  1. Hey All,

Just got some sample packs of Blue Bullet 125 Truncated and Round Nose, .356  Dia

Looking for some good recipes and OAL for each.

Not looking for soft &  min PF, looking for accur.

Shooting a SPO1 using TightGroup powder.

    Thanks!

  2. I've tried several different brands...Gallant, SNS, Blues  and personally for the games I shoot USPSA and IDPA I don't think the accuracy is much different to make me pick one over the other, just depends on what runs good through your gun and cost...how much do you like to shoot.??

I started with Blues, and went back them. Can't beat them for the price, their customer service has been excellent for me, and they support our shooting sports.

  3. Did the same thing myself this year.  Shot a 34 for the last 2 years, and picked up a SPO1 Custom for USPSA and IDPA.  I have 4 matches under my belt with it and absolutely love it.

The more I shoot it the more comfortable and confident  I get with it and now the DA is no issue at all.

I too have the Thin Lok gripes and love them.

Been shooting 147 gr Blue Bullet Flat nose in the Glock and now the CZ with zero issues with 3.2 grains of TG with a OAL of 1.135.

Wishing I made the switch sooner.

  4. Just a thought.

Ever think about  a CZ...I also shot a 34 for two years wanted something new and was contemplating a STI but to be honest I have heard that their quality has been suffering and have seen it personally my self with a few not running well. With the cost of the mags alone, plus and all the other equipment you will need to replace..holster, mag carriers and such a lot of money to invest.  I ended up getting a SPO1 from the custom shop, (wanted a gun I can shoot IDPA and USPSA with)  and just my opinion I think the trigger is the next best thing to a 1911/2011 trigger from a "Stock" gun. MecGar mags are only $28.00 from midway and I haven't looked back since.  If you know someone with a Tactical in 40 give it a whirl. You can get everything you need and still be under 2 G's.

With that said and money is not an issue...buy what makes you happy!!!!

  5. Our local club requires all new shooters to take a safety class, usually lasts about 4 hours and they pretty much cover all the basics of proper gun handling and aspects of a match.

They ask that you bring your firearm and equipment (No Ammo) and at the end will  run you through procedures...load and make ready, reloads with fingers out of the guard and such, and then they observe the match that is going on. They do not shoot on this day. Once they have completed the course they are a go to sign up for matches.

  6. This could kinda go a few different ways, especially for a Level 1.

First off if the RO running the shooter, who is the closest to the shooter didn't see it, and the RO/scorekeeper only "thinks" he saw it no DQ...just a warning.

If it was a blatant violation then most of the squad would have seen it and someone would have or should have yelled Stop.

That being said we all may know at least  one RO or  SO  whether they are new or on the down slope who happen to miss calls or are just too lenient  on making the calls and if you have a squad with a bunch of new shooters then I might be ok with a SO watching from the back make the call, but I agree they should be talked to and get a re-shoot.

I know for sure nobody likes to have a squad of 8 and 6 of them act like range lawyers...drives me crazy.

We did just however had situation where the SO was new, just started  running shooters and the shooter was brand new, first match ever. Starting position was facing up range, on the buzzer turn and draw.

This shooter was facing up range and instead of the SO telling him to "turn and  face the berm" load and make ready, the SO gave the command "Shooter load and make ready" he pulled his gun out and pointed it at the whole squad and just about got his mag in before the entire squad yelled STOP!  I do believe we scared the crap out of both of them. It was so loud the MD heard it and came over to find out what was going on.

Really?  With 3.7 I am at 138pf, and 1080 fps with a SD of 6 or so.  This seems like it would be pretty efficient, and if I up the charge I am over 140pf easy.

The bore isn't what is getting dirty it is the rest of the gun.  Thick carbon and sludge after 5 to 10k.  I don't clean guns often, but if I can find a cleaner powder that makes my life easier that is what I want.

Wow, that's a lot  of rounds between cleaning, may be able to get away with it with a Glock with little oil / lube in it...CZ not so much.

I use to shoot "new" Freedom 147's before I started reloading and whatever they used was very dirty, could see it all over the end of the slide and barrel after 50 rounds.

Don't see it with my Blue's and tightgroup.

I will do a quick wipe down and swab the barrel after each session / match ...5 to 10 min  at most.

I'll do a really deep clean normally  after the shooting season wraps up around here in Dec or Jan.

Waiting 5 to 10K,  you are making the cleaning way too hard on yourself.

  8. Yes, the Mikes and no shoots are killing you. For now do NOT try and emulate the other shooters especially the really good one's, it will not end well. Just concentrate on learning the game.

You "Don't know what you Don't know".  Practice a lot of Dry Fire working on grip and sight picture. Only shoot as fast as the sights allow you to shoot, shoot when you have a acceptable sight pic. The speed will come with time. Good Luck and have fun!
