  1. LOL,, but those not practicing cant shoot guys win classes... because the people that practice shooting do great at classifiers that have nothing to do with running. Oh and I am basically busting chops,, I dont think classifiers line up well with matches. Because clubs usually set up the non movement short ones... but eh the game changed. People cry when matches have hard shots, ( just read some threads) MD's build what fills matches...
  2. yeh back when limited was a main division there were lots of threads on mag capacity.. usually referred to as "X" reloadable... with a 32 round max, and generally 19-23 round starts, reloading with more than 19 wasnt needed. Reloadable meant you could easily seat it.. Generally that was 1 round down..
  3. they only do it, because people allow it. Kinda like sales,, raise the price then mark it off, or the car dealer,, "It wont last long" But yeh, the people that dont play along do without.. but usually you didnt need it anyways
  4. not really, vast majority of members dont shoot majors,, again, just more survivor bias... Guys who can shoot, but not run, simply dont go to majors. Might still enjoy and be active in the sport.. But even then, probably still wont go to majors. I mean if people are happy who cares,, but if the class system is to be accurate, then matches and whatever system you use should be similar. I mean,, class is a goal in itself for alot of people,, kinda a 1 man match to measure yourself against.. In that case its calibration isnt all that important.. but lets not kid ourselves its representative of match performance. Hvae to look and see how match bumps work, been awhile.. but even then most people dont shoot majors.. Also,,, I think alot of people just look at overall anyways at the club level.. Why if I shoot USPSA, I'll just shoot my iron sight XDM in a Open,, just to enjoy peoples heads explode.
  5. I remember going to Vegas nationals,, I checked my scores each day... If I had another day woulda done better.. My scores shot up each day.... Pretty obvious who partied hardy and were hungover and dehydrated on day 2 and 3. It wasnt excessive hot, but I think alot of people underestimated the dry air and dehydration effect.. I arrived a day early and stayed 2 days over... Had a blast by the way.. was sad to see it move away from Vegas.
  6. point I have been making for decade, survivor bias... Clubs pick shooting challenge, low round count classifiers,, (or multi string) then build track meet hose fest stages.. with easy shooting but much more movement. Its what it is.. Not knocking the stages, obviously it is catering to folks that enjoy it.. If you are going to score people by class at matches , then those classes should be set by matches or simulated match conditions.. Unless things have drastically changed, that simply isnt the case. Do they still use major performance as classifier ? dont recall, does classification keep your highest scores or most recent for use leveling up ?
  7. retired Army I can get a pair of BC"s for free every year, so I tried mutiple things.. front sight focus right lense distance left... just plain all distance focus.. And for me, basic distance focus in both lenses worked the best dots and irons.
  8. up to 24,,, what 13-24 IIRC ? So I was counting on 1 or 2 lower mediums.. Which reminds me. The year I shot USPSA nationals was surprised how few reloads I made shooting limited with 22 round mags. Rescomp tubes, bolen guts U die..
  9. you mentioned reloads,, I am assuming on the clock. You may not even want to bother with 38 special cases. 38 short colt brass is readily available from Starline. I load to 125pf for Icore. with 147 gr bullets over AA2.. Dont recall a steel issue.
  10. 3 short 2 medium 1 long.. Sooo minimum half of courses and maybe 5 out of 6 no reloads..
  11. was gonna bring that up to RJH... the people fall where they should isnt proof system is ok, its proof of survivor bias. IE the people that the classifiers dont work for quit the sport or go to another division and sandbag down 1 if thats still a thing. When I got out of it, the classifiers had didly squat to do with matches. Classifiers tended to be shooting challenges, matches were running challenges.
  12. looks interesting, several years ago I shot pins and there was a carbine division. Seems he who could get his 45 carbine to run 5 times in a row won.. The 9's ran, but didnt clear table... If I had stayed I might have looked at a Berretta 40.. their 9's worked
  13. If you have Fed or CCI SPP and want to load major you could probably trade them at a premium for small rifle, spm, or sp from a harder brand
  14. production should have just gone to a box, or mag length rule when AWB sunset.. The best most fun for the game is a high capacity 9mm gun. Also the most common platform in the world.. Ridiculous USPSA has never had a division that suits it. the 15 round thing is a stupid half measure that will accomplish nothing.,, So really without a division rule change I think irons are done.
  15. I never got my non ramped 9mm to run on anything but FMJ,, may or may not be a big deal to you.. Ran winchester whitebox, and similar reloads just fine though... I never had a gunsmith, local or other wise not destroy my guns.. even one recommended on here. Simple sight install completely butchered 2 Hipowers. I cant even look at them. so I either do it myself or it doesnt get done. Your top end may or may not fit. frame probably wont be exactly the same and you may end up with lock up issues. Id sell the frame as is,, no ramped 45 acp is easier to deal with,, World has moved on to STI style frames, and para parts are getting hard to come by.
  16. yeh,,, thinking you could create the same challenge by putting the no shoot or shoots, up range of the steel, Shot a match at and semi indoor stage, the large poppers were non falling no shoots.,, with paper browns behind, and partial visiable above.. Loudest GONG !!!!!!!!!! in the world hitting those things. pew pew , pew pew,,, pew GONGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. more like 80,,, glad they work for you, mine didnt nor will I ever own another. zero use for them anyways.
  18. LOL,,, yeh my thoughts,, if it was a score, the shooter would want it.
  19. because they turn into two pieces while you are shooting. STI, rock island, ed brown,, everyone I ever tried would unscrew.. Wont own a gun with one.. solution to a nonexistent problem. Never had an issue getting a GI type, or a 1 piece design to work.
  20. not even close. Serious ? You go shoot a 10 round 9mm in limited,, let me know how it pans out.
  21. LOL,,, prank from my school days,,, set an extra part or bolts on someones rebuild table
  22. "eliminate a presumption that the hole was caused by a ricochet or splatter." I feel thats the key part of 9.5.5 you would have to use the angles,,, If the edge of the steel and the weird/ enlarged etc hole was in a more or less straight line from where the shooter was standing its a hit.. if its off at an angle its not... Admittedly could leave some grey, but I think ,my reasoning combined with 9.1.6.3 would hold up in arbitration.
  23. not getting into that,, I never saw enough difference, but that has been hashed out ... Was referng to IVC's comment that LO was to CO as Limited was to production...
  24. humm said its stock but then list mods and aftermarket parts.... LOL.. I am thinking maybe an angle got buggered up,, Or as is sometimes the case messing with MIM parts, you get past the surface hardening and part buggers itself up with a bit of wear.
  25. they are both minor scored, slide mounted optic, 140mm mag divisions.. whats the difference ? a hair shorter trigger reset and a mag funnel in a 25 round gun ? Thats a far cry from the difference between production and limited...
