  1. Agree that POV camera is of little training value. With that said, my Polaroid cube setup was cheap and works fine. 1440 cube is like $90 and weights nothing. Amazon has multiple head straps / hat clips etc. I bought it because it was lighter and cheaper than go pro. The new ClipShot app is something I can’t wait to try. It runs off your phone and starts at RO start tone, records splits and then shows all splits as you go in margin of video. You can have a squad mate record you and it really underscores areas of improvement. Will embed video when I figure this site out.
  2. Cool. Enjoyed the 3 gun podcast, which had some good nuggets in it.
  3. Just had third kid so I am in same boat. I dryfire a lot and mostly shoot convenient nighttime indoor practice and matches for now.
  4. It’s definitely worth it in the long run but I knew the payback would be a while given my low(ish) volume. I happen to like reloading. Would probably do it just to tinker and have reliable food for my limited gun.
  5. Fair point. When I called Dillon for initial order they recommended it for sure (so I could keep running). What are most likely parts to break?
  6. [TL/DR: table at bottom] I just installed the last two accessories on my Dillon 650 and I think I’m pretty much good to go after 6 months of reloading. This forum was very helpful for me as a new reloaded so I thought I’d share this info for people trying to get into it....just saw one such inquiry minutes ago. This list is grouped by level of need and then most to least expensive...highly subjective I know. It’s just one man’s opinion! If you buy the green items labeled “Base Machine” you can load ammunition if you acquire components (powder, primers and brass). It might be slow going and unsafe but you could make a round of ammunition. I would call the blue additions “necessities” either for safety or logistical reasons. Yelow are highly recommended “priority upgrades” that we can debate & add to here. Orange entires are creature comforts and case prep items to re-use brass and save more money. Also for those suffering from sticker shock, the “rounds to cover” is a hypothetical payback assuming you can save about $.115 per round. I load 40, so YMMV. Tell your wife you will reload an obscure cartridge and save 70% per round.
  7. I was in your boat late last year. Got the 650 totally set up now and love it. I’ll post a detailed spreadsheet later tonight.
  8. It will....or they will make it right.
  9. I shoot exclusively indoors at a modern range where the lighting is very good. However this post and others like it make me wonder if I could be better at seeing arc of recoil / shot calling if I were outdoors. And of course I have no outdoor experience to compare to. Is the problem brightness / lumens or is natural light just intangiblly better?
  10. Given that you didn’t over adjust the trigger, I’m pretty sure that your connector is out of spec. It should angle away from the trigger housing about an eighth of an inch at the edge where it crosses off the housing. Compare the factory connector / trigger housing to the Zev / dot. I bet it’s flatter on the trigger housing so it isn’t being engaged by the trigger bar. These are stamped parts that never see a human hand...it happens.
  11. Oops. I have heard from wise men about the concept of “over aiming” and I improved my groups a lot by changing my focus. Stay with me...people who are trying really hard tend to rush the trigger when the perfect sight picture / alignment is present and as a result they disturb the perfection they sought. 1 aim the gun 2 stop aiming the gun 3 relax and make a smooth trigger press The sight picture / alignment is surprisingly forgiving. The press is not.
  12. Isn’t freestyle at 25 yards a more practical (pun intended) proficiency to test? I guess classifiers test strong / weak accuracy but you don’t really see it at higher level matches, right?
  13. Awesome shooting. I know that you are tempted to tell people that you beat Max Michel....and leave it there. Or was he 1st?
  14. My longer 40 Limited loads wouldn’t gauge in my LE Wilson so I got the hundo xl. $100 at Ben Stoeger pro shop Love it. Saves time and transfers right into a Dillon ammo box. Worth the coin to me.
  15. This thread is gonna cost me money!
  16. LOL. Haven’t had it long and going to range this weekend! Assume that was a Wolf of Wallstreet pull. Great movie, scene, meme and quote. I use it often!
  17. I bet all three are comparable in quality but maybe customer service & ownership could be a tie breaker. I just bought a Titan Limited gun in 40 (of course). Had no experience with the platform as a former glock guy. I PM’ed Adam a newby question (too embarrassing to write here) at 6:50 pm on a Friday evening the day I brought it home and Adam called me by 7pm to answer it. Not a shred of irritation or condescension in his voice. He just flat out wants to produce the best guns in he world and make his customers happy. They always seem to be pushing the envelope / chasing excellence. I’ve never seen someone so devoted to his product and the shooting sports. He’s the real deal...shoots local matches during Vermont winters (11 degrees), posts proprietary knowledge on YouTube so we can tune mags, etc, sponsors lots of events....he’s competitive at Area matches as a Limited shooter. PS- zero failures 600 rounds in. Runs like a scalded ape.
  18. I have a big screen tv in basement where I do my dryfire. I’ve been thinking about finding video of a star shot correctly and putting it on the TV for dryfire. I’ve seen some recorded from downrange that would be what I see if I’m doing it right. Crazy talk or worth a try?
  19. Can’t compare it to anything but a G35 but I absolutely love my Atlas Titan. PM Adam Nilson and he’ll be happy to talk to you about your shooting needs.
  20. Same here. Can’t say precisely when...but at some point, the interesting aspects of TWD (survival, resource gathering, adrenaline, etc) gave way to a soap opera melodrama. The writers don’t even bother creating suspense or fear in the audience. It’s a zombie show, not Greys Anatomy!
  21. Week one update: getting faster with reps. Dryfire now under 1 second so I’ve bridged half the loss already. Technique question: when you draw your 1911 / 2011, are you establishing grip with thumb over the safety and then pushing it down to final freehand grip or are you establishing a “normal” grip then coming over top during the presentation?
  22. Better shot calling Make A class by September.
