  1. scroll down said forum,, the information is posted many times,, but as you are set on powder and bullet you just need a manual
  2. look in the reloading section.. Look at a burn rate chart, pretty much anything from E-3 to unique will make decent 9mm minor ammo. SHooters worlds powders havent taken off in price yet, I stocked up on Accurate 2 / and clean shot.. which is as good as any and better than most.
  3. that was my thoughts as well. COps dont even do anything about actual crimes when you call. Somehow I dont see this being recorded anywhere, past whoever answers the phone saying ,,"thanks"
  4. not watching the video,, but I agree with the politicians.. Not because its a foriegn firm,,, but because its a firm already in the business. We used to have anti monopoly laws and enforcement in this country. Too much consolidation is a bad thing for consumers. Look at the price of powder now that Hodgdon owns almost everything.. Same with primers,, almost all under one roof
  5. you must not own rim fires.. its not the breaking of the pin, but dry firing will very much peen the side of the chamber and it doesnt take much.. I agree with the bag thing,, when carbines were allowed they shoulda just made a few edits and made trigger guard covering case, the same as a trigger guard covering holster..
  6. cheap experiemt, pick up the UMC green box remington 147's They are easy to come by and one of the cheaper 9mm ammo out there. Shoot em against your 124's.. they are loaded to about same power factor,, probably 135 ish
  7. ah,,, yeh I started strong hand reloading,, but noticed all the cool kids did weak hand,, took me a bit to unlearn strong (right for me) then get smoother with weak hand.. Once I got the knack for it, it does seem to have less steps and will be a bit faster.. Probably would be really good at it if I had actually practiced since oct..
  8. well back when we all shot cast bullets, folks would go with conventional rifled Glock barrels.. But in the OPs case,, DId you get a base line of how the gun shot stock ? In a modern auto loader design consistency in the relationship between the barrel and the sights have the biggest affect... You changed the slide and the barrel,, Probably ended up with stacked tolerances.. Barrel to frame, slide to barrel,
  9. I dunno, so then you are runnign with the cylinder flopping everywhere ? I dont see me ever doing much of a runnign reload with a revolver. Not as much movement in ICORE,
  10. check Lee's websight they have powder scoops and bushing type powder measures that dispence in Cubic Cnetimeters. Their websight has a chart that will tell you how many grs per CC.. Will let you compare the relative size of powders per gr of weight to each other. Lets see of the powders I hear people using for 9 major HS6 and Win auto comp and 3n 38 will tak eup less room for same weight.. Probably why they became popular when th eworld moved from 38 super to 9mm See if this chart works.. Bigger number means less room per grain.. https://leeprecision.com/files/instruct/VMD.pdf
  11. I would think it too fast for 9 major.. Looking around it seems like it was its own thing, I woulda guessed it was a Lovex powder that could be had under a shooters world brand now... But now that Hodgdon owns everything, you will probably see alot of consolidation and some powders get dropped, and as we are seeing prices get jacked,, Buy out the competition, shut them down, raise prices. HS6 is a pretty fine grained powder and seems to be readily available and common for 9 major loads.
  12. Need to make up some dummy rounds and moon clips,, I am fairly new to Icore and speed reloading revolvers. I am an accurate fast shooter. I am a slow mover, always have been. Was pointed out to me, I should be doing more moving during reloads.. Alot more fine motor skills going on with a revolver, I tend to load then move.. Motosapiens brought up a good point though... Put it on a shot timer,, try it a couple different ways. WOuld be an easy drill to set up at my home range.. I did force myself to swithc to a weak hand reload,, while initially slower I think it has protentional to be faster in long run. Far as auto loaders ? I was at Black water watching Todd Jarret shoot the breeze,, and he could be standng there talking to you making jokes not even looking at his gun and nailing reloads faster than his dropped mag hit the ground.
  13. sounds more like a high primer issue.. Excessive cylinder gap/ play would be more likely to cause light strikes I would think
  14. I thought about magna porting my flat side 627 4" but not sure if it can be done on a flat side,, or if Id really gain anything. With the whole revolver thing having to revolve between shots, the generally heavy guns, and 120 pf , I cant much benifit that helps on the score board
  15. at 130 pf you are kinda at a point of diminishing returns.. Probably simply better off just using a fast powder and a 124 -147 gr bullet.. That and hold on to the gun..
  16. I kinda found the opposite.. So many people dont bother to open a book and post data that people quit buying the books,, So publishers made less money and didnt bother putting as much effort into them. I have bought a couple new books and frankly they suck compared to older ones. Just alot less data. Probably also a situation of consolidation,, instead of having lots of companies making lots of products everything has consolidated... So one company throws a book out and its take it or leave it. I mean Hodgdon now has Hodgdon, Win, Western, Accurate, IMR,, probably more.. Whats left Alliant and VV I think.
  17. pretty much,, bell enough bullet doesnt fall out when I rotate shell plate,, crimp enough it doesnt set back when I push on it.. Or the slight ring thing. failure to feed isnt going to have anything to do with crimp in a 9mm. Unless it is flared so bad its catching on the ramp or jamming in the magazine. You might be talking about failure to chamber,, which tends to be caused by bullet shape / length issue. You need to find the max OAL for any given bullet and gun combo and ensure you stay short of that. Can also be caused by bullet being crimped by seater before it is fully seated so its being pushed back and slightly bulging the brass. People lump the first 2 and last 2 together all the time, 2 different actions, different problems.. Even better the often post something like my gun has FTE's umm ok which E ?
  18. yeh I call BS on that one.. Even if it was true the velocities would vary randomly not climb... Your sizer is worn out/ too big, or need a crimp adjustment.. You are getting bullet setback with the jacketed load.
  19. I have no issues loading coated 358 coated bullets into 38 short colt using a regular dillon 9mm powder funnel. Have also loaded all the other things u listed with regular die and dillon funnel/ flare thing.. SO what is or what does a M die do ?
  20. Iload on a 550 so only 4 stations... Flare with the dillon powder drop/die.. Seat with a seater, then crimp with a crimper.. I have no idea what an M die does, But seating and crimping on one station is a royal pain
  21. no but I have gone to the range to shoot because I needed empty brass.. At one time componenets were so cheap, even if it was a bit more it wasnt enough to worry about so I simply reloaded 9mm.. With the rise of mail order bulk ammo cutting out alot of middle men, even before covid it was just easier to order bulk 9mm.. Granted I didnt shoot alot of 9mm. My step son wanted me to teach him to reload, looked at the price of powder primer and bullets, and case price of ammo and it really wasnt worth it. I save my componenets for the stuff where it savers alot to load, or factory ammo just doesnt work out. remington bulk 147's seem to run pretty well and are my preferd 9mm loads.
  22. I had loaded alot of 40's on lee dies, but decided I needed to upgrade and bought a Dillon set.. End result was a seat die thrown in the swamp.. I never could get it to work correctly. I would get failure occassional failure to chamber which would dang near lock up gun. Best I could tell is it was somehow deflaring and grabbing the bullet before it was fully seated and causing a slight flare.. And this was suppossed to be a seat only die but I dont think it is,,, I backed it out lowered stem,, yadda yadda,, and still had issues with my ammo.. I finally chucked it and put the Lee back in and problem stopped
  23. in that case why would you want cleaner ejection,, now you gotta bend over and pick em all up..
  24. ok now i gotta ask why ? If you have an old long colt revolver it would take short ammo that is readily available. If its for matches using a SWC defeats the purpose of the shorter case as far as reload speed. Ad if you just want target ammo,, why not just load it in 38 ? Oh and you will probably end up swaging the lead or bulging the brass if you cut down 38's... many get a bit thicker as you go down.
  25. I think you will need a 38 super seat/ crimp..
