  1. @ChuckS Brilliant - thanks!!
  2. @ChuckS Here you go! https://practiscore.com/results/new/141930?q_individual=mmShooter_3538420 The other shooters in my squad all posted properly.
  3. Does anyone have any idea why my Final Score in Practiscore wouldn’t calculate - but my raw score and penalties are both posted? The data is accurate — but instead of a final score, it just says “0”. (And, no - I didn’t get DQ’d. ) This is my first match in almost 15 years and I was pretty happy with my score…but not the zero! Thanks!
  4. My Beretta PX4 is almost enough to steal me away from my Matt Mink SP-01 (which is now sporting the Steve Bedair guide rod -- thanks!) The PX4 is an incredibly smooth shooter -- if my son hadn't claimed it for his own I might have to give it a try. For now, I'll stick with my CZ -- but Beretta really has a winner in the Storm! Jim
  5. My son has started shooting my PX4 in Production instead of a Glock 17. He likes it much better. If he hadn't stolen it from me, I might be persuaded to switch from my CZ SP-01 Tactical (although it is a very nice gun!). I saw a couple of Berettas at the York PA Summer Blast this weekend. We had a guy in our squad (a B-class shooter) using his 92FS. I think most people get scared off by the heavy trigger pull (nothing a D-spring can't fix!) and the Glock mentality. Personnally, I hardly notice the DA pull (maybe it's the adrenaline from the buzzer!) and my Beretta's have been 100% reliable. Jim
  6. My son and I shot the match on Friday. It was our first Summer Blast and only my son's 4th match. I have to echo what everyone else has said about the quality of the match and the great work by all the staff, RO's, etc. We really enjoyed getting to see some top shooters like Dave Sevigny, Scott Warren and Todd Sindelar shoot. I think next year we'll have to plan in some extra time to see some more! Jim
  7. Hmm...very tempting. I may have to get some once Angus has them back in stock. Stuart, what's with all the muzzle wear on your SP01? That looks pretty excessive compared to anything I've experienced. Is that just normal wear and tear? BTW, great pics! You're going to start giving Dr. Lunde a run for his money! Jim
  8. I put reduced power hammer springs in my P89 and P93 and they did lighten up the action some. Still pretty heavy, though, compared to most of my other pistols. I tried the HiViz fiber optic front sight, too. The smallest dot size is still too big for the notch in the rear sight, so you have to come up with a funky way to align your sight picture to get consistent hits. As much as I like my Rugers, the lack of aftermarket support is definitely a downer! Jim
  9. My 16-yr old son wants to start shooting with me. I was going to sign him up online for a membership but then I saw the statement you have to click that says "According to the legal requirement of the United States are you able to purchase and possess firearms? " Well, the answer for him is "no". But I also didn't see anywhere to specify that this is a membership for a junior member. Also, I assume that you just sign kids up as an associate member? I didn't see any special category for juniors. Has anyone registered their kids online -- and does it work? I can see this getting rejected when it gets processed. Thanks for any insights! Jim
  10. Unless Tripp had to do something with the sight when they chromed the pistol for you.... As far as the screw, why not call King's Gun Works and ask them? I found them to be very helpful when I ordered my sights and hammer. Jim
  11. Waah...waah...waah! I missed this year and it looks like I'll be underway next year if it falls on the weekend of 15 July. It's just not fair!!! (Unless Larry wants to make it June 29 - July 1 next year.....) *sigh* Jim
  12. I haven't used their holster but I like their double mag pouches. They adjust easily and hold the magazines fine. It makes it hard to justify paying BladeTech prices when the Uncle Mike's works! Jim
  13. I had the same problem with my P228 -- the slide stop lever is just in the wrong place for a high grip with thumbs forward. Rather than try to change how I hold the gun, I just got rid of the Sig. Frankly, I didn't find it to be that great a shooter anyway - so it didn't break my heart. I think you run into a danger if you start modifying your grip based on what pistol you're shooting. I want my grip to be universal...I'll make other adjustments for aim, recoil, muzzle flip, etc. Just my $0.02... Jim
  14. I went with the black competition sights from Angus and I'm very happy. No fiber -- just a regular front sight. The width is just right and the sight picture is very easy to acquire. Either way, the competition sights are the way to go on the CZ! Jim
  15. I've really fallen in love with my CZ 75BD for Production. I started out with my Beretta 92G Vertec and switched to the CZ. I like it so much, that I think I'm going to get an SP-01 Tactical (which will also work for Limited or Lim10). Very accurate, very stable (for me)...a great shooter. Jim
  16. I'm clearly in the minority, but I have nothing but good things to say about my P99's. I use the P99C as my daily carry gun. My full size P99 is a dream to shoot and extremely accurate. The reset on the SA trigger is short and easy to manage. Muzzle flip on the full size is pretty minimal, more noticeable on the compact. As far as the mag release, it's a matter of training. Lots of people can't get their mind around a release that's different -- so they never warm up to it. Lack of aftermarket accesories is about the only thing I could knock. Otherwise, it's a very accurate, reliable and comfortable pistol. Jim
  17. Thanks for all the advice. I ended up using my Dremel with the spiral bit. It was kind of like using a roto-tool on wood or drywall. The bit did melt the Kydex, so the edges came out pretty smooth. I dressed them up with a conical sander and it turned out pretty nice. Now I have enough clearance to get the gun out without having to draw it all the way up. A pretty good solution for now! Jim
  18. I recently picked up an older Blade-Tech holster for my CZ 97B. The front of the holster is solid, not "relieved" to provide for quicker clearance from the holster. It looks like it would be easy enough to cut a notch to make it match the front profile of a Stingray or DOH holster. Here's my question: what's the easiest/best way to cut Kydex? Dremel tool? By hand? Using heat? I've never tried it before but I don't want to screw up a usable holster by experimenting. If anyone has any experience, I'd appreciate your recommendations. Thanks! Jim
  19. I don't have a 96, but I'm guessing they're pretty close to the 92. If you haven't seen it, here's a great resource for disassembling the pistol: http://www.beretta92fs.com/ I actually bought the DVD -- it's well done and a great resource. Hope this helps, Jim
  20. I had a 9.872 HF (100 pts, 10.13 sec) in Production two weeks ago at our local match. The score just got posted on the USPSA website and that came out to 59.329%. It was enough to bump me up from D Class to C Class! Jim
  21. That's one of the biggest challenges about Production (and Limited 10) - factoring the reloads into your stage strategy. Half the stages I've shot wouldn't have been nearly as challenging (or fun) if it was just "hose fest". I guess everyone is different, but I prefer the challenge of having to develop a total plan. It has to be part of your "visualization" or the stage won't be successful.
  22. You could always get a CZ 75 in .40 and shoot L10 instead... Jim
  23. Since the Steyrs are on the USPSA approved Production Handgun list - and the trapezoidal sights are factory standard - then I'm guessing the answer is "yes. Jim
  24. Jeff - I have the PX 4 and I love it. It's probably the most accurate out-of-the-box shooter I've handled. I need to get a holster for mine so I can use it in a production match. Unfortunately BladeTech is still running about 5 weeks delivery time! I did order the stealth controls from David and installed them. I definitely prefer the G-model (personal preference on any of my guns). Installation was easy and the controls are definitely less pronounced. I really didn't mind the take up on the trigger -- although I tend to be a little insensitive to that anyway. The trigger itself is pretty crisp. I've been in and out a lot, but if I can make it to a match at Shooters' I'll bring it along. I had a buddy try it last week down in Norfolk and he fell in love with it instantly! Hope this helps, Jim
  25. Installing the "D" hammer spring alone will make a huge difference in your Beretta. I have a 92G Vertec and the difference is night and day. I did the same thing with my M9 (although I don't use that for USPSA.) The Wolff 16# spring is a close (and suitable) substitute for the Beretta D spring. Other than that, I shoot my 92G stock and it runs just fine. It's a fine choice for production. Jim
