polishing including the bottom of the slide and the bottom edge of the breach. Currently running a 10lb recoil spring, but have tried others from 9 - 13 and no real difference. My mags are stock large frame with the GCE base pads. I have a block in the base pad that puts a little more tension on the spring. Mag lips are all at ~.348" at the front. My rounds are 124 Campro RN with ~7.4gr WAC and an OAL of 1.16. I've tried other lengths, but they all seem to have the same issue. Shorter will do this more often it seems. I'm thinking this is a mag issue? Should I try to adjust the lips to try to angle it a touch to the right? Open up the RHS lip and pull in the LHS lip? Any other thoughts?
  9. Thanks for the replies. I've tried a couple of things: 1) bent in the LHS mag lip a few thousands just to be sure there was nothing getting in the way. 2) tried loading out to 1.17 again, more as a process of elimination type thing. Also replaced the slide stop just to be sure. I also put a thin piece of tape on my thumb rest to keep my thumb a little out from the frame. Seems to have stopped after that. I guess somehow I was bending my thumb a little and pushing inward to push up the slide stop without knowing I was even doing it. Odd that I only started doing this now after owning the gun for close to 3 years, but I suppose stranger things have happened.
  10. I just tried that and there seems to be no interference regardless of how far forward the next round is in the mag.
  11. I seem to have developed a new issue with my Tanfo Gold Custom Eric. the short version: it gets locked open randomly before the mag is empty. Pushing the slide stop down releases it and loads the next round. the long version: gun has been running fairly well lately, with main load being wac usually somewhere between 7.2-7.4 gr, using a 124 jrn at 1.162 +/- oal. It started a couple of weeks ago, so gave it a full cleaning and after that didn’t help, I replaced the slide stop. No change. Had a 10.5 lb spring in it, changed it put for 11.5. Made a slight difference, but still had it happen on both 7.2 and 7.4 gr loads. Happens on all my mags. I have a thumb rest, so thumb is nowhere near slide stop. I’m at a loss to figure out what’s causing this or even what to try next. Even heavier spring to try to get the slide back forward quicker?
  12. Might be a dumb question, but is there any advantage to, or can you even, roll size nickel plated cases? I get a lot of brass /nickel sourced from local LEOs who seem to love their nickel, and also use Glocks. I generally haven't been using it for my Open gun, but was thinking of trying some.
  13. Sorry to resurrect, but what was the ultimate fix for the feed issue?? Also what recoil spring are you running (once fixed)?
  14. Anything longer than oal of 1.155 gets stuck in the chamber. Haven't had a chance to get any ream work done to it (nor should I need to really...)
