  1. Always push the limits, Id rather walk away from a stage with 2 mikes and a hit on a no shoot knowing I gave it my all and shot to win, then walk away knowing I could have tried harder. But yeh never have a plan, dont do this dont do that,, always have a plan of Do's.
  2. Emotions aside, 2009 Production nationals top 16 shooters, Only one XD and that was being used by a guy paid to shoot it. Glocks are most common, with M&P's rapidly gaining ground.
  3. Look at the guns in the winners circle, they arnt either of your picks. 5 inch gun is always better for USPSA, faster follow up, longer sight radius makes a big difference. Shooting at Koko head cant warp your perspective, Great matches but the range is small so distances are on the short side of what you will see on the mainland. If you really like the XD, find a 5 inch, If I was starting in production I would go with a S&W M&P five inch 9mm, If I could get used to the Glock angle i would go with the 5+ inch 9 also.
  4. 11 pounds is alot closer to 400 rounds not 250., weigh some of your loads, 7000 grs to the pound, when the airline asks just say, "just under 11lbs."
  5. I havent shot it in awhile but last time I chronoed WWB 115's it came in at 1080, sub minor, supposedly Remington value pack is even slower but I have never chronoed it. 4 out of 109 ? I saw that many on a single squad once, 3 admitted they had never chronoed the loads, My ammo was right on what it gets at home and a couple majors.
  6. Did that with squirrels and groundhogs all the time, usually soaked em over night in the fridge.
  7. The RO's recert every year and my guess is that this particular rule is not in the pool of possible questions for recertification so it is unknown to many RO's and so not enforced. Spelling it out in the WSB would help jog the RO's memory and maybe the stage designer could stress it at the shooters meeting. Other shooters could bring it up at the reading of the WSB on the stage. Pat Thats not really workable, we have a rule book, this is one rule of many, Should match directors stand up and recite the entire rule book before a match ?
  8. Buying a new one is the A-1 absolute best way to guarantee you will immediately find it.
  9. Really gonna depend on ur state laws, The general idea is buyer sends money, and a signed copy of a FFL, you take that copy to FedEX or UPS and ship the gun to the address on the FFL not the buyer. I would look up the FFL first to make sure it's legit. There is a bit of trust that goes on. Sellers that assume everyone is a crook I feel like are probably crooks themselves. I have seen sellers overly concerned about payment methods that I just cancel the transaction. Trust is a 2 way street. The buyer has to trust the seller to send the item, the seller has to trust the buyer not to send phoney money. Insisting on a money order doesnt do much good they can be forged just like checks. Credit cards seem to be best if you are set up to accept them, as they give some fraud protection to both parties, I always accept personal checks and wont buy from someone that wont take mine, If it is being bought by a BE'er that has been around awhile I sometimes ship the item on there word that the check is in the mail, or after I get it, Face to face is so much easier.
  10. What game were you playing ? In USPSA thats a range equipment failure and The RO was supposed to stop you and make you reshoot. Plates that dont fall when hit are REF.
  11. So whats rule number 4 ? Money is a factor but I have priced it out and it isnt a factor ? umm I'm confused. Dillon has the largest market share because it is the best machine, the best No BS warranty, a reloader that answers the phone, I personally prefer it because of the features you have chosen to exclude from your questions,
  12. Why dont more competitors know the rule ? Everyone gets a rule book. Point it out before the first shooter starts. I bet the people acting in this manner probably do know the rule. Sometimes you just see poorly written WSB's, the designer means facing up range but if he doesnt use those exact words the definition doesnt apply. A Start that says "standing in box toes on x's," (x's on uprange side of box) is NOT an uprange start and if I wanna turn to face target I can as long as my toes are on the X's.
  13. 6 inch gun and Moly ? WST is the way to go. The 6 inch barrel can give you more velocity but you have to use a slightly slower powder to get it. With TG and 320 both are too fast to pick up any extra velocity. Super fast powders arnt quite the best route with moly as you found out.
  14. wore out/ weak recoil spring ? take slide and barrel off gun, load magazine look and see if bullets are dragging on ejector, Check feedlips area of magazines for rust or burrs, bout all I can guess without seeing it.
  15. First rule of gun modifications: Always adjust the cheap part to fit the expensive part, not the other way around. Your barrel is fine, the problem is your reloading dies, or technique. Check OAL first. I had same problem with a Dillon seating die, The combo on my 550 is Dillon size, dillon powder, Lee seat, and Lee factory crimp die. Alot of people like the LEE/EGW U die on station one, But to answer your original question, yes you can polish the inside of the chamber for slight imperfections, or ream it if it truely too tight. Which brings us to rule Number 2 of gun mods, There is no problem that cant be made worse by a Dremmil. Seriosly if factory loads chamber and run the issue is the ammo.
  16. Its the powder,,, IMR 4198, is big long sticks of powder trying to go in an itty bitty case mouth. Try a finer grain powder,, WW748 seems to be real popular with AR shooters.
  17. Joe4d

    P14 Trigger

I have been pretty happy with Dlask (titanium I think) in Paras never had any length issues, Took alot longer to polish, did you also polish the trigger track in the frame ? lots of Para finish goo in that area if I recall.
  18. Get ya a cap and ball revolver and open carry in a flap holster noone will notice, they work just as well today as 150 years ago,,,,
  19. oh and dont buy the Universal,,, it really isnt, and it isnt very well suited for much of anything, too slow for non comped guns, too fast for comped guns, What is your intended application ?
  20. the front sight for a Millet adjustable is about that height, You can also buy a square blank and shape it yourself. What kinda rear are you planning on using
  21. Actually I would expect my AD to take credit for new clubs, as I expect him/her to actively seek getting new club off the ground, and makes me a single issue voter in Area representation. Some areas dont have this issue but I live in a huge black hole in a large population center in the most gun friendly state in the Area. The thinking process for change needs to take into account basic steps, Significance,,,, is the problem significant. Inherency, is the problem inherent to the system and does something need to change it, Solvency, will the sugested change actually fix the original problem. Other than the principle of numbers to rep, I still havent seen anything leading me to believe this is a significant problem.
  22. As long as the discussion stays with internal and external balistics it's fine, Terminal balistic get into a grey area, I have loaded great 3006 ammo with Lee dies, I actually started with the lee loader that used a malet in stead of a press, still worked great, If you are loading a 22-24 inch ish bolt gun 4350 is by far the way to go, I'd also look at 165 gr bullets especially the Hornady interlocks, great bullets without paying a ton of money,,, I usually load about .04 off the lands , a little oal adjustment can make a world of difference.
  23. In the before time, in the long long ago, there were only two guns in town, the 8 round 45 1911 the Americans shot, and the 14 round Browning Hipower the rest of the world shot, Major Minor was set up for 45 and 9mm ball ammo, If you look at the early IPSC Nationals you'll see an any given Sunday spread with the guns, right up until somebody came up with a higher capacity Major gun. Since then minor isnt competitive. Your 9/40 decision is really a Production/Limited decision. Although .40 makes a great minor production gun.
  24. I settled on McCormick 10mm Shooting Star magazines, actually I think half are metal form tubes with the shooting star spring board metal follower and spring. You can buy that spring and follower and retro fit other 10mm mags. Tripps didnt work in my gun and the 45 mags I tried didnt hold the bullets in. Metal form 10 round 40 mags were ok with factory ammo, We load 40 ammo to longer length because many 1911/2011's run better on a length the gun was designed around. Some people do it just because everyone elses is, some do it to have room for fast powders to minimize recoil and flash but still make powerfactor. And some (like me) do it because we dont want to maintain multiple ammo supplies and pick a length that works in everything.
  25. It is gonna be oversized like pretty much every 1911 product on the market so it can be fit to all the different frames,, You will probably have to dress the diameter and the left side of the catch to prevent magazine bind from over pushing unless your gonna use the oversize button also.
